I had bought one of these for a truck I was fixing up because I was going to install a stereo system in. I discovered the previous owner had already had a electrical fire because he had run a power wire to a amplifier without a fuse of any kind and when he did the repairs he had run the wire again without a fuse. So I bought one of these and put it in line. I used that one to run all the electrical and put a way heavier wire and breaker in for the amplifier with no problems at all. Now I'm setting up all new wiring for a small boat and using this between the battery and the fuse panel since they are about 4 feet apart at least. ... show more

I use these breakers on many installations. A 200 amp circuit needs large wire size and the terminals don't accomodate many of the wire lug sizes.

Added these to multiple points on my camper to give an easy cut off to the solar charger, 12v supply to camper and a bigger one on the battery. Seem to work great, but haven't tested tripping them with a load, so hopefully they trip at the rated amps.

    • Cheap breaker. Undersized terminals

Trips well before 300 amps for 12 volt system . Terminals are way to small for 300 amps. Bought a 200 amp breaker similar that costed more had double sized Terminals and first tripped over 200 amps. You get what you pay for.

    • Way Better than Getting an In-Line Fuse !!

This is waaaay better than getting an in-line fuse. You NEVER have to buy another fuse again, because it has NO fuse . Also, you can cut-off the power to you amplifier, if you need to adjust your cross-over sound settings for your mid-rage and high speakers. My sub is a 15-year old Infinity BassLink. And I am running it with a Pioneer AVH NEX-2550 head unit. My stuff is BANGIN' HARD now. This is because the 30-watt blade fuse I originally had under the hood was weak and restricting proper flow to my amp. With this breaker my 15-year old sub sounds waaaaay better. I never new it could BANG that good. And sounds cleaner too. =========== INSTALLATION was a breeze. 1) - UN-hook just the positive cable and put the terminal on a cloth so it does not touch any metal by accident 2) - Strip about 1/2 inches of the protective sleeve off the Audio cable for both the ends that will go into the Fuse Breaker Switch 3) - Jam the wire as far as it will go into both ends of the breaker 4) - Screw down the wire cables with an allen-wrench. 5) - Make certain to have the clear and red protective caps screwed back on for a water-tight seal 6) - NEVER, EVER install this breaker close to your amplifier. You just need to install it as close as you can to the car battery. About 6-inches of cable or so. 7) - For SAFETY, I made certain to have the breaker switch in the "OPEN" position BEFORE I attached it to the battery terminal. 8) - Connected to the battery terminal. Turned on the car and radio. 9) - Closed the breaker switch 10) - Viola! All done, son !! =========== ADDITIONAL NOTES : For my 200 Watt amplifier, I got a 40 AMP. IMPORTANT: Make certain to get just the right amp amount that SAFELY matches particular wattage of your amplifier. NOTE: Purchasing too high of an Amp for the breaker is like having NO protection at all. Hope all this helps. ... show more
