  • Surprisingly well made
I honestly didn't expect a lot at this price point, since a simple trellis from Home depot can cost upwards of $60. However, I was pleasantly surprised. All of the attachment points have some joinery, dadoes or half-laps, which means it's impossible to misalign parts and which makes for much sturdier construction over simple overlaps or butt joints. The parts are accurately machined and decently finished. Some care was taken with the design-- for instance, where the top section of the side units connect to the lower, the slats themselves fit seamlessly into matching dadoed groves and are affixed with screws, giving a clean continuous look to the splice. This is in addition to the half-lap joints on the main side uprights, which are then further reinforced with metal plates. Now, admittedly those plates should be galvanized and they appear to be just painted silver but I guess you can't have everything. My only other niggle is that the machine screws used to hold some of the main sections are longer than they need to be, making for a less clean finished appearance than necessary. That, and the counterbore for the machine screws that connect the curving pieces to the side make it difficult to tighten the nuts, since they are buried in a hole no larger than their own diameter. I resorted to sticking a small screwdriver into the hole to engage one of the flats on the nut, just enough to jam it so I could tighten the screw without it turning. But other than that I'm pretty impressed. Half the battle of making a decent product at a price point is the initial design, and this item is well executed IMO. One last note-- the cedar is very soft, so take care tightening the wood screws-- they can easily strip or pull too deeply into the wood. Just snug them up, or if using a cordless drill back off your torque setting. ... show more

  • Easy construction ~ Well made ~ Simply beautiful
I absolutely love everything about this trellis and so will you! I used mine for the front entrance which required to be taller so we simply just made extensions (which you will see in one of my photos - yes I straighten the leg after reviewing the photo 🤭). I also added a piece of metal fencing to assist with holding my decor. I don’t know what I love more, the easy construction, or the amazing scent of the wood! ... show more

  • 3 star product - 5 star customer service
Product is probably a 3 star, but customer service has been 5 star. I have had 2 issues with the product so far and have had it for less than 2 months. First issue was when assembling, one section of wood had a knot and when I screwed the plate on, the wood split. Reached out to customer support but they did not have a replacement part so issued me a partial refund. Second issue is that it is supposed to be mildew resistant, but it is already covered in several places. Reached out to customer support again and they recommended cleaning it very well and letting it dry. Also issued me another partial refund. I would recommend using a wood sealer to help protect it from the weather since the wood is pretty absorbent. Overall it is a very nice piece and seems pretty sturdy. It was easy to put together by myself. ... show more

  • Simply love it!
Wonderful design and very sturdy. I had other arches before that I had to return. This one is great, high, wide enough and has the added benefit of the round arch. Would be good to have either brackets or add some pegs for securing it to the ground but one can either use tent pegs and rope or screw some wooden pegs to bottom...no problem. I bought 2 more now for a total of 3...great value to the quality one receives. I am planting vines, honeysuckle and jasmine to grow over these as a tunnel like entrance to the house. Have one at front and back gates of house also...love it. It adds a certain sophistication and style to the yard. Again, good quality, relative easy to assemble, comes also with two metal plates for increased stability. Just place them as you see fit between the other screws (slightly offset etc.) Then there is also a tool to tighten the screws in these deeper pockets. Simply wonderful, greatly packaged and perfect for the price. Enjoy! ... show more

  • You get what you pay for but not bad for the price!
I have to say, I love this arbor and really appreciate having read the honest reviews before purchasing. That being said, new buyers beware: 1) There is a good chance the pre-drilled holes shown on the illustration will be "missing" on the parts (as mine were) so invest in a basic cordless drill/screwdriver set and a pencil before you buy this. It will save you time and frustration. 2) Be gentle when assembling - the wood is very soft and I did find a few split/cracking parts but not in areas that would affect the structure's overall stability. Wood glue would be handy. 3) Enlist the help of a friend or a good set of wood clamps and take your time. I'm 5'2" and I assembled mine alone, upside down, using a 6ft table (for base stability) and good balancing act of body weight to carefully flip it right side up. The whole process took about 2 hours (including bathroom and water breaks) and came out great! I will need to stake it in the ground - probably with Quikrete - as it gets breezy in the walkway where it will be set up in. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the end result. It is sturdy enough for what I need it for (vining plants and twinkle lights) and looks fantastic! (P.S. This is definitely a look-but-don't-touch item. If this will be stationed near overly exuberant people, children, or pets, I recommend you skip this item and find something more stable!) ... show more

  • Stable, Looks good and reasonable price
Very easy to installed and every part is labeled and group together. It only take me less than an our. I installed with four concrete footings 8" x 8" and it seems very sturdy. The posts are just 1.25" x 2.5" , but with some strong support it can with stand high wind. The price $115 is very fair. I don't expect it to be as strong as 2x4 lumbers. ... show more
