  • Awesome game, very hard.
Style: PlayStation 5
I really like the game. I use a true force steering wheel system with a 81' tv and game is so realistic it's stressful. The gravel roads literally make my hands numbed after a while. Not a game for beginners or folks who don't want to hit the brake. When or if i actually get good enough to compete, it will really be fun. ... show more

  • Very good rally game
Style: PlayStation 4
This game is a blast, I would rank it higher then DiRT 2.0, which is also a good game. The stages are more immersive, it has good physics, the ffb is decent. The game has room for improvement, but that will improve as the series goes on. I would suggest this game to any racing gamer.

  • Somewhat of a letdown...
Style: PlayStation 4
So I really don't want to write a bad review for the WRX series; however, there are audio and graphical issues in this game. I LOVE Kenya & Japan! But, I've had issues with audio in Monte Carlo (only)? And, there have been serious hiccups in frame rates. I'm playing on a regular PS4 (not Pro) and I know a LOT of next gen console games have been having issues (Cyberpunk 2077, YIKES!). I guess my big complaint is that I don't currently have internet on my PS4 due to pandemic cutbacks and even if there is a patch, I'm left with the day one disc as is for now! I've bought every WRC since PS2 and while this is still an upgrade from WRC 8 (I do miss Corsica though), this is the first time I've experienced technical issues with a WRC game. It's not a buyer beware review if you don't have internet like me; but, there are issues, unfortunately, for a beautiful rally game on PS4. ... show more

  • Free PS5 Upgrade
Style: PlayStation 4
I bought the PS4 version on sale for $12.99. When I played on my PS5, I noticed a free upgrade was available for the PS5 version of the game. Bottom line, if you own a PS5, buy the cheaper PS4 version and upgrade for free.

  • No Real Improvements
Style: PlayStation 4
I enjoyed WRC8 a good deal, so I was happy to pick up this new version of the game at a half-price sale over the holidays. All I can say is: I'm sure glad I didn't pay full price! The unfortunate truth is that the developer doesn't seem to have fixed any of the flaws of WRC8. The good news is there are at least two new countries to race in here: Kenya and Japan. But the bad news is the handling, using Dual Shock controllers, seems to have gotten worse. It's really a handful to try to keep your car on a narrow road at high speed. The problem is horrendous oversteer. I added a little more dead zone, but that didn't help much. The sensitivity was already set at the lowest setting (-5), but having nothing to lose, I decided to try something completely counterintuitive and turned the sensitivity up to the medium setting (0). To my amazement, the handling got better. I wasn't running off the road as much or crashing into roadside hazards, which the game provides in large quantity. So if you don't have a steering wheel and are having trouble with the cars' handling -- try different steering sensitivity settings. The game has replaced the perks of the previous version with a better upgrade system, enabling you to exchange experience points for better performance, rewards, etc. I was hoping the handling would improve as I beefed up my car's mechanics, but no such luck. Then there are the game's wonky physics. If you slip off-road and hit an unbreakable obstacle, your car will flip up in the air and spin seemingly weightlessly like a bouncy castle that has come loose from its moorings. Ugh! I have also encountered a sound bug: sometimes the engine sound cuts out completely, making it harder to judge your car's speed. The engine sound does return after a few minutes, but it's annoying in a game that has already been patched at least once and probably more. Finally, there is the atrocious scoring system. Regardless of how well I drive, I almost ALWAYS come in ninth on the Historic races. Similarly, I often come in first in the short rally race segments but never in the longer segments. And I always score poorly on some courses in the main career mode and well on certain others: terrible scores in Monte Carlo, for example, and top scores in Sweden. Despite these problems, I still enjoy this game -- I love rally racing games -- but competitive players will find it very frustrating. I sincerely hope that the developer will fix these flaws in WRC10. THAT might merit paying full price... PROS: * Two new countries to race in. * Weather, time-of-day effects. * Better upgrade system. CONS: * Tricky handling using Dual Shock controllers. * Wonky physics. * Broken scoring system. * Engine sound bug. ... show more
