I ordered these long tire spoons for changing my e-bike tires. I have a set of shorter tire spoons but thought that these long spoons would make the job just a little easier by providing lots of leverage. I have not yet used them but they seem strong enough for the job. I'm expecting that I will still need my short tire spoons as they can hook the spokes and stay in place. These big spoons won't do that. It seems like a good idea to include the three rubber rim protectors but I'm not sure if they are practical on a bicycle but may be for a motorcycle. It's a nice add-on to include the valve cores and removal tool. It comes with a soft case but I don't expect the case to last as it is made of the non-woven synthetic material that typically falls apart in a year or so. Overall these big spoons are well made and seem up to the job.

This is a review for the Y.A. LOTUS Tire Spoons kit BUILD: The kit comes in a cloth style case. There are individual pockets for the tire spoons themselves as well as room to place the rim guards and the valve pin removers. The tire spoons themselves are made of steel but I cannot determine what grade. Each of the tire spoons is approximately 14.5 inches long and has a plastic handle on the end for comfort and grip. The rim guards are made of rubberized plastic and each has its own retrieval rope USE: This tire removal kit is designed to aid in removing a tire from the rim. Once the bead of a tire is broken, you can use the spoons to pry the bead up and over the edge of the rim. Using the three tire spoons in sequence, will allow you to raise the bead over the edge of the rim without the other side of the tire falling back down below the rim. You would then repeat the process from the inside of the rim to bring the remaining edge over the last portion of the rim. With the tire spoons being 14.5 in, this would give you a great deal of flexibility for a multitude of tires including bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, riding lawn mowers, and some vehicles. SUMMARY: I try to do the majority of the maintenance on my vehicles and equipment as much as possible to save on having to pay for labor at dealerships. Repairing or replacing tires seems to be a frequent necessity when it comes to my riding lawn mower as I inevitably find stray pieces of metal on my property which ends up puncturing the tire. My riding lawn mower has a 26x12-12 rear tires and these spoons make it far easier to get them off the rim to make repairs. Additionally, if the repair is something that I don't have the ability to make on my own, I can at least take the tire off and bring that in to a dealership to save a little bit of money on labor. As with most circumstantial and specialty tools, there are some variables that might make it easier or harder to remove a tire. This can include the rim design, the tire size, the tire itself, as well as other factors. These tire spoons make it easier to gain leverage to pull the bead of the tire over the rim edge and get it off of the rim completely. Sometimes this is a straightforward process and sometimes it's not but these tools make it an easier process than trying to use varying lengths of screwdrivers and other pry tools that you might have lying around. This is an inexpensive kit and valuable kit to have in your shop. If you have several vehicles where you do your own maintenance on tires, this is a must in my opinion. I like that the kid cqme with a case to keep all of the tools together and organized in your toolbox. I also like that it came with rim protectors which might not be necessary on a lawn mower rim but it is nice to have in the event you have some other specialty rims which you would like to protect from the tire removal process.

Pry bars/spoons are too soft, will bend under modest load. Rim protectors too flimsy and ripped on first use.
