I don't understand why other people are rating this product unfairly. You have to be fluid, you have to be able to think outside of the box, and be mechanically inclined to install custom made products. After skimming the instructions, it literally took me 3 minutes of how to approach the installation. However, for those people that need help, my advice to you is actually READ the simple easy step instructions for that. I did not use the self tapping metal screws, I ended up actually tapping them and using a bit longer bolts I had on hand because my case the drill press is solid. Don't blame the company for your shortcomings or failure to install correctly. Learn from it, take it step by step, if you can't complete the project ask/search for help, or pay someone else to install. I had 0 issues with this kit, of course the 304 stainless steel hose clamp threw me off initially because it looks janky, but it ain't stupid if it works. Just check everything every so often, the brackets and clamps of course with motor vibration and regular use. A+ 10/10 5 stars from me

On a lark I decided to add one of these to my 27 year old Delta drill press. Installation was straight forward. I'm impressed that Wixey came up with a design that should work with most any drill press. All the parts I needed were in the kit. Is it useful? Well, my drill press has a nice easy-to-use depth stop so for through holes, I don't find the digital readout to be that useful. However, it's very nice for setting the depth for drilling blind holes. The readings I get are very consistent to a thousands of an inch. A lighted display would be nice. I'm happy with the purchase.

Installation on my Porter Cable drill press took a while. I first installed it in place of the OEM depth gauge, then realized I wanted the positive stop of that gauge. Removed the Wixey and re-installed the depth stop/gauge and re-installed the Wixey. I realized along the way the Wixey was reading (-) negative, rather than a positive number. If the drill press was a milling machine, negative would make sense sense the overall 4 and accuracy of 3 rating, but now that it is installed, I am happy with it.

Works like I expected with just a little modification to my drill press. Lots of way to mount it so it was easy install. Nice cool digital readout. The only down side is the display is not backlit making it hard to read in low light or when not looking directly at it. I solved that as well with a magnetic LED light I found on Amazon.

I have router, tablesaw, planer, and a horizontal router. and drill press with Wixey, and they all work great, especially saw and router. I can change the size and go back to a few thousandths. Or I can measure a piece with a mike and set the saw, and cut to within a few thousandths. That said, the drill press especially, mounted vertical, in the shade of the belt guard, needs to be lighted. I keep a flashlight handy to read dimensions. Shouldn't have to. But the wixey is way more accurate than the depth stop on my drill press. Just (0) it out at the desired depth, and drill until (0), and you have the depth to a few thousandths.. But it should be lighted.

Love the accuracy of this device. Installation on my older drill press was a bit of a puzzle though. Finally used one of the longer parts (had to cut it) to make the installation. But glad I have it now. Do some work that requires precise drilling depths, not a problem now.

The Wixey Digital press gauge works great and is a time saver. It also gives repeated accuracy. I did have to cut part of the aluminum measuring bar, so I could open the lid to access the belts. With that being said, the bar was still more than long enough to measure the full 4 inches of my drill press. I highly recommended this product and would buy again.

The hardware for mounting the DRO using the depth stop bolt was made for 1/2" bolts. My Delta drill press uses a 5/8" bolt for its depth stop, so I had to do a bit of machining on the mounting brackets to make them fit. Once that was done, installation was easy and clean, plus I can still use my depth stop without interfering with the DRO. The DRO itself works nicely, although it needs a backlit display, the current one is hard to read when in shadow. Definitely worth buying if you're after a drill press DRO.
