I got this set because it looked ideal as an activity to do in the car on an upcoming, long road trip. I have two daughters, ages 9 and 11. They have typical fine motor and cognitive skills for their ages. Since there are an odd number of projects, I let my oldest try one. She needed help figuring out how much string to cut. (I just took a good guess and did pretty well.) She hasn’t done much sewing, so I had to teach her the concept to get started, and then she was fine. She got the string tangled at one point and needed help untangling it. And finally, the green part of the tree is a felt sticker. She needed help pulling the paper off. That’s a delicate job because the sticky part started to pull away from the felt with the paper. My younger daughter has been taking a sewing class, so I anticipate she’ll do okay with the sewing. But the other parts she’ll need help with too. I still think these will be good car activities because I’m not driving and will be available to assist. However, if an adult weren’t available to help, I don’t think they could do these projects. I love that they are packaged by project so they can easily have the pieces and instructions to do a project. And it’s easy to divide up among multiple kids.

I absolutely love making these and I really appreciate that each animal has its own bag and instructions. However the sticky part on the eyes and details is a pain to get off. Even with all my patience I still managed to pull up the sticky part with more then half of them. Forcing me to use hot glue to get them to stay.

This woodland animal sewing kit is so cute. My husband puts these together for me. It has been a thing he does for me since we started dating. He had a few problems with this kit. Mostly the string getting knotted (cause of material), the holes being too close to edge so it easily rips, and the scissors not being sharp enough to cut anything. If you replace the scissors and string everything goes better.

The box that this activity comes in does not indicate the age-appropriate; however the amazon online description says good for 6-12 year olds. There are 13 different sewing projects, that have directions and each felt project is bagged separately. I picked this activity to gift to a family in our community who has a child suffering a life-threatening illness. This can go in their activity bag that travels to/fro with the family.

The media could not be loaded. With Summer upon us and school being out this is a wonderful craft to have on hand when my niece’s little cousins come to visit! It is a perfect rainy day activity or if it’s just too hot to play outside! We love these felt sewing kits and some are better than others but this one is really great! It comes with everything you need to create the cutest little “stuffed” animals that her cousins can take home with them! I enjoy helping the kids if they need my assistance because honestly I love doing these felt projects too! The felt is good quality as is the thread it comes with needle threaders and plastic needles which are much longer than the needles from my other felt sewing kits! Each animal is wrapped in cellophane with everything you need to finish with the little eyes, ears, mouths, etc. that you just peel and stick on after you have finished sewing and stuffing the little critters! Each animal comes with an instruction sheet all its own with detailed steps by steps and a picture of how the finished animal is supposed to look! This is one of our favorite felt animals sewing kit we have ever worked with! We’re trying to save these for a rainy day and the cousins but it’s just so rewarding to see your little animal “come to life” so to speak that I may have to order another kit or two to have on hand when the little cousins arrive for a visit! The 8 year old does better than the two 10 year old. She's lousy at cutting but as far as sewing she works magic. In the first out the second in the third and so forth. One of the 10 wanted to skip holes. The other hasn't got a clue to the whole project. The 8 year old not only did a great job she finished hers before the two 10 and they had help. I guess with being younger she's out to prove herself just as good. I tell her to just stay focus and alway do the best that she can do.

My kids enjoyed this kit! They definitely needed help getting started, pulling the stickers, and learning to sew correctly. My 4 year old through to 11 year old children enjoyed stitching these together. It does have a learning curve, as with most sewing projects. Some adult supervision is required for success. These are 2 dimensional little characters, so trying to overfill them to round them out will cause the stickers not to go on correctly. The sewing holes are all pre-punched and line up perfectly. If a stitch is skipped, it does mess it up a bit. As far as a first “learn to hand sew” project, I'd call this a win.
