Review: WORKPRO Clamp-On Vise, 3 Inch Jaw Width Portable Bench Clamp, Fixed Tool for Woodworking, Metalworking, Cutting Conduit, Drilling, Sawing, In Blue I have been needing a small vise, like this one, for quite some time now. When I saw this on Amazon and looked at its characteristics, it fit what I needed. I have a large vise, but it is screwed to a moveable platform. When I need it, I pull it out and place the platform in drilled out holes, in my work bench, for the platform bolts to fit into. It's heavy and not very easy to move. I needed something that I could cut smaller pieces of wood or plastic in. This was my answer. It is so easy to move around and place where it's needed or small enough to keep connected to certain places on my work bench. It is not really heavy duty by any means, but for small parts it will work just fine. It is also a light weight and pretty small vise, which is all I wanted. It is a bit smaller than I thought it be, but it works fine for my purposes. In fact, I like it smaller, except for the 3-inch jaw width I thought I was getting (see below). The finish on the vise is not even throughout the different area of the vice. Some places more paint has been applied, so it's a beautiful blue. In other places, the paint is very thin and more resembles a sky-blue color. None of this matter in its utilization, but it does look a little odd. I put a piece of 1 by 2 in its jaws and cut it. It held the piece very well and stayed connected to my bench without any movement. It did its job as I needed it to. The description on the product page gets a little confusing. They claim a 3-inch jaw width, when it is actually only about 2 3/8- inches wide. When looking at their photos, they show that the jaw width is 60mm, which is about 2.4-inches and is close to what I measured, (See Photo). In other places they also claim jaw width of 3-inches or 3-inch Clamp on Vise. When they are referring to the jaw width, they are actually referring to the length, left to right, of the jaws. Different terminology is being used here. Don't be fooled, the jaw width is really only 2 3/8 and the jaw length is 3-inches long. All told, it's not a bad vise if used for its purpose. Just be sure of what you need and what you are getting, a lightweight, light duty, 2 3/8-inch vice, possibly with a poor finish.

This will never replace a real bench vise, but if you need a vise in an unusual place to hold a small item, this will do the job. It was a lot smaller than I expected when I ordered it, but for my usage in a hobby situation, it works, especially since I don’t want or need a large permanently-mounted bench vise in that location. This vise doesn’t swivel or rotate, but that’s part of the price to be paid for simplicity and modest cost.

Not recommending for any serious woodworking…if you can even fit it? I knew upfront this vise wasn’t going to clamp down on my Sjobergs workbench but didn’t think it would be as small and light duty as it feels. Jaw opening is nowhere near 3” max and definitely wouldn’t recommend hammering on the anvil. While the clamp seems secure “enough” pretty sure a big blow would knock it off the table. But if you planing to use this as a hobby vise to hold smaller parts then this little vise is perfect. Best part is it can be moved around fairly easy. Note: opening/closing the jaw width I noticed the screw threads would hang up slightly (not smooth), still not a big deal given the price.

For a small basic inexpensive vise this one is okay. It clamps tightly and doesn't have a lot of play. If you do not need to be able to swivel the clamp, and can attach it right on the edge of your work surface, this is a solid vise.

I mostly work on small projects and did not want a bench mount type that would be in my way all the time. This is perfect for my needs working on things like soldering and brazing things or working on other small woodworking projects like gluing things etc. How My Star Rating System Works & What They Mean: 1 STAR - Pretty much junk and I would return and ask for a refund if I could. 2 STAR - It works, but barely meets the minimum requirements it should in order to keep it and not return it, but I would not order again. 3 STAR - It does what it was designed to do, but there's nothing really special about it. It's acceptable but not great. 4 STAR - I am very comfortable recommending it to a friend because it is is well made, durable, and delivers on its advertised features, and I would buy it again. 5 STAR - I really love it. The item exceeds my expectations of quality, durability and functionality. Not only would I purchase it again, but I would also actively encourage friends and family to do the same. All of my reviews are my own personal opinion and are completely honest no matter if I receive an item for free or I pay for it. I am an avid Amazon shopper, as well as an Amazon Vine Voice and I personally rely on reading reviews to make all of my buying decisions, so I understand the importance of honest reviews from my peers.
