  • The perfect digital piano/music workstation at this price point. Great for beginner to pro.
For the price, I don’t think you can get a better feel and sound on a digital piano. I have always preferred Yamaha acoustic pianos, and this keyboard nails it. The recording features, and many other features also make it a full fledged musical production workhorse. Pros: great value, feels like an acoustic piano, a dream to play, smaller than a Wurlitzer for space conscious folk, easy to record on, many extra features, included stand keeps keyboard rock solid steady while playing. Cons: if you are playing at a low volume the action of the keys is louder than an acoustic piano. As far as digital pianos, it’s one of the quietest I’ve heard but it is noticeable at low volume. ... show more

  • Great Piano, Reasonably Priced for Quality
As an intermediate pianist, I wanted a piano with a variety of voices for music production purposes, a headphone/sustain pedal port, and realistic piano sound. This nailed all of the above. It took work to put together and the stand gets fully screwed into the piano. Pretty heavy as well. I was able to assemble it alone in one hour, but an extra set of hands couldn't hurt. Generally as far as quality goes, well worth it. Mine included a cheapie sustain pedal, but you can easily find a quality one that emulates a real sustain pedal for under $30 on Amazon like I did. If you already own decent headphones, I also recommend buying a 1/4" adapter to hook them into this piano as needed. The speakers are nice and clear too, with a very smooth volume knob to help you ensure that your sound levels are just right. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great Stepping Stone
This was the perfect compromise for my 9 year old son who REALLY wanted a real piano. He is showing talent and practices 2-3 hours a day. The previous basic keyboard wasn't cutting it anymore. Though this Digital Piano is an investment it has so many perks. 1) it's portable 2) doesn't have to be tuned multiple times 3) offers the player so many piano type and room types for creating unique sounds that are very lifelike. 3) with add on of the pedals the sound is even more true piano life-like. 4) takes up less space than a traditional piano. We are considering it a stepping stone to a real piano. If he continues his devotion to practicing then we will upgrade to a real piano in a few years. Son gives it two thumbs up!! ... show more

  • Worth the price if you're looking for a home body.
This keyboard is amazing. The sound is pretty consistent with past models but clearer, and the pedal attachment works like a charm (pedals are a little heavy on resistance). The keys are weighted, but not quite the same as playing on a grand or upright. They are light and responsive. I'm still figuring out all the functions but so far I'm more than satisfied! ... show more

  • Best digital piano I've ever played. Maybe the best piano of any kind.
When I first sat down at this instrument (calling it a piano is not fair) I scrolled through the piano presets until I found the "Ambient Piano" and was immediately convinced that I was playing a real piano. (YMMV; in a room with different acoustics, other patches are more convincing.) I have played a lot of pianos, ranging from garage-sale specials that hadn't been serviced in decades, up to a $200,000 Fazioli 9'6" grand piano. This is the only time that I have felt a piano speaking back to me, as if to tell me that I should play a particular passage in a particular way. Despite being digital, I swear this thing is alive. The sound, the feel, the options, are all I want and more in a piano, digital or otherwise. I honestly hope this lasts forever. ... show more

  • Yamaha DGX-660 Digital Piano
A great keyboard with an incredible inventory of features. I love the realistic feel of the weighted 88 keys. The two speakers create clear and crisp sounds. I played an organ for many years, which has a completely different feel and sound, but I always wanted to play a piano and the multi featured DGX-660 was a perfect match for my piano budget. I connect the MIDI output to my computer so I can use Piano Marvel software and a second display set on the music rack. With this setup I can practice and play thousands of songs. ... show more

  • After a Year and a Half
I have now owned this piano for almost a year and a half. I am a mid-intermediate player, trying to improve my skills after years away. I play this piano at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes for 2 or more hours at a sitting. I also own an acoustic upright piano, that is out of tune after years of neglect, but still serves as a good comparison The keyboard action on this piano does a reasonable job of emulating that of the acoustic piano. The action is actually a little heavier than the upright which makes it much heavier than that of some concert grands I have played. It is definitely good enough for beginner to intermediate players. I pretty much stick with the piano room when playing this piano. I have messed around with many of the settings, but I bought it to be a piano. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to record with it, but if I get that good I would probably go the MIDI controller/DAW route. The sounds are certainly adequate and realistic enough. I don't think it is realistically possible for a digital piano to ever produce the full bodied sound of an acoustic. The sustain pedal action also seems and sounds realistic enough to me (I bought the 3 pedal stand). If I have one complaint, and I believe this is common to this whole category of "portable" digital pianos, is the music stand is ridiculously poor. First off, it is not tall enough. Secondly, it is angled pretty far back. The combination of the two makes the top of the music, in sheet form but also sometimes even with books, bend over the back. I suppose maybe some musicians want to stand and be able to read the sheet music, but I'll bet most sit. I just don't get how you can build a piano in this price range and not make a decent music stand to go with it. For that reason it gets docked a star. But, I think most people will be happy with this purchase. ... show more
