  • Worth the price and then some
Color: Red-2 Probes
Fantastic! I bought this to replace my Meater Pro Duo which was an absolute POS - connectivity issues constantly out of the box, sensitivity to wifi and positioning of the box over temperature, and then bricked with inability to update firmware and the company refusing to refund even within a year. Fast forward to this - rock solid unit. Easy cleaning probes. Temp reads like any other - solid app. But fantastic connectability. Have probe 1 inside resting while the unit and probe 2 are outside? Works perfectly. Battery life is killer - have had 3 cooks (one a smoked pork butt) and still no need to charge up. Display is clear, app and notifications are solid. I wish I had started here but am glad to have this now. ... show more

  • What I needed What I needed
Color: Red-2 Probes
Decided to replace my temperature cooking probe and decided to go for the ThermoMavin. Very happy with it in my first use. It did an accurate job of advising on the level of cooking of the steaks I was grilling. And was reasonably accurate in terms of temperature. Attained perfect medium on both steaks, with the device indicating that I should take the smaller of the two steaks off the grill to rest. Only time will tell on the reliability of the device and will report if problems occur. It is a must to read the directions and cautions, it will make use of the device more accurate and reliable. Update: 11/28/24 - Today we used the ThermoMaven P2-G02A to cook our Thanksgiving turkey. Helped do it perfectly. Using smart cook for poultry it set the target temperature to 165 degrees. I used the two probs for this turkey set at different depths. First surprise is that it worked. We use an old aluminum roaster from Magilite. So was surprised that the Bluetooth worked and worked very well. The turkey was completely surrounded by aluminum. In theory it should not have worked. But I know why it worked. You see, I am an RF (radio frequency) engineer. A queer thing happens when you have long gaps in a structure. The lid and pan form long continuous edge, that is longer then a wave length at the Bluetooth frequencies. So the Bluetooth signal traved out of the roaster, with little to no loss. The design of the ThermoMaven is well done using both Bluetooth and WiFi to send out the temp data. The data analysis is very intelligently done. Hopefully we will have a long life for this device. I do lots grilling and oven roasting. This device really does help. Update: 4/13/26 still going strong, cooked exactly to medium like we like it. Never fails. Easy clean, just be gentle with them they are instruments, and will fail if mishandled. Update: 5/13/26. Well some bad luck, my unit failed during charging and now will not turn on, disappointed to say the least. Did an email to ThermoMaven. They responded quickly asked me to provide a video of my problem. Did that, and they replied. There answer. Send me a complete new unit to replace my broken one. That sir is customer service for sure. So, they really stand by their products. Which is very refreshing and positive. ... show more

  • ThermoMaven Will Lower Your Blood Pressure!
Color: Red-2 Probes
I bought the Thermomaven "P2" from Amazon for $109 US. They are selling the "G2" right now for $129 US. The main difference between them that I can find is that the G2 runs wireless on what is called "Sub 1" giving better ranges. As for the P2 range, it is awesome and more than plenty for me. I suppose if you have a large property or want to jump on your ATV and drive over to the next hollow to show your buddy Clevis your Butt Temperature the Sub G1 feature is handy. Found this definition of it: "Long Range: Lower frequencies, like those used in Sub-1 GHz, have superior signal propagation and lower attenuation compared to higher frequencies. This means that Sub-G signals can travel further and penetrate obstacles like walls and buildings more effectively, enabling longer communication ranges, which can extend to kilometers in some scenarios." What I know is that without the Sub-1 I took my Base Unit for a stroll and held a signal for a long ways before losing signal, more than enough for my needs. I suppose the Sub-1 technology may have enabled me to get all the way to the Henderson Place but I don't even like them or their yippy little Foo-Foo dogs. Now that we have the electronic mess out of the way onto the Probes and Performance. In a word, OK maybe two words. GAME CHANGER! I have always found smoking meat to be less than enjoyable as it should be because of second guessing actual temperatures because of unreliable, wired probes. I own a ThermoPro and an Inkbird. I grew to distrust the ThermoPro and don't even get me going on the insidious, obnoxious mystery alarms on the Inkbird that sent my Blood Pressure into the Stratosphere. The ThermoMaven just works. What a concept. It seems to be highly accurate. It allows you to choose to set your Target Temperatures yourself or for you to let the App set them for you based on the meat you are working with. This trusting the App thing at first seemed a little naughty to me. Like I was violating some primeval guy code. Kinda like sneaking a can of Modela when you know that PBR is the firmly entrenched King Of All Barbeque Beverages. I am an unabashed convert. I have crossed over to the dark side. It's full up get over my wimpiness and give up control to the Maven. She totally knows what she's doing. My first cook was so relaxing and satisfying. The App tracks the time remaining to target temperature with precision. This is some pretty darn near critical news to have. No more, "Geez Louise! The corn is turning into mush! YOU TOLD ME THE MEAT WOULD BE DONE HALF AN HOUR AGO!" And that my friends is the power of the Maven. Forget the Bluetooth and the Wireless Range. Forget the pretty colors on the App. Just know this, you know when the meat will be done. The Maven even tells you when to remove the meat and tracks resting time. I mean, come on man! Just buy this thing. You decide on getting the fancy Sub-1 Ghz one or not. Just buy either one and turn your life over to the Maven. ... show more

  • Seems to be accurate, stays connected, estimates done time, probes numbered, charge lasts
Color: Red-4 Probes
At this time, I have 4 different wireless meat thermometer, including Meater Plus, and ThermoMaven, so far, is one of my favorites. So why do I like the ThermoMaven wireless Meat thermometers. I have used these probes primarily for smoking in my smoker, but they also work well in any of my indoor ovens. Comparing the price of this set, I believe the price is comparable for similar sets. 1) The probes seems to report the correct meat and ambiance temperatures. The meats I have cooked so far comes out to the doneness that I prefer. I also found out that ambient temperature is much lower than reported on one of my smokers. 2) Although the app supplies more information about the cook, the base unit supplies much of the same information, such as predicted done time, current temperature of the meat, and ambient temperature, by pressing the up/down buttons. 3) The base unit and app don't lose connection when using the microwave as the Meater probes do. 4) The base unit information is easy to read and also lets you know if the probes are losing power. 5) WIFI connection on the phone allows monitoring of the cook from anywhere in the house and outside within range of your router. 6) Setup to both Bluetooth and WIFI was very easy. 7) Settings for a cook can be easily modified without having to start the cook over. 8) A done time in hours and minutes is calculate to give you an approximate done time for the meat you are cooking. 9) The base unit and probes hold a charge when not in use, but I recommend making sure all are fully charged before using them. The only downside I have found so far is that the base unit does not indicate when it is fully charged. I would recommend this wireless meat thermometer it you cook multiple items at one time that require monitoring of temperatures as I do. I have not had this set for a very long time, so I can't attest to its life over time. I will update this review if my opinion changes. UPDATE 10/14/25: This time of year, fall, I generally do a lot of smoking of meats to have smoked beef, pork, and chicken available for the winter. I have been using this set of wireless meat thermometers a lot lately, and everything has been cooked to perfection. For larger cuts of meat, I do make sure the base and thermometers are fully charged. Since the base doesn't indicate when it is fully charged, I just plug it into a USB port and leave it overnight. So far, this has been working and the probes don't run out of power even for long cooks of over 4 hours. I have been very happy with the results of my cooks when using this set of thermometer and appreciate that 4 of the probes can be monitored at one time in one app. I hope this review was helpful for you. ... show more

  • Great temp probe system easy to use
Color: Red-2 Probes
I've used this temp probe on a few cooks and it has worked flawless. The first I used both probes in one Boston Butt one on manual and the other with the smart cook. Just to see how the smart cook compared to how I have been doing it. The smart cook would have had me pull it sooner than I normally did, but I did over shoot the temp I was looking for. The next cook was some steaks and I used the smart cook and the steaks came out perfect medium rare (what I had set). You can use the system with just the base and probes, but seems harder than using the app on the phone too. With the app you get the whole cook graphed out, actual temp to desired temp gauges, probe battery level indicator. The probes have 6 temp sensors each 1 ambient our grill temp (sort of) and 5 internal sensors. All sensors in the probe are graphed out during the cook on the app. The ambient sensor, I was expecting to give me true grill temp (I checked with a probe on my Pitt Boss) but it is to close to the meat so as the meat warms up it will increase too. I don't have a clue what the more expensive system can have that would make it worth more than this system. The only thing I would change if I could is when charging the base and probes a indicator comes on telling you the charger is plugged in, but nothing indicates when it is full charge. I thought maybe the indicator would go out when fully charged but I left it plugged in for 24hrs and it never went off. Connecting to my wifi was very easy. ... show more

  • Get this wireless probe. **Forget about ambient temperature**
Color: Red-4 Probes
I have tried all kinds of probes. Wired and wireless. I have tried Tappecue (went out of business) and mixed results. I tried Meater probes. Started out OK. Block isn't intuitive and they constantly lost connection. But, the Thermomaven is AWESOME. First of all it is wireless and bluetooth so you can monitor a cook from miles away (which I did). Also, you don't have to go through the app to monitor your cook. You can do everything from the base station if you don't want to download the app. Although, I recommend downloading the app. It has greater detail and recommended cook times for all sorts of meat and different cuts. The probes are dead on accurate. They were within one or two degrees of my Thermopen instant thermometer. Now to the ambient temperature. You may have read some reviews that the ambient temperature is off, sometimes up to 25 degrees lower. This is mostly true. But, it is a function of science not the probes. There are two things at play that impact the accuracy of the probes with regards to ambient temperature. The first is called a heat sink. The probe is inserted into the meat. The meat is cooler than the temperature of the air. The meat pulls heat away from the probe through conduction. The second reason is evaporative cooling. As water evaporates from the meat it lowers the temperature around the probe so it is reading that temperature. I use a Camp Chef pellet smoker and I know the ambient temperature of my smoker is dialed in so the ambient temperature from the probe doesn't matter as much. However if it is really important to you or if you have a smoker where you really need to monitor the ambient temperature like a weber grill, then you can do one of two things. One, buy a separate ambient thermometer what is wired and monitor your cooker that way. Or, you can be careful about the placement of your probes. Do not have them pointed north/south where they are above the meat. Then you are getting both heat sink and evaporative cooling (over time it will equilibrate). Put the probes in from the side so they can get as close to the ambient temperature of the cooker as possible. Like I said, the temp of the meat is the most important to me and these probes are dead on accurate. You can dial in your cook and not worry about it. Don't even need to open the cooker unless you are spray or wrapping your meat. Get these probes!!!! Happy smoking!! ... show more

  • Top notch thermometer: worth the read. Top notch thermometer: worth the read.
Color: Red-4 Probes
I’m sorry, if you cannot afford this that is okay. If you missed out on the sale, I am sorry. For those still using those $20 Walmart poker thermometers… toss them away because THIS just took the trophies. I 100% fell for the targeting sale on this, am I mad? No. This purchase drove my co workers, and wife CRAZY because all I do is talk about how much I love it! My first thing I cooked with it was grilled chicken. The temperature was PERFECT and the prongs told me when it will be done, when to take it off the grill. And how long to let it rest. Came out at 167 after resting and was the most tender chicken I’ve ever had. I’ve been looking for nothing but excuses to cook now and the attached photos is a brisket I’ve been doing all day. The prongs have a long battery life, easy to clean, and I guess dishwasher safe but I find it easiest to just wipe them clean in the sink. The monitor that comes with it not only makes charging the prongs easy, but makes it easy to check temperatures at a glance. Also when it’s ready to be taken off the heat, the alarm is loud and will not stop until you stop it. This is great for overnight cooks that you don’t want a charcoal pan and you’re a hard sleeper like myself. The app now. The app is crazy accurate, easy to use, and you can set all kinds of parameters of whatever you are cooking. It comes with a few recipes in the app, and the 6 sensors on each prong is really nice. 5 prongs in the food and one getting the outside temperature ensuring you have the expected temperature while cooking. This also is nice if you have a grill or smoker you can control from your phone. If you need to pick up the kids at school or take them to practice and your alarm goes off. You get the notification from anywhere! It is amazing how far the connectivity is. The quality of the set is the highest of the highest. The prongs are FRAGILE but if you are careful and take care of them, I expect it to last a long time. To wrap things up, I’ve never cooked food so exact in temperature before this. Buying this was a big financial mistake because now that I have such nice thermometer, I am now buying a new grill/smoker set so I can use these more and increase my cooking experiences. My opinion: buy it if you can, if you have any doubts just buy it, if you can’t afford it, make efforts in a way to afford buying it. If you don’t buy it, then you are not meant to be hosting BBQs and major cooking holidays just make salads. ... show more

  • Thermomaven P2 thermometer.
Color: Red-2 Probes
This a great device. I do a lot of long cooks, last over 24 hours. with no issues or having to reconnect during the cook. The features that you have on your smart phone is amazing. You can use their app to pick a cook or you can customize the device to use a receipt that you customize. I can't say enough good about this. I have used several over the years but nothing compares to the P2 that I have. I had issues with the first on a purchased but the outstanding customer service they was not only responsive but quick in replacing the complete unit not just trying to trouble shoot each probe. I have a Mac phone that I use and had no troubles setting it up. I do know its compatibly with android as well. My friend just bought one and loves. The display is bright and easy to read. ... show more
