  • Most interchangeable double bass pedal for cheap
Size: Double
Edit: i added pictures of my double bass pedal. Its amazing the amount of settings this pedal has considering its price point. Unfortunately I havent been able to try the different colored cams but I did use the orange cams that come with the pedal and I used the pedal without any cams. Personally I prefer the orange as I get a decent rebound. But in order to get the rebound I wanted I had to adjust the foot board up a bit. Then tighten the springs up a lot. Now Im about to double and do triplets all day long. I still plan on getting the direct drive assembly, but first Im going to get proficient in using the single chain. Amazing pedals in my book! Even though my entire kit is made up of Mapex drums (to include both my snares). Nothing beats Pearls hardware.. to include the bass pedals. I will add photos soon.. however there is so much to say for the P932 Demonator. For one if you dont like the light metal drive shaft assembly you can purchase it in black. Want to upgrade to direct drive? You can do that too... just purchase the "pearl direct drive assembly" from Pearls catalog. You can adjust the foot board as well. Thats why this pedal comes with 2 allen keys. The bigger one will loosen the 2 screws (where your heel would be) and you can adjust the footboard. Please keep in mind if your using a direct drive system (swapped the single chain and cam) and move the footboard forward your linkage may hit your bass head. Also the smaller allen key (if your still using a single chain and have the orange cam on) will remove the orange cam. Just lift the chain and in the center of the orange cam you'll see a hole where you can put the allen key. I took the orange cam off and ive gotten such a faster response. Pearl is a great company... even though some pedals are priced high, alot dealing with their bass pedals are interchangeable. Im not a fan of Pearls drum kits but honestly i can say their hardware, bass pedals, hi hat stand, cymbal stands, and rack hardware are all top notch. Im sure their higher end kits are great too. Ive just moved to Mapex for drums.. although i still have my old Pearl Sessions kit, i just couldnt get the sound i wanted out of them. Aside from that, Pearl makes quality products and I still use some hardware with the exception of my Mapex Armory series... (i have the P932 on that kit) but all of my cymbal, hihat stand, and snare stand is mapex's line of black finished hardware (H800) i have the mapex double bass pedal (P800TW) black dual chain with falcon weighted beaters. But even though this Pearl pedal is out of place its still the best one ive purchased considering i was able to purchase it from the Amazon warehouse at a great price (thank you Amazon!) If your new to double bass pedals this one will help get you on track. As many before me said, its smooth, no lag on the slave pedal, cams come in red, purple, blue, black, orange... each with its own unique ability to either play super aggressive or for just smooth and consistent light playing styles. You cant beat it... my only suggestion is to check if the Amazon warehouse has any... usually they discount the price and you could end up paying less than 170$ for this pedal all due to some box damage but no damage to the actual pedal. Bless amazon and bless Pearl! ... show more

  • Good Pedal at a Good Price
Size: Double
I have owned several double pedals over the past several years (DW, Pearl, PDP, Gibraltar) but never had bought one brand new (buying drum gear is like buying cars, used stuff is totally functional and the only reason you buy new is because no one else has touched it but you). However, I bought this because Pearl is/was doing a $50 rebate promotion for double pedals so I figured it was a good time to try out a new one. For the price, this is an excellent pedal. Several adjustment options (very easy to do) make this pedal versatile. I have owned a DW9002 and lets be serious, this pedal is not the same thing. But it isn't intended to be. If you want a DW9000 series pedal, you have to go buy a DW9000 series pedal. Don't buy a cheap one and condemn it for not being a professional-grade piece of gear. That's like buying a Ford and saying it is a piece of garbage because it isn't a Ferrari. As with everything, you get what you pay for. So, at this price point, I think the pedal is a great buy. Smooth, adjustable, the beaters are a nice weight, and it seems to be very high quality construction. I also like the look of it (though that is low on my priority list). I don't play metal so I'm not sure how it goes for you super speed demons (who always seem to complain about any pedal that isn't an Iron Cobra) but for casual use in fills or those extra flourishes that just can't be achieved with a single pedal, I think it is great. Mine did not come with an extra set of cams, though the powershifter cams (orange ones) are the ones I wanted and they came installed on the pedal so I don't care. Shipped in 2 days (via Prime) as always and came packaged pretty well (no damage upon arrival). All in all, I would buy again, especially if Pearl does the $50 rebate promotion again in the future. ... show more

  • Was a great pedal out of the box
Size: Double
Was a great pedal out of the box. However, after taking the eccentric cam pieces out, adjusting the springs, and beater angles it seems to play much better. Taking these out essentially increases speed and decreases the amount of foot action. This also prevents the pedals from sliding forward as they are now more lower to the ground. Couple things they could of done better would be to have a wider bottom hinge to decrease side to side play in the pedal (there's not as much as I may be making it seem), also the one drive shaft end is a little too tight as the other one spins freely when you disconnect the left pedal. I don't know if they done this on purpose in comparison to the demon drive, or if it is a minor flaw. This is not noticeable in the left pedal when playing that I can tell however, so I can't talk too bad about it. Very good build quality, and the only way this pedal will ever give you problems after many many years is if your an idiot. I've had an axis short board before and it really is a close call of which one I like better to play on. Hands down the pearl has much better build durability, and a much cheaper price. Very light and solid pedal. Has all the adjustments I need, and I don't prefer any more than what this one has, other wise I spend the rest of my life adjusting them other pedals and still never find a damn setting. I really like the smooth foot board feel and look. This really is a great pedal. Adjust this pedal to how you feel best, and work on your BPM's. If you can't get them up with this pedal then it's probably you and not the pedal. ... show more

  • bad shipping
Size: Double
When I received this item I was immediately scared. The tape holding the box closed was ripped a quarter of the way open, and when I picked up the box all I heard was jingling pieces. When I got the box open literally almost all of the parts were just throw into a box with one strip of bubble wrap, and the drive shaft for the pedal was taped to the wall of the box. I WAS PISSED, these pedals are not cheap and I would expect them be treated better when Im shelling out the money. When I assembled all of the pieces and gave the pedals a try I was very pleased to say the least. They are very heavy duty and yet extremely fast and responsive, but the beaters on them are junk. 9/10 on the product 1/10 on the shipping. ... show more
