  • Well written and easy to follow
Format: Kindle
Windows 10 is brand new on peoples computers this summer, there is alot of different things happening in the new Windows. This book is the perfect little guide to help you find some of the cool new features that will help you navigate your computer much smoother. I personally am already good with computers but this book did have some of the more hidden things that I had absolutely no idea about so I got good value from this book. Its detailed and well written and Bob Rye did a great job illustrating how to do things if your not 100% confident. This book deserves 5 stars just for the large amount of useful content held within this book. Well done Bob Rye for this simple yet very informative book Sophia ... show more

  • Pretty good advice on how to start Windows 10. Needs more information about which Windows this relates to HOME OR PRO?
Format: Kindle
Good book with screenshots for simplified training. Just a little too much time on the ,"start " part... Overall I think it is well written and will recommend for beginners.

  • The e version is terrible! The pages are all out of order
Format: Kindle
The e version is terrible! The pages are all out of order. There are duplicate pages and the pages don't follow logically. I want my money back. I'm really frustrated because in the past I've been able to figure a new operating system out. Not with 10.

  • disappointed
Format: Paperback
I was looking forward to the diagrams as much as the written information and they can barely be seen. The book on the whole was disappointing.

  • it's only $1, but the writing is difficult (maybe English not writer's 1st language?)
Format: Kindle
it's only $1, but the writing is difficult (maybe English not writer's 1st language?) OK, I was looking for a brief intro to WIN 10, as I updated earlier than anticipated. I had viewed some good resources, free, online, but wanted to try something that might prove helpful & be located "all in one place." As this book had mostly rave (5star) reviews, except for 1 dissenter (1star) I thought I give it a try at $1. My humble assessment? I'll split the difference between them-- 3 stars. Because, THERE MIGHT BE SOME USEFUL info, but (so far- about a 1/3 of the way through) it's hidden behind some awful syntax, a 'free range' approach to grammar and numerous challenges and creative uses of the English language. Oh, it's a very small book (682 "locations" or about 50 pages.) Case in point: at location 155 (of 682)- . Author says, "If you are searching for an especial document or archive, then you should type to see which are the current suggestions deployed by the pop-up tool, after the research." I'm thinking, "what's an especial document?" Maybe he means "special?" then "... after the research." Is that, "... after the search?" OK, small matter, but continuing in the same location, couple of sentences further... "This is a little difference with the previous Windows 8 and 8.1..." I think he's trying to say, "This is different from WIN 8 & 8.1..." I'm not trying to pick at the small writing mistakes, but they're everywhere (so far) and require, um, translation into 'what is the author trying to say?" Next paragraph begins, "Starting menu opposite from previous versions is now customizable and can be changed using your right button." I'm not sure, but maybe the author is saying something like, "the starting menu in WIN 10 is different from Win 7 & Win 8 & can be customized by using a right mouse click..." Small stuff, but ubiquitous... next page (location 181) "Microsoft deleted the start menu with Widows 8, but as we mentioned, users WHERE (emphasis added) not pleased with the new interface, most of the habitual users were just used to the friendly interface of the start menu." That's a long sentence, but I think the author is saying, " There wasn't a "start" button in WIN 8 and users didn't like that." So, that's the gist of what I find lacking. Maybe if enough people continue donating $1 for this compilation the author can avail himself of the services of an editor to clean up the grammatical mistakes and make this little book more useful for a larger number of readers. ... show more

Format: Kindle
Very enlightening. I have two units, which both use Windows 10 . I'm still getting used to using the system; but think I'll like using it. I liked the illustrations and plain explanations.
