I tried using this to paint a model train, that was solid black, to look more like the Hogwarts express. Unfortunately I started to do this by using it in an airbrush. The paint was really thik and even with LOTS of thinner refused to spray our of my 0.5 needle sprayer, it just gummed up the spray nozzle and I spent the next 15 minutes getting it unclogged so beware if you plan to use for an airbrush paint. Where this does succeed is brush to model paint. It does take 2 coats for some colors but it does go on extreamly thick and I was able to do the detail work of my project with little more than a few drops of paint. Overall not a bad quality and fairly easy to use with a brush which by the way comes with three.

I specifically got this set of model paints for use with my airbrush setup, but I did test them out with the included brushes to see how they would work in painting models/miniatures. Here are my overall thoughts after testing: - I like the range and tone of the included colors; they're very natural looking and make it easy to achieve realism (if that's what you're going for). - These paints feel very much like high flow acrylic paints/inks, just without the egregious price point. They're even more opaque than a lot of the name brand versions I've tried. (For those unfamiliar with high flow acrylic paints/inks, imagine if acrylic paint was the texture and consistency of water, without sacrificing the color payoff.) - In terms of opacity, using these paints straight out of the bottle provided a really nice opacity level; not completely opaque, but with just enough translucency to allow the paints to exhibit luminosity and depth, especially when layered. - Because the paints are acrylic-based, they can be diluted and thinned with plain water. No need for the nasty, dangerous chemicals required to work with enamel-based model paints. There's no mixing, prep, or additional products needed to get started with these paints, making the learning curve that much easier for newbies. However, you may want to get a good sealant, since these paints are not waterproof. During my test with brush application, I was able to apply the paint then go back in with a clean, wet brush to achieve gradients, fades, push/pull paint similar to what you can do with watercolors, easily blend two or more colors, and create texture/weathering/distressing/etc. Since these paints are so flexible and forgiving, they make the perfect starting point for beginners or just an easy, less complicated way for experienced makers to achieve their design ideas.

This is a wonderful set of metallic and iridescent acrylic paints. Which I ordered with the intent of using them in my airbrush. The paint seems to be good quality and comes in a generous selection of hues. The brush is included our similar to those that come with a paint by number painting. They’re pretty low quality, but the bristles themselves actually feel decent and they don’t seem to be readily losing hairs, which is nice. Though if you’re trying to do a serious project, I would definitely recommend purchasing higher quality artist brushes. This set is ideal if you want to have a good array of premixed colors, but you don’t need large quantity of the same color. Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. I received this product for free through the Amazon Vine program in exchange for my honest review.

I am absolutely blown away by the quality of the ARTY HUB 20-color set. As someone who paints both tabletop armies and detailed display models, versatility is key, and this set delivers. The selection of colors is perfectly curated; the skin tones and shadows are fantastic for portraits, and the metallics (especially the 'Dwarven Gold') are vibrant and cover beautifully in just one coat. For hand painting, the consistency is ideal—smooth, highly pigmented, and they thin easily without losing intensity. For airbrushing, they require minimal thinning (I used a 3:1 paint-to-thinner ratio) and sprayed perfectly with zero clogging in my 0.3mm nozzle. The three included brushes are a nice bonus for beginners, but the paint quality is what truly makes this set a 5-star winner. Highly, highly recommended for any modeler.

Good amount of pigment for the price. You definitely want to make sure that you allow layers to fully dry between coats or the next layer will start taking up the layer before. Two coats gave full coverage over white with most colors. The metalics likely need more or to be used over another color as after 3 coats the gold was still somewhat translucent. The red is a touch too pink on it's own. But, the colors mix well. I did a few swatches mixing the metallics with the regular paints and that turned out decently. They do take a bit longer than I like to dry, but I think I was a little too heavy handed with the paint on my project. Overall, I would say that this is a decent beginning set of miniature paints. They aren't as nice as the other brand I own, but they are less than half the cost for more colors. The main drawback is that they do not have the mixing marbles included in them, and they really do need to be shaken quite thoroughly as the pigment and binder tend to separate.
