I was honestly hoping for something a little thicker and more comfortable feeling as these were a Valentine's gift for my wife. The box was a nice touch in the regards to them being a gift, but of course, Amazon packages it in a poly mailer so the box was a bit beat up when we received it. The socks are fairly soft, but as I mentioned, not very thick. I'd say they're about an average tube sock with print on the bottom of them. I had heart surgery a month ago and had a bag with 20 "Bring Me Wine Socks". On the gift boxes I put labels that said, "Thank You For My New Heart Valve" along with my name, the medical procedure, and date. Just before I was wheeled into the operating room I quietly enlisted help from one of the medical people and asked him to give everyone in the operating room a gift box when the procedure was over. The medical team had 18 people and I heard next day they all got a present. They were extremely popular with everyone . . . surgeons, nurses, and other medical team members. A couple of the nurses had their pictures taken with the socks on and showed them to me next day in my recovery room. I wasn't allowed to wear my socks for the surgery, very strict procedures. But a month before, I had a heart catheterization procedure and wore them then (sneaked them in). A big, big hit with the medical team then and my cardiologist took pictures! I've had some follow-up requests from medical people at the hospital who weren't on the surgery team and I'm filling those requests! By the way, they're popular with both women and men. ... show more

I had no issues as in other reviews with these footies. The boxes they came in were cute, but, slightly "unglued" on some. They are a nice fabric weight and fit average man's foot and most women's feet. Great hostess gift!
