I’ll admit - when I first took the cap off to smell this - I was really put off by the scent. I was rushing out the door for work and thought I’d give it a quick sniff and a swipe…. And I immediately gagged and said “NOPE!!” A few days ago, I revisited this while I was home from work, sick as a dog. The scent is a very earthy, calming envelopment of so many notes. I closed my eyes and it took me back to my childhood, wandering countless greenhouses with my dad, looking for the perfect addition to our beautiful yard. Sunshine, humidity, potting soil, flowers, mulch, green leaves and stems… While I cannot grasp every note from top to bottom, I catch the geranium all the time. Then pine wanders in, tips its hat, and sits quietly beside the geranium. The other scents I cannot single out, but it is a glorious mix for when you need to just take a deep breath. I’m a special education teacher and have to be careful of what I wear. One of my kiddos snuggled over and proclaimed “You smell like worms!” I knew exactly what they meant - that earthy smell, hunting for nightcrawlers after a good rain shower. It’s not repulsive by any means, but a scent that tucks in and brings gentle memories. I usually wear a white flower based scent, so my liking of this is highly unusual. This is not a girly scent, not is it masculine. It is a genuinely good smell that will ground you with a quick pick me up. The small rollerball tucks easily into your bag or purse. The scent is close to the skin after an hour and remains intimately so until the end of the day…

This essential oil roller says it's "wood" scent and touts essential oils such as lavender, bergamot, sandalwood and "floral wood" but I can't really say that I detected any of those really except the floral part. It doesn't smell all floral but I certainly can't detect lavender or bergamot or sandalwood at all. no cedar either. It smells haunting familiar but I really can't quite place the scent. It's not overpowering and not bad just not what I had expected. The metal roller works really well though it can put it on a bit on the heavy side so be careful. Despite being an oil it's not overly greasy and absorbs into the skin easily. The scent is also fairly easy to wash away if you get sick of it or put it on too heavy which is good if you are sensitive to scents like me.

This detox oil roller is really nice. It's a good size and will last a while but not too big to where you can't throw it in a purse etc. the packaging is nice and the roller feels expensive. The wood scent is hard to explain. It's not feminine or masculine which is nice. Just a subtle, earthy scent that is really calming. No overpowering musk or sandalwood undertones, in my opinion. Did not irritate my skin or leave a greasy feel either.

I have used essential oils for decades now, and I always love experiencing new scents. This is my first introduction to the Matrum brand, but their description sounded so delightful, that I really wanted to try it. The scent I chose is called “WOOD, Detox & Flow”. According to the beautiful cosmetics-like box, the purpose of this blend is to “support flow, emotional clarity, and natural detox rituals”. It comes in a 15ml (or 0.5 fl oz) bottle with a roller cap to apply to my skin, similar to a perfume. The box shows a long list of ingredients in this blend. Many of them are organic. And all of the ingredients are 100% natural, plant-based, and synthetic-free. Aside from the seed oils (like Sweet Almond Oil and Jojoba oil), the main essential oils are: Bergamot, Orange, Pine, Geranium, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, Benzoin, Lavender, Sandalwood, and Bitter Orange. I know and love almost every one of those oils except for Ylang Ylang. I honestly didn’t know Ylang Ylang was in this blend, because if I had known ahead of time, I would not have ordered it. I intensely dislike it, and its strong scent always overpowers all the others. As far as the scent goes, I was imagining this to be quite woodsy with light floral and fruity tones. Instead, it smells mostly like baby powder to me. If I continue breathing it in, I can detect some of the florals, but it’s very heavy and cloying. To be perfectly honest, the scent does not convey the word “WOOD” to me. A simple pine, sandalwood, and lavender would have done it for me. But I think they went too far. Or maybe it’s the fault of the Ylang Ylang. I’m sorry, but I’m finding it hard to enjoy this scent.

This vial of oil came inside a protective box in a soft package. There is a generous quantity of the oil which reports to have a mixture of ingredients from all over the world. The oil is luxurious feeling and glides on well with the rollerball. The scent is mild and not overpowering. I am a huge proponent of essential oils and aroma therapy. Tea tree oil is my go to scent. But this oil did not inspire relaxation or relieve my tension as touted. The scent reminds me of a popular pine cleaner. This actually inspired stress because the smell made me want to clean my floors.
