Features

  • GLUE FOR DRUM SETS: the Meinl Drum Rug anchors heavy duty stands, pedals, and spurs without tearing apart like a house rug would do under the pressure of a drum kit
  • WHY IT MATTERS: it's a major distraction when your kit slides away from you while playing; this rug does the job of any bulky weighted stopper, and it's more durable than any thrift store rug
  • HOW IT WORKS: the low pile, thick, densely woven fabric lets pointed metal spurs dig in and plant themselves; it also provides friction for stands with rubber feet and lays flat so your kit is 100% stable
  • ONE BIG THING: the underside is lined with durable, no-slip rubber; this protects sensitive flooring like hardwood by preventing spurs from puncturing through the rug, plus, it grips any surface you put the rug on
  • OF NOTE: comes with a hook-and-loop strap that wraps around the rug after you roll it up; this keeps the rug neatly rolled for easy storage
  • BY THE NUMBERS: 63" L (5.25') x 55" W (4.6'); best suited for smaller setups or cajon
  • THE BOTTOM LINE: keep your kit positioned exactly the way you want it with a classy looking rug that's generously sized and withstands the onslaught of drum hardware
  • THE BIG PICTURE: Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturer and brand established 1951 in Germany; our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality

Description

The compact Meinl drum rug measures 5.25' long x 4.6' wide to accommodate smaller drum kit or percussion setups in tighter spaces. We use a tightly woven fabric so your bass drum and pedal spurs have something to dig into and stay securely in place. This durable fabric also prevents drum and cymbal stands from sliding as you play. On the underside of this rug is a layer of thick rubber lining that eliminates rug slippage on any surface. This lining also prevents spurs from puncturing through the rug, eliminating potential damage to floors. From a 4-piece jazz kit to a percussion set with a cajon, the compact Meinl drum rug is the ideal rug to put under your setup in any live, studio or practice setting where you have a minimal instrument arrangement. Attached to this rug is a hook and loop strap that allows you to roll the rug up neatly and strap it in place for easy travel or storage. This strap ensures your rug stays rolled up tightly and makes clearing stages a breeze. Included with the Meinl drum rug is a convenient travel bag with drawstring top so you can stow the rug without it getting caught on other surfaces or damaged.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Drum Rug and Office Floor Protector. Play Out In Style.
Size: Standard Color: Black
I bought this to use under drumset and to try out as a replacement for the vinyl office mats that people put under their chairs to protect nice wooden floors. It works well in both cases. It's very lightweight and portable, while the rubber backing keeps it in place on almost any surface. In my home office I have nice teak parquet floors. It helps deaden the room a bit and it works well as a semi-industrial floor protector. And because I have amps, guitars, rack-mounted equipment and keyboards lying around, it fits into the motif (so very important. Huge!). I mentioned it's lightweight and portable: It can roll up and comes with a nice carrying case, so I can stuff it into my trap case and take it with me when I need to play a gig. Lightweight, durable, attractive...what's not to like? Well, there's one thing: It has a little strap attached to the underside which is supposed to be used to keep it rolled up. And that thing doesn't lie flat when the rug is deployed. And I'm a clutz, so I tripped on it every day for two weeks until I found my scissors. Problem solved. Happy days. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars The material and rubber padding is to thin.
Size: Large Color: Oriental
I purchased this on April 6, 2021. The size is perfect and it looks great. It is very lite weight. Unfortunately, the material and rubber padding is to thin. All together it is about as thick as cardboard. Kick drum, kick pedal, and hi-hat spurs will punch through them very easily. It would not provide any protection for a hard wood floor. This rug would work well for lite jazz, especially with velcro on the pedals to keep from sliding. Heavy hitters that rely on spurs will shred this in a couple of gigs. It also has a glue smell that is very noticeable in a closed space. I do hope that goes away. I'm on the fence about keep mine, but if I do I'll have to use it with a second rug to protect my floor. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Works well. Rubber padding on the bottom
Size: Standard Color: Black
Rubber padding at the bottom helps keep the kick drum and high hat stand hold in place. You won’t need those expensive stoppers to keep your stuff from moving. It’s big enough for a full kit and some

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and effective.
Size: Large Color: Oriental
It's a good drum rug. The material seems to be of high quality, and the rug works perfectly in keeping your set in place. Nevertheless, DO NOT WET IT. The dye will smudge, and the design will be ruined, learnt this the hard way when my cat recently spilled my water bottle on this rug.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Very portable Meinl Drum Rug could be a little larger ... recommended
Size: Standard Color: Zebra Print
I like the portability of this drum rug and love the zebra pattern. My previous rug was a carpet remnant that was 8'x10' and was a pain to carry, however I got spoiled because it fit my kit and then some. This rug could stand to be about 12 inches larger in both length and width. The rug rolls up nicely but strangely, it rolls up with the pattern side out. It has a velcro strap to hold it together which is a nice touch. The rug is also pretty thin compared to my remnant rug, which did I mention, was a pain to lug around. The remnant also soaked up water and became almost impossible to carry when a rain storm broke out during an outdoor gig. Same thing happened with the Meinl rug last week and it shed the water easily. Overall I am satisfied with this cool looking, portable rug and would recommend it. It is also priced just right at $79.00. Thank Meinl! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Jawbreaker pattern is perfect for both your rock den and the kid's nursery
Size: Standard Color: Jawbreaker
Lots of drum rugs out there (or alternately, cheap rugs, old carpet...), so how to decide? I was very satisfied with the size, quality, and thickness for this price - not super thick, but enough so that the edges stay down and it certainly doesn't feel like a towel. It's low-pile with rubber backing on the entire underside, which stays put on hardwood or concrete, and lets you use the bass drum spurs for some added security. I have it setup with a 5-piece kit with a 22" bass, 16" floor tom, hit-hat + 3 cymbal stands, and there's plenty of room left - could easily add another floor tom and still have by everything (throne included) on the rug. Get this and you won't be disappointed or blow your budget. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars It's an ok rug. Go to Home Depot instead for better quality..
Size: Standard Color: Zebra Print
First off, This rug is ok... But what you really need to know is be careful ordering from gear nuts or you may get a "New" rug that looks like this. This picture is straight out of the box. Used and abused. Unfortunately I set it up 3 months after I bought it so I couldn't return it. Be careful. The rug itself is ok.. Would prefer it to be thicker and have more surface area. Don't get the Zebra styled rug from Gearnuts or it will be dirty. Order the black one or any of the others instead. Ugh ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly on my hardwood floor and looks great. With a rubber backing
Size: Standard Color: Oriental
Works perfectly on my hardwood floor and looks great. With a rubber backing, the rug appears to stay in place while drumming. My only concern had to do with the bass drum pedal spikes digging through the rug and into my hardwood floor, but after placing a few furniture leg pads under each spike (between rug and floor), problem solved. The colors are a little darker than seen in photo (not a deal breaker) and with an attached reusable Velcro strap, rolling the rug up and putting in the provided bag make it easy to take with me or for storage when not in use. I play on a Roland TD15K electronic drum kit with double bass, Simmons DA200S drum amp/speaker, multiple cymbal/mic stands and drum throne, and still have plenty of room for more equipment. I highly recommend the seller and this rug. ... show more
