I've only had this throne for a few days so I cant speak on its durability but as far as comfort,I don't know that I've sat on a better throne. I recently discovered that round and bicycle style seats were handicapping my drumming for years. I had the revelation when I forgot my throne (a Gibraltar) for a rehearsal and borrowed one of my keyboard players piano benches. The bench style style seat gave me more fluidity on the kick and hihat pedals with less wear and discomfort on my mid-section (rear end,groin,lower back etc.). I play my pedals "heels up" some of the time and i have heard varying reports on what style of seat is best for this posture,but for me,this throne was exactly what I needed. ... show more

Generally stout and well made hardware, but as others have pointed out, the height lock is basically nonfunctional. The first time you sit on it, you sink all the way down. That's fine for me -- I like having my throne all the way down anyway -- but if I didn't, wow, I'd be pretty ticked off and would return it. ... show more

Not sure what's up with the negative reviews that seem to follow all series of this throne, but this thing is a beast! I weigh 325 lbs and this thing is rock solid. Have used Yamaha hardware for decades and this throne is purpose built. The typical throne has it's weakness where the seat meets the stem, but this is the strongest point of this throne.
