  • Works with nitro mesh kit and double kick pedal
Style: Kick Tower
Way better than the nitro mesh kick pad. Doesn't cause double triggering like my old pedal. I'm sure it's possible but hasn't happened yet for me. Sensitivity adjustment knob on back of pedal that I haven't even had to use. It was at the perfect setting for me right out of the box.

  • Yamaha KP65 Kick Drum Tower is THE ONE!
Style: Kick Tower
I'm using the Alesis Forge electric drums (but not the electric cymbals - I still use real cymbals), and while I like the drums a great deal, I found myself disappointed with the kick drum pad, specifically in use with my DW3000 double-bass drum pedal. Even on max sensitivity, it wouldn't register all strokes with both beaters. After doing some research, I found this Yamaha KP65, which is also about $20 less expensive than the Alesis kick tower. The Yamaha kick tower is AWESOME! Works perfect for double bass pedals. Extremely fast response, strong signal. Very sturdy. Set up took about 30 seconds to remove the DW3000 rim clamp, swap the towers and reconnect the 1/4 inch cable. One of the big differences between the two towers is that the Yamaha's strike surface spreads across the entire face, all of which is sensitive. The Alesis tower has a thick metal border around the pad, which on my double-bass pedal, put the beaters too close to the edge and way from the center of the pad. Thumbs up to the Yamaha, best bang for the buck. ... show more

  • Works great with my Iron Cobra double pedal
Style: Kick Tower
I bought this to I could practice on my electric kit in my garage without having to travel all the way to the studio. I use with my Iron Cobra (old style) double bass pedal (I also use the Trick Drums Dominator double pedal, but it does not fit well on the base of the KP65 - this is a design flaw of the pedal though and not the KP65). While it does indeed work, I do have to watch it since it moves around a good bit and my pedal can actually move away from where it's clamped down. I probably have to recenter it once every other week or so. Nevertheless, that's the pedal's fault and not the kick tower. I like the separate volume control on the back of this unit. ***Update 8/23/2016 - Unfortunately the KP65 that I had purchased began to crap out on me. It seemed like it was just hit or miss whether or not the trigger transmitted when it was hit...no matter what I tried. I contacted Yamaha customer service and spoke to someone (an American in California) who created a ticket with my info and told me someone would contact me for further instructions. Later I did receive a call but I was not able to take the call and a voice mail was left requesting a call back. I was not able to return the call until the next day. I called them back and they ran through the troubleshooting steps with me, which I had done everything except one thing already. They said to try that one thing (put the kick pad on a separate input to rule the inputs out on the brain) and then give them a call back/or email and they'd process a replacement right away. Unfortunately the tests showed that my unit was bad, but Yamaha shipped me one out and it arrived in perfect condition and is working flawlessly at this time. Yamaha's excellent customer service and warranty policy (1 year) has allowed me to retain this 5 star review in tact. Great job Yamaha! Other manufacturers should take note of your warranty policy and follow it as an example. ... show more

  • Pretty good trigger for my SPD-SX
Style: Kick Tower
Bought it so I could turn my drum pad into a makeshift kit, works pretty well but I’d say it’s a little bulky and pretty loud; so I’d say acoustic jam sessions didn’t really work since you could always hear the kick pedal plastic hit over the actual sample.

  • Nice Pad
Style: Kick Tower
Now I'm not an audiophile, nor am I a stickler for authenticity in feel. This pad, like all rubber drum pads, doesn't quite nail the acoustic feel, but that being said, it has a delicious amount of give; just enough to absorb impact, but not so much that it feels squishy. As a result, it doesn't bounce the beater much, which works in my favor. The frame is a little bulky, but easy to assemble, and it has a good amount of support which is essential. One gripe I have is that it tends to slide when I get into playing, despite the fact that it has those screws at the end (mind you, I'm not playing on a rubber percussion pad, which is where those screws shine in use) but I was able to deal with that by placing a weight, literally a 20lb dumbbell, on the opposite side. The pad is also wide enough to support a double bass rig! If you're looking for a replacement bass pad, or perhaps a spare, look no further. Why spend hundreds of dollars on a device just like this one, when you simply don't need to? ... show more

  • Great Kick Tower For Use with Yamaha 7210 and DD65
Style: Kick Tower
I've been using this with my DD65 Yamaha Midi Drum Module and the Yamaha 7210 Kick Pedal and it's worked fantastic. The cord running from the back of the kick tower to the module is about 10 feet long. Way more than I needed but better to be too long than too short. The tower has 2 spikes built into the rear portion of the base for carpet mounting to keep it from moving. I highly recommend either using these spikes or fabricating your own velcro system of some kind to keep the tower from moving. When you're drumming, it definitely will move if you don't secure it somehow. The tower pad is quite sensitive to your playing and will pick up ghost notes and nuance playing. I don't recall it ever not triggering a note that I've played in a month of daily use. You do not want to purchase the beaterless pedal. If you do, you WILL experience missed triggers and I'll tell you right now, there is nothing more frustrating than not knowing if your pad is going to trigger or not, especially if you do any recording like I do. So spend the extra money and get this tower and the accompanying foot pedal. It will be well worth the investment. ... show more

  • Great trigger foot pad
Style: Kick Tower
This is my 3rd purchase of this footboard. I use one in a hybrid set up with my acoustic set and have had it for one and a half years. And now I have a second trigger footboard for my electronic kit! I prefer two foot pads for double bass drumming to a double pedal and one pad. I used a double pedal with it and it works OK. But It's very secure and durable with one beater and pad! It's also got a sensitivity adjustment on it and an input jack along with its output jack. I use one pad with a Roland module and one with my Yamaha. They both perform well! Definitely good pad especially for the price! ... show more
