I read the reviews that stated the leather smelled. I found this to be true of all leather products I’ve purchased that have been recently made - they have that new leather scent. Leather products that have been “sitting” and waiting to be sold, have had a chance to “air out”. 'm in heaven! The purse I ordered myself during that Amazon days frenzy last week came today! It exceeded any expectation I had. The packaging was beautifully done and the quality of the leather and craftsmanship is outstanding. Each one made by them is a unique color, I wish my camera showed the color better. It is made by a small business and of a special untreated leather goat skin. It will develop a rich patina within a few weeks . There are so many compartments inside and the two outer pockets are functional and real. All of the hardware is quality material as well. I'm beyond thrilled with this bag. It can be worn as a crossbody or just slung over your shoulder. The dimensions are roughly 13"x10"x4". Plenty of room for holding all of my junk. This bag also had each individual piece of the hardware nicely and carefully wrapped so as not to be scratched during shipment, which I thought was extra special. Speaking of extra special, there was a lovely Thank you note and care instructions from the FIru Handmade company. I would order another bag from them in a heartbeat. Absolutely breathtaking bag that will go with a myriad of outfits and styles. Now, I may have to look and see if they offer a wallet to go along with this fabulous piece. ... show more

    • Coach quality purse minus an extra zero.

The description of this item is spot on, lots of photos. I got this purse next day and it was exactly what the seller states. The leather is heavy duty with a beautiful finish, it will age well with minimal regular care. It's very roomy inside as well. The interior, partitions and pockets are all lined with sturdy, waterproof-like heavy black canvas material, not the usual thin silky cheap fabric that disintegrates and frays. The metal buckles have a vintage patina to them, and Firu includes an extra main buckle as well. The ONLY drawback is that none of the buckles come assembled. For me, solving a Rubik's Cube is easier than trying to figure out how to thread the main buckle properly-- but eventually I pawned the task off to someone else with far more patience. Smell-wise, I don't even think it's an issue. This isn't "butter leather" that's going to flake and scale if it gets dry. The smell of good leather is distinct and pleasant actually. BONUS: Firu sends a little "Thank You" and care letter sealed in a plastic sleeve. It becomes clear that the word "kind" conveys their appreciation of you, the Customer. Adorable. EXTRA BONUS: The tiny leather bound "journal." It's about 4 inches, has a wrap around leather cover with brown cordage to secure it. The tool stamped patterns adorn all sides, and the pages are rustic wood fiber, like papyrus, sort of. Not lined, it would be a cute little sketch book. Quality-wise this purse is saddle bag worthy, but beautiful in its rugged simplicity. Not even the perplexing buckle puzzle could knock off a star. If you want a high quality purse for all your junk and the kitchen sink at a plastic purse price, then kindly order this cute little thing. ... show more

I bought this bag about 2 years ago and put off doing a review until it has a test to time. Let's get straight to what everyone looks for and explain the rating. 1-Leather working quality is good. It's not top tier, but is amazing for the price. 2-Appearance. Beautiful! Color of leather always varies when stained and treated. The one I received was true and very close to the picture. 3-Accessories. Buckles and straps are still there and original. no signs of wear or rust. There is plenty of room on the inside and some dividers to help organize. 4-Durability. As mentioned before it's been 2 years since purchase. Purses/handbags get put through some rough treatment over time. Any purse that lasts past 2 years and is still being used is good in my book. Why 4 stars and not 5? Some critical advice I could offer the maker of these bags is take more time with the sewing/craftsmanship. It's not done poorly, just needs improvement and would only take off half a star if I could. The stitching has been solid and held fabric in place but some areas were off a bit in placement (sewn too far in some spots). All said and done when the time comes, I'll be buying this again ... show more

    • Love the Look and Quality but...

Although I love the looks of this purse and am impressed by the quality of the leather and stitching, there were too many downsides to it for me to be able to use it comfortably. Pros: Looks and feel; lots of organizing pockets; room for an iPad and wallet and so much more; the interior is well lined; and the leather smells wonderful. Cons: Very uncomfortable cross shoulder strap (it hit me at a bad place on my neck, pushing on a nerve); heavy to carry for very long; some of the pockets inside are sloppy and the card holders allow the cards to just fall out; the loop on the shoulder strap that contains the floppy tail slides down and the loose strap ends flops all over (I used a cloth covered rubber band for pony tails to fix that.); the exterior pockets would be easier to use if they had a magnetic snap instead of the buckle. ... show more

I received this as a gift from my husband. It’s got lots of pockets and it’s leather but it’s also heavy and kinda big. Now in my young days that was great. At 61, I want a lighter purse. But it’s pretty to me. You gotta watch the buckle on front. Mine keeps slipping out.

I wanted something spacious, big, not too big and easy to access. I was interested in leather as I like to purchase that I have for years. Vegan leather=plastic. I think this item is beautiful! Many access points. Instructions on leather care come with the bag. I look forward to the patina in leather as I use. -Some reviews remarked this item smells I have a keen sniffer and it’s just leather. It doesn't smell, in my opinion. -additional review talk about the clasp. Just tuck up the strap or don’t. I find it very easy. The zippers, stitching and leather are remarkable. For front pockets you do have to buckle so the unique top buckle doesn’t release. The buckles are high quality. That bag is beautiful and amazing.
