I bought this travel backpack because it opens up like a suitcase, so it made packing really easy. The size fits perfectly for a Frontier personal item, but don't overstuff it! On my way back, I stuffed the backpack a little too much and practically had to SHOVE the backpack into the size measurement before boarding - was a little afraid it wouldn't fully fit! Other than that, the size pocket for water is kind of hard to use; it's really tight. Seems to be enough room but will say that it hurts my back.

It worked well to hold my extra items that normally take up weight in a backpack (small liquids, hair tools & makeup) along with stuff I will need on the flight. It fit perfectly under my seat and above in the carryon compartment and I was able to slide it on my suitcase too. I love love this backpack and it it made well! Don't hesitate!

The only thing I dislike about this backpack are all the extra buckles on the sides. I should’ve picked a different version by this company. Otherwise the lighter color hasn’t been an issue, good pockets, I love the pocket in the back for passports and the like. Waterproof slot is a nice feature too. Oh and the luggage strap in the back is so nice to have.

I returned another similarly-sized backpack due to the lack of padding for my laptop but it is ironic that this backpack has too much padding! It weighs 3.5 lb & already feels bulky without anything inside! It also has a strong plasticky smell that caused my headache. The shoulder straps are minimally padded and too wide. They will likely cause some chafing around my shoulders. If you can overcome these issues, when expanded, this backpack maximizes the personal item size dimensions to hold several days of clothes, toiletries and a 14” laptop. The 4 side buckles compress down the overall bag thickness to less than 8” to fit the 18x14x8 personal item size limit for most airlines. Note,once fully packed, it is difficult to fit anything into the exterior pockrts as there is no gusset and the fabric is stretched taut so inserting even an iPhone is challenging. Same with the taut luggage strap with a fully packed bag, making it challenging to attach to the luggage trolley.
