Description

Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or color to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class. This is where it all starts. Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it is going to sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that provides more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, D-PRE preamps possess an impressively wide frequency range that allow them to handle signal from any audio source without overly amplifying any specific elements of the sound. Having such a pure sonic platform to build on will ultimately save you time and effort by eliminating the need for excessive EQing or additional effects processing in order to "fix" your mix.

  • Exactly what I needed
Size: 6-input Style: Built-in Effects
Quality of Yamaha exceeded my expectations. Replaced a similar mixer, and this excels in every category

  • Fantastic , but not happy about cord packaged in typical figure 8 , it will never straighten out.
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
...Then number one thing on stage is how you sound, however, looking good (as best we can) is also important. Yamaha goes out of there way to make us look bad and create dangerous trip hazards; The cord is sent to you wadded up in a figure at , so you have a serpintine power cord that will always look like trash and become a trip hazard, add insult to injury they give you a humongous power supply , that is in the middle of the cord, it should be integrated or a foot or so from the wall socket/power source end. There is NO excuse for anyone to send you a waded up figure 8 cord, a round coil never takes up more room and runs a straight line when you uncoil it, shame on yamaha, not to go over the trip hazard again, but it is also there. One last minor issue is that I would prefer the grounds on the balanced mic cords to be reversed or oriented toward the top or backside of the mixer, cause I like to used 90angle low profile balanced outs, so the can only run straight across the board in my case. Thats the bad stuff , now the good; Love the unit itself, I didn't even open the manual if it came with one, pretty intuitive if you've ever had a mixing board with onboard effects. The effects are limited to one at a time or a preset mix, which is really bad for some, but I'm fine with it, I only need one basic sound. I like effect 4, I turn it way up on my vocal channel and about 1/2 or less in the global sound pretty natural to my ears. The unit itself also looks great, layout is good, sound is great, of course you need decent active/powered speakers to go along with it and a good mic , as is true in most cases today. There is no noise when I turn the power switch on or off, while speakers are on, bravo, that is nice. I place this on a music stand, with notepad by its side, I have the music stand fixed, so the tray can't possibly swivel, before I locked it in by drilling and bolting the weight of the unit would cause it to spill everything on the ground, music stands aren't made for that kind of weight, but it makes things very convenient, and when fixed' , pretty bullet proof. I strap cables to the stand so they exit the area low as opposed to high, you can figure out why lol..... I read numerous reviews on like priced boards, chose this one , with maybe a feature here or there missing, or features I don't need added, but the cores is there and reliability was rated above pretty much all the others, so for an extra $20.00 approx, I got something that I have a pretty good idea won't develope scratchy/noisy pots, and naggling fails after 6 mos or a year. One issue that many of you will see as a plus is the connectivity , I did not want any of that, I just wanted a great live performance machine, and hoped that the developement money and components would not suffer do to features that I don't need nor want. Overall, I'm very happy with the board itself. ... show more

  • Great item. Produces great sound
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
Great sound I just didn’t like the layout of the Left and Right speaker inputs on top. Just personal preference.

  • Exactly What I'm looking for
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
This mixer has serval effects to choose from. I love the option of the XLR & 1/4 inch outputs. Another great feature, you have 2 RCA outs with it's own channel! Great board, highly recommend for small gigs.

  • Excellent audio interface
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
This is my second MG10XU. I had the previous one for about 5 years. I thought I was done with home recording and sold it and was using a Shure USB mic interface for my radio recording provided by my employer radio station, but it is noisy! Pros, One of the best audio interfaces I have used. Is capable of 24 bits / 192 kHz resolution. On occasion I do voice work for a radio network and the audio preamps and the phantom power for the microphones is very good. As I often make DVD-Audio disks of remastered LP's. reel to reels, etc., the resolution exceeds that of the source so I have confidence that the digital version has captured all the information. I am feeding audio from my Outlaw retro receiver RR 2150 from the tape out into the mixer, then to a USB in on my PC. From the PC, a USB out into the USB in on the back of the Outlaw. So digital in and out. Bliss! Cons, Shipped only in the factory printed retail box. It was scuffed and I was concerned about damage but inside all was good. No USB cable. My previous version was supplied with a USB cable. My prior unit had a driver and set up disk. The Cubase in the prior unit had a disk as well. Cubase AI. Worthless. The link in the published user guide did not exist. I did find it with an extensive web search. The Steinberg website had several clumsy steps to perform the download and authorization to start the set up. The set up crashed. I tried again, but now I am no longer authorized to download. It is not worth it to me to contact Steinberg. I have Adobe Audition which exceeds my needs. The Yamaha drivers not in the link as published. Again I did find it with an extensive web search. Set up afterward was fine. There is a Asio option that I finally found on my computer and was able to set up the higher resolution digital audio. The pros outweigh the cons! • Well made, quality materials
Size: 6-input Style: Standard Mixer
This is a really well made unit, and the fit and finish is quite good. Controls all work smoothly, and the sound quality is very good for our application (small PA system). I do wish the mic preamps had a little more gain, or that it had a mic trim pot where I could boost the signal when needed. Other than that, no complaints. If i was doing it over again, I would probably get the 10 input version, which does have the mic trim as well as extra EQ, but this fills our needs at a slightly lower price. ... show more

  • Best small mixer for the Buck!!!
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
This little Yamaha mixer is one of the best small mixers that I have used. The effects on the mixer are good enough to use for a concert setting but still leave a little to be desired. I’m not a huge fan of knobs I prefer sliders but for this particular mixer it works well. The only thing that I would change perhaps is I would add at least one auxiliary output but I have made do with the monitor output. This lot of mixers really represents quality and Yamaha did a great job. If you were looking for a small mixer weather USB or for a smaller concert setting for soloist this is the mixer to use ... show more
