Helpful tool for a wilderness trip

I purchased these gloves for the purpose of wearing during my canoe trip up in the boundary waters recently. With heading out there in the fall, you have some colder temperatures to deal with. Another feature for me has been the consistent rain. I wanted some gloves that would allow me to paddle the canoe comfortably, not get in the way as I portaged items, and most importantly, would keep my hands warm despite the weather. These did the trick. I didn't experience much water-resistance with these gloves (the insides were noticeably wet after the rain paddle) but I kept them in my pants pockets when not wearing them and they did keep my hands warm in the elements even though they were a little wet. They held up to the rigors of carrying gear and paddling throughout the trip and I am overall happy with how they performed for this application.

Fit well and warm, but not overly grippy

I bought these for kayaking. The little dot pattern on the palms/fingers is kinda hard plastic, not grippy rubber, so it makes holding the paddle challenging. I found my grip slipped several times during my trip today and the paddle hit the water at an unexpected angle, causing me to lose balance. I may try to add some kind of grip tape or similar to the paddle shaft to prevent this. That said, the gloves fit perfectly, and were extremely warm while I was wearing them on the water. I definitely like them for that! Edit to add: I ended up returning these and buying different glove that are supposed to have more grip.
