These brackets are effective and easy to use. They fit the upper edge of my storage container perfect. I feel like these are an effective way to create a roof over a container. I want to specify a ROOF over a container, NOT a deck, patio, or car port. Because these only screw to the lower 2 inches of a Rafter/truss I would limit any overhang, or eaves, to 2 feet per side. If you were to run a steel strap (hurricane tie) over the top you could have a longer overhang with 2x6 or 2x8 rafter boards. The hardware in the kit is marginal. I was not 100% positive the wood screws were up to "Connector Hanger/ Truss" duty so I used screws that I know were made for that job. The metal screws are Self Tapping but it takes quite a bit of effort to get them started. I found it was actually faster to pre-drill 3/32" holes for starting the screws. I do think that $170 for 12 brackets is expensive, but then again "Time is Money" and these would save a great deal of time over fabricating your own brackets. So maybe not a bad deal after all.
