  • Excellent scale with great, consistent measurements. Part of a great ecosystem. Highly recommended.
Updated after months of ownership... I've recently jumped into a "dunk tank" to accurately measure my body fat %age, and needn't have bothered. This scale had it nailed within a half a percent. Ridiculously accurate, at least for me! Nokia has since bought Withings, and the app changed for the (much) worse, and since has gotten a bit better. Also, I've added an additional image of pulse wave velocity over time. I've become convinced it's a useful measurement. It seems to tick up during periods of stress (e.g. a recent routine orthopedic surgery). It'll be interesting to see how this measurement's use evolves over the next few years. Bottom line: I really like this scale, and highly recommend it. Back to my original review: I bought into the "upgrade" from the basic Withings scale on a lark, and at the beginning regretted it. But I've learned how to get a pulse wave reading fairly reliably: (1) I wet my feet slightly before getting on the scale, and (2) after the weight is taken, I put my hand on the wall to steady myself while the other readings are taken. Even then, it's not a 100% thing, but the reading is taken often enough to get a meaningful trend (see pic). And, no, I haven't figured out of it's really cyclic or not... only time will tell. I don't know whether the pulse wave reading is particularly well understood yet, but I'm proudly "optimal" (at least for a 60 yo). But to the basics: the scale is ridiculously accurate, easy to setup, and of a very high quality. Highly, highly recommended. And as you buy into the Withings ecosystem, the phone apps and web portal become more and more useful. ... show more

  • This is a really great scale that gives accurate measurements **** KEY FEATURE REMOVED BY NOKIA ****
As of 1-22-2018 Withings (which was bought by Nokia) decided to disable one of its key features. I was not allowed to make a review of the Nokia branded version of the SAME product, so I'm making it here. Because they decided to disable one of the key features, I decided to downgrade my rating. They are offering a $30 rebate to anything purchased from their website (not acceptable to me, whereas a check would probably have been ok, but for $60.00 not $30.00). They also offered a refund. Decided to return this item for a refund. Works for me. No problem setting up with my LG G4 phone and my Wi-Fi network. All measurements are consistent. Be sure to read the manual on how to place your feet on the scale. When I first tried it, the scale had a hard time getting a measurement. I read the manual and they showed how you have to place your feet to ensure accurate measurements. After I placed my bare feet as they instructed I had no problems with getting consistent, accurate measurements. The health application on my G4 phone works fine and shows all the measurements as graphs over time so its easy to see what is happening. An added bonus that I did not know about is that I was able to use the step count from my Samsung Gear Fit2 and interface the data into the Withings Health app on my phone, so I can just open the Withings app and see all my data in one place. Sweet. My only concern is with the rechargeable battery that you have to recharge with a USB cable. Have not had this long enough (1 month) to see how long the battery will last between charges. Also, the battery does not seem to be replaceable (nothing in the documentation about battery replacement) so I hope the battery will keep recharging for a long time. Not sure what will happen when the battery cannot be charged effectively, (Will Withings replace the battery or will I have to get a new scale?) Only time will tell. ... show more

  • Great scale for health metrics
Overall this scale delivers in terms of getting accurate weigh-ins. The most important metrics for me were resting heart rate, PWV and weight. I was able to see these metrics move as I started to exercise more. I wasn't sure what to do with the bone, muscle and water metrics. I guess it's good to know but I'm not as actionable as I am with the other metrics. The Withings app is pretty good as I use it to check in every day. I have a great set up between Apple Heath, Withings, Apple Watch and Lose It!. I do recommend it for people who are looking to gather more info on their bodies as long as you're being actionable with the main metrics. For people who aren't serious about it, it's a scale with a lot of bells and whistles. PS: The scale does get a bit smudgy over time so you will have to wipe it down from time to time. Also, I was suprised to see how much your body fluctuates across a week. Basically depending on what you ate the night before etc. Some people use it weekly but I'm a daily user ;) ... show more
