Wonderful pistachios are perfectly named because they are truly wonderful. They are fresh, crunchy with a light salt flavor. A perfect pick me up snack for the afternoon to get some protein in, or a delicious treat in the evening if dinner is running late, they are a nice tie over. They are the perfect size and so different from almonds, cashews, or peanuts that you would have in a cocktail dish or charcuterie board. Cashews are so heavy tasting and far more fattening, Almonds are typically much more of a mouth full and if you select Diamond Almonds or something similar, you have a whole mouth full of the flavoring, and not just the nuts. Cocktail peanuts typically make us more thirsty and add more calories in drinking and such. These pistachios are the perfect blend of nutty, light, and tasty. I am thrilled to have found the perfect snack. My children, grandchildren and husband all agree that it is quite tasty and enjoy Wonderful Pistachios daily with me. I love the way they are cooked. The taste, crunch and a bit sweet and salty. I am a repeat cusromer. The size lasts me a week. Well worth the cost!

    • Did pistachios have a poor crop?
I am a nut nut. Many different varieties of nuts I like. Pistachios and cashews are probably tied for favorite. Well, nuts don't like me and I do have to limit to once in awhile. It is a treat, a healthy treat but must limit for sake of GI comfort these days. I was introduced as a child to them in their artificial red shell. The red fingers were well the price you had to pay. Found un-dyed shells when I got older and didn't look back. I could still put away a good amount back in those days. This brand I think is the first shelled variety I tried. I think I got them originally when I had an idea I was going to make my own pistachio butter (still haven't gotten around to that) Purchased them and in shell variety over the years. This big bag seemed like a good value, the zip closure seems to work well so far , I still probably have half the bag (can't eat many these days at all) I probably will transfer to a jar and vacuum seal soon unless I do get out the ninja and decide to make pistachio butter. But I have noticed with these and cashews, the quality seems to be not what it was. You get more "hard" or "rotten" tasting ones I think than in the old days. Being an agricrop product nuts tend to vary, climate changes, crop diseases, etc. It is what it is. This bag was a good convenient value but at this point I do want to transfer to a vacuum sealed glass jar. If you have a large family, can indulge often or might make some butter, I would recommend - the zipper has held a few months now. Myself now, I can probably get away with purchasing a small bag in shells when I get the urge. ... show more

    • Great snack food
No more busting a fingernail opening pistachio shells. Just grab a bunch of nuts and you're good to go. Back in the day, we ate everything, peanuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, etc. These days, however, most nuts are considered unhealthy. I won't name names here but as far as I know, pistachios are safe to eat. Now the nuts that come in this bag are smaller than the in-shell pistachios. Makes sense to use the pistachios that are too small to be sold in-the-shell, otherwise the price would be unaffordable. The salt is perfect and there are very few bitter nuts. Very flavorful, fresh and salty. I used this to make Italian Pistachio cookies. the pistachios are ground like flour and incorporated into the cookie. YUMMY!
