This product is not for serious wood splitting. It easily jammed in wood that was dry and well seasoned. Even though I was using a very powerful drill. In fact, I think it’s a bit of a safety hazard because when it jams, it actually wrenches your wrist rather violently. Maybe it would be OK for Very small kindling splitting that’s already only an inch or too thick, but I found a simple hatchet. Did the job far more efficiently and quickly. Would not recommend.

Let's accept it, if you want to use this to split that huge, gnarly chunk of wood that just laughs at an axe or wedges, how far do you really think this item will take you? In practice, it worked well when applied to straight wood the size of a 2x4 or so. Shorter pieces are better than longer ones. I found 8-12 inches was about right. Lay the wood on the ground, stand on one end, then with the heaviest corded drill I have, split the other end. Yes, a hatchet would have served as well there.

Works decently with a powerful hammer drill. My Craftsman heavy duty hammer drill was not able to successfully split much of anything however. And even my Bosch Bulldog Xtreme struggled about half of the time. If all you need is to create small pieces of kindling from (very dry) wood this is probably okay, but there are better solutions like kindling splitter stands. Will not work well on any wood that is over 20%+ moisture from my testing. Not likely to use it much unfortunately.

I used my cordless 20v hammer drill and it didn't work. The bit got stuck in the log. I'm hoping a stronger drill will be a better option

Don't buy this piece of junk, it dosnt work. They are hoping you buy it and not return it. No way is going to split wood. Only super thin wood you could split with your hand.
