I have the phone for 5 months now .. coming from LG V60, which I had hard time replacing as on USA market there is only one phone what has dedicated DAC, the Asus ROG 5S, but it is not good for everyday use as there is no IP water resisyance rating on it, any water splash would kill it. So, that leaves me with only Sony Xperia 1 Mk3 as the phone to get, closest to LG V60 in my features list. Sans DAC, but has dual sim, which is very handy. Sony is very good phone overall, wish it had wi-fi calling on T-Mobile USA, wider screen, dedicated DAC, and ability to have dual sim and microsd card all in one setup. Well, other then those items in the wish list, everything else is great, screen, touch screen digitizer, camera, weigth, battery, water resistance, clear loud sound from ear speaker, speakers, charging, GUI stability, buttons, dedicated photo shutter with half-press for focus, full-press to take a picture, all is working great. Modem is strong as well, picks the radio transmission signal well for voice conversations, on T-Mobile USA and overseas carriers, very good antenna set up, works well. Overall, if you last phone was LG V60, there is nothing else on the market closer to V60. Apple makes great phones, but I like Android file system accessibility better. Samsung is crippled Apple-wanna-be on Android now. Huawei is out of reach. So, so much for the choices, Xperia 1 Mk3 or Asus ROG 5s, I had chosen Sony, need a daily phone to use, not a gaming rig. So far, works great. Case used with Mr. Shield glass is Sucnakp Case Shock Absorption Anti Scratch Heavy Duty Durable LT Black, the only case I had found with the grip similar to the old-school Speck Presidio Grip, the one with rubber grooves grips, not the shitty plastic newer ones. It is a sad state of affairs that it requires a $1300 phone to tick all of the boxes I want in a phone but this is the only phone I'm aware of right now that does. Despite the price tag I'm extremely happy with the phone though. Pros: No notch/chin/camera screen punch, headphone jack, micro SD slot (or dual Sim), beautiful AMOLED screen, water resistance, wireless charging, flagship 2021 phone hardware under the hood (Snapdragon 888 etc) and a solid camera. Cons: battery life is fine but not amazing. Camera software is a little wonky and definitely will take some getting used to. I also had some issues getting it to accept text messages from Verizon at first but got it sorted out in a few minutes with a store visit. Note that receiving texts, data and voice all worked without issue from the get go. Otherwise it has worked without issue on Verizon and at least in my area gets a usable Verizon 5G signal. And obviously the price tag is a big con but when no other manufacturer can bother to include basic things like a headphone jack and micro SD card in a phone I guess I'll pay it. Kudos to Sony for going against the current trends in flagship phones and producing a great device. Hopefully this trend continues and catches on with other manufacturers who want to stand out from the pack. ... show more

Overall. not sure if it's worth the waiting and money but definitely awesome to play CODM on/ I pre-ordered like a month a go before the initially announced release date on JULY 2021; Waited for a month and checking the shipping status every because I was so excited to get it; by the way I am a CODM player, no way near PRO but I consider myself a royal CODM player; Invested quit a lot on the game and this is the main reason of me buying the phone; as for the enhancement to the game. For this prospective, it worked well, not excellent but definitely better experience but playing on my old iphone 11 pro max. first disappointment, the shipping date got delayed for about a week or more; but amazon updated me with only saying delay and asking me to confirm the process; I could only accept the delay or cancel; obviously this is not something I was expecting as a pre-order buyer. next the box was arrived dirty, not even wrapped with plastic wraps. The phone supports 120hz and 4K and it's great experience to have them both on but simply; CODM does not support to turn on both at the same time. I ran at 120hz for gaming and only allowed me to use medium graphic; so I guess, no contribution of the 4K here; But even if with just the 120hz running at FHD graphic, the phone HEATING LIKE CRAZY!!! I had to put on the cooling fan (not coming with the phone BTW) after about 20 mins of playing, or otherwise cooking my finger; The battery consumption is also crazy as... well, I assume all buyers are kind of expected that. So I had to switch the default graphic to be lower, luckily there is a feature that allows you to set auto turn on of 4K when using specific app; so while enjoying the 4K and save some battery when not needed A PLUS on this feature; Wished it has the same feature for the refresh rate but it doesn't; the gaming support allows the auto switch to higher refresh rate with the 60hz default but only works with game; if you want to enjoy movie or others, need to switch manually or just let the battery die quick with the 120hz default. (not tried this yet, will see how faster the battery drain and if heating would affect use). SMALL Minus. if Sony could implement something like apple promotion, the bigger battery life to Xperia 1 would just make it my first option for upgrading my future phone; until my love with CODM is gone. Heating is another issue but yah, unless Sony got it's own chips; otherwise, good luck to SD if there is any legendary upgrade in the near future. Overall; great phone for gaming; I am not a photographic person so I wouldn't consider that part, but I am sure that is the biggest strength of Sony so unfortunately; Still, I would recommend CODM player to purchase if considering between Xperia 1 or the newer iphone coming later (could change my mind if apple release the 13 with some surprise) but the earbud and COD Point Bonus nailed it.
