  • THE BEST.......OF EVERYTHING. THE BEST.......OF EVERYTHING.
Color: Silver
I have been a stereo guy for a long time. My Pioneer 1050 was a great receiver. So was my old Marantz. But it was time to upgrade and get the new modern receiver. This receiver has exceeded my expectations. It has worked seamlessly. Sound is outstanding, I can hear so much more in my music, rather it be vinyl, CD, or yes, my Nakamichi Dragon Cassette deck. But that is just the start. I love listening to my Amazon Music through Prime at 44.1 kHz or higher, and I love the internet radio feature and bluetooth is seamless and clear and easy to use. I listen to TONS of free, almost commercial free music on net radio. Jazz is my favorite. Also some wonderful classical from Europe. I have not used the ARC for TV yet. This unit is high quality. If I could change one thing I would have the meters back lit instead of top lit. Not a deal breaker. This is easy to set up and operate. The remote is heavy and top shelf. Simple to use and the buttons are clean. The music cast app is MUCH improved over the old version I had a few years ago. It works so very well. I got the silver faced unit as you can see in the picture. It looks classic. If you are an audio person like me and my wife, you will not go wrong with this unit. Expensive, yeah. But you will not be sorry you got it. It's built like a tank at almost 50 pounds. Thank you Yamaha for a great product and building them like they did in the 70's during the golden age of stereo. Only with modern features. Oh, BTW the FM is over the top good on this unit. My stations that once had hiss or would not come in, lock right on and are as clear as a bell. I'm one happy guy. ... show more

  • Sweet as honey, smooth as silk Sweet as honey, smooth as silk
Color: Silver
I seriously debated whether spending this much money on a receiver would make much of a difference. In the end I decided to treat myself and go top shelf for once. Well I have had this for 9 months now, and let me tell you, there IS a difference! The sound is just amazing. Very clear, clean sound. Rich and full smooth bass. Easy power. Just a delight to listen to. Some favorite features: YPAO room correction - first of all, the set up is easy and does a great job of creating a balanced sound. Even better, with YPAO volume control it adjusts the levels according to the volume. I can't tell you how great this is. I am a notorious volume addict and I love to blow the roof off as much as anybody, but truth be told I listen at low levels most of the time. With YPAO on you still get rich bass and a balanced sound even at low volumes. As a result it is easier to find an ideal listening level when reading or talking with friends. Musicast - streaming is so simple. I listen to Spotify or net radio most of the time and it is just seamless. The DA converter makes digital music sound great. Vintage sound for analog inputs. My vinyl sounds great! Build quality - Oh my god. From the brushed metal front, to the piano black wood sides, to the VU meters (!) to the gorgeous volume nob to the remarkably satisfying power switch, this unit is just beautiful and a pleasure to own. Like I said, I am mostly streaming and the app is wonderful, but if you are spinning vinyl you have the wonderful vintage feel from the amp that makes it a great analog experience. (Warning - it weighs a TON) Connectivity - HDMI, Bluetooth, FM radio, phono, USB - what can't you connect? I have my 1990s CD player hooked up to the optical - same old carousel now with modern high end DA converter. Sounds awesome. My speakers are Klipsch RP-8000F. They are pretty efficient and this unit is way more than enough power. I am listening to jazz a lot of the time, plus rock blues, lots of stuff. Everything has sounded great. Anything acoustic had been most impressive. Really demonstrates the clarity and richness of the sound and you can hear so much detail. Buy and enjoy! ... show more

  • Fantastic piece of equipment
Color: Silver
As a casual Audio Science Review acolyte I always passively bought into the idea that functional (ie, not broken) amps are audibly indistinguishable from each other but the RN2000A made a clear and immediate improvement to my system. It replaced a 10-year-old lower end Yamaha AVR to power my Wharfedale Lintons and the speakers just seemed to come alive with the new amplifier. It's hard to describe, and I'm hesitant to use flowery audiophile buzzwords, but it just seems like the RN2000A plays music with less effort and far more confidence and authority. If I had to guess, I'd chalk it up to better, more stable power management when the speakers dip below 6ohms, but I'm not sure. I'm also a huge fan of Yamaha's MusicCast app, its integration with Amazon Music HD is very reliable and smooth and easy to use. The DAC is top of the line and perfect, and the phono stage sounds great with my vintage Sony turntable, though be aware that it's moving magnet only. The unit looks great aesthetically so it's also a nice addition to the living room. Even the remote is a pleasure to use, with its reassuring heft, metal construction and pleasant clicky buttons. Highly recommended overall, though I'd advise watching the prices for a while because the silver one (the one I bought) does go on sale every couple months. My only hesitation is that you have to have faith that Yamaha will continue supporting MusicCast and that the app/streaming integration will still be useable in 10+ years, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. ... show more

  • Audiophile quality at a fair price
Color: Black
Outstanding amplifier. A plethora of features- FM tuner, phono input, stream via wi-fi, Bluetooth, & AirPlay. HDMI, component, optical and coaxial inputs. Best part is that it sounds incredible!! Wirth the price. The MusicCast app works wonderfully. Just for reference: we’re driving a good pair of MartinLogan speakers and using a classic AR turntable. ... show more

  • Fantastic build and sound!
Color: Silver
It’s another unbelievably built product from Yamaha. I replaced my A-S2200 with this R-N2000A receiver because I wanted the built in DAC and bass management. I was a bit concerned it would not live up to the SQ of my A-S2200 but that worry was soon put to rest. This thing is heavy, built like a tank, and sounds great! Pros - heavy, powerful, built like a tank, sounds incredible, has pre-outs and one sub-out Cons- No support for MC phono cartridge (not important to me because I have a high end phono pre-amp), no balanced inputs, only one sub out (come on Yamaha!), cannot tweak YPAO EQ results but you can tweak the delay and sub crossover via Music Cast app, YPAO can give so so results but it worked for me. ... show more

  • Almost…
Color: Silver
I've had this thing on for three days "breaking it in". At the start, it seemed warm sounding - almost heavy (compared to R-N803 and NAD M10v2). The next day, it opened up and the heaviness was gone. It seemed agile and light on it's feet with no trace of strain or stridency - almost too light. Listening to it all day for 3 days and still no hint of fatigue (over Wharfdale Lintons and Buchardt S300 MkIIs). I hear the whole orchestra for once and it's remarkable. I found out that I *like* light and agile. Make no mistake, the bass is there and when the source has it, it sets you back on your heels. Disclaimer: Psychoacoustics are funny - we often hear what we want or expect to, so who knows? I feel like I've made an excellent purchase, so damn the torpedoes. The unit is really heavy and well built. I mean HEAVY. Be ready for that if you bite. It is deep as well, so you may need an appropriate stand/shelf. Those are the hits, time for the misses. Nothing is perfect. a. No USB storage facility. If you want to stream your library, you will need a network share to stream from. I recommend a decent 2-bay NAS if you don't want your PC on all day and night. b. Bluetooth 4.2 (!), when 5.2 has been available. Not a big deal for anyone that can afford this unit as they are likely to use Airplay/Chromecast, but some may differ. The Bluetooth cannot be used for both up and down directions simultaneously. Again, no big deal. This unit cries out for proper plugin headphones anyway. c. No WiFi 6. Meh. I'm not convinced it's needed unless you have a house full of kids using WiFi all of the time. You can always wire it with Ethernet in that case. d. The MusicCast app needs work. You cannot search your network share, you can browse only. I'm expecting that to change sometime. It's an easy fix for Yamaha. e. No line-out jacks for recording or connection to a headphone amp. I won't be needing this as I rip albums and tracks and the built in headphone amp is great. Anyone need a THX AAA headphone amp? f. Low wife acceptance factor (WAF). Yeah, it's huge. If that's an issue, get an NAD M10 or a wireless streaming speaker set. That's about it. I recommend this for those who can afford it. Thanks for reading and good shopping! Oh...almost forgot - it's a keeper! Edit: Yamaha still hasn’t addressed gapless playback issues in both share/USB steaming and in all apps. It also still hasn’t incorporated scrubbing on tracks. Thus could be a deal-killer for many buyers. As a matter of fact, I may return it over just this. What a shame. Otherwise, I love the n2000. ... show more

  • Couldn’t Be Happier Couldn’t Be Happier
Color: Silver
I’ve never spent this much for piece of audio equipment but I’m glad I did. This Yamaha is very well built and of a very high quality. The knobs are all brushed aluminum as is the faceplate and it sounds as good as it looks. I don’t currently use the YPAO but it’s a feature that you can toggle on or off when desired. It’s got plenty of power to run nearly any set of speakers. Mine is paired to an old pair of JBL L100s and a pair of Klipsch RP-600Miis, two polar opposite type of speakers, and sounds great with either set. I like the ability to be able to toggle back and forth between speaker pairs by using the remote versus only a switch on the face. Much of the sound could be tailored by using the Yamaha Musicast phone/tablet ap which is very user friendly and intuitive. Bluetooth streaming sounds great as does the CD and phono inputs. Despite the receiver’s location in my basement, the over the air FM section is strong enough to pull in all my local stations, though I find myself using the net radio feature for even better sound. The VU/peak meters with dimmable lighting are icing on the cake. I’ve had a lot of stereo gear over the years, including a late 1970s Yamaha amp that still works perfectly, and this is a keeper. ... show more

  • Great unit, but at 60lbs it may have been damaged during shipping.
Color: Silver
This is definitely my priciest Amazon purchase ever! I’m going to blame the unit’s condition on shipping. I’m a big Yamaha fan, but this one was clearly defective, probably from manufacturing, but definitely from shipping. I started with the Yamaha R N800, which I loved in my apartment with a REL subwoofer (this was a game-changer). I was completely hooked on the setup. But then, I got carried away and read too many reviews about the RN2000a. So, I went down the rabbit hole that audiophiles often do. I just had to know what the next level sounded like. When the unit arrived, it looked brand new. 1. When I turned it on, nothing worked. I got a flashing orange light at the power switch, and there was no light through the view meter. 2. When I picked up the unit, I could feel the transformer shift noticeably in the chassis. chasis. I may try again later. This unit is a beast at 60lbs. ... show more
