Should I Buy It?

If you're a beginner or returning to golf after a break, this set offers fantastic value and solid performance to start. It's a strong foundation to build upon as you refine your game. However, more experienced golfers or those with specific needs might prefer to look elsewhere or plan for future upgrades.

  • Can't be beat for the price.
First off, disregard the 1 star reviews about denting the driver. All modern drivers are hollow thin metal, and if you slam the bottom of your driver into the ball like a sledgehammer it'll dent, even if it's a $500 Ping or Callaway. If you think this is a major problem, get an old wood or steel driver instead, or just use a hammer. I've also dented mine learning how to play, but it still works fine, and I'm glad it wasn't a more expensive one. This entire set costs less than most entry level iron sets and comes with a pretty nice and lightweight bag! I don't believe a sand wedge or longer irons were included in the set as they are harder to hit, and this is aimed at a beginner market. I picked up a used sandwege and 5 iron from a local goodwill for $5! All and all, I don't think you can go wrong here. I picked this set over the Strata set due to the lower cost and the reviews having less pictures of heads snapped off! Haven't regretted it for a minute. ... show more

  • The putter feels great.
I've played several rounds of golf with friends using their clubs and I finally decided it was time to get my own. Having played before I'm not brand new to the game, but I still have PLENTY of room for improvement. The first thing I'd have to say about these is that they are definitely worth the money. The driver performs well and the irons feel durable. I can't get over how much I love the putter. It's nice and heavy with a fantastic squared off grip. All in all, it's definitely worth purchasing. ... show more

  • Great Clubs For Beginners!
I've been using this set for more than 6 months now and I still love it. Note that, I am a beginner golfer and I just got this set to learn how to play golf. For a beginners stand point, I would definitely recommend this product to a friend if they are getting into golf and they want to keep the cost down. Durability wise, I only rated it 4/5. After a couple of months my 8 iron broke after I hit a root (which was buried under the grass) so I don't have this club in my bag anymore. Considering that I am a beginner and I don't swing the club very fast, it surprise me that the club broke 'easily'. If you are planning on buying this set, just be aware of where the ball lays and avoid what happened to me, since these clubs could easily break if you hit a root our your ex-girlfriend's car. ... show more

  • Quality A+ and everything you need in a bag!
I was apprehensive about purchasing golf clubs because I do not golf. I was very scared because the price was so low on these. I researched golf clubs for 2 months before clicking buy on these and so glad I did. I bought these as a gift for my husband who loves to golf. He was very pleased with these! Not only does he love the clubs, they were the right height, the ones he needed as a starter set because he did not have any and he was able to go out with these clubs without buying anything else. He will add to the clubs I'm sure now that he has a set. The bag is so sturdy and sharp looking, nice touch! If you need to buy a golf set buy these, you will be so happy that you did. ... show more

  • Pretty darn good
I’m a decent golf who got stuck out of town for 2 months and since golf courses just opened I wanted to play but my good clubs ping g400s are at home. Decided to buy this set which costs half of what my driver cost to have something to use. First time today was very impressed. Hit the irons almost as good as my main set. The hi Bred was real good as well as the 3 wood that I used off the tee. The driver was too different from mine but the 3 wood did the job fine. The putter is fine also. The bag is also very good especially since we have to walk with the covid. Very light and easy with dual straps especially since you can’t buy a push cart anywhere. Great for starter set. Back up set for friends or an emergency set like mine. ... show more

  • Just get callaway strata
After 4 outings i think the clubs are okay for entry level but not the bag. I was pretty disappointed when the zipper fell apart. Its not the standard YKK zippers. For a few hundred dollars I shouldn't have to sew it back together in the first year. I wish I knew it was made in China before I ordered ... show more

  • Clubs Play Well but Do NOT Expect them to Last
I purchased the Ultra set (not deep red or plus) in July of 2019 and started playing roughly once a week (season permitting) since. Starting with the driver, the size and the style of the club head immediately gave me confidence with my drives, although the material and paint job undoubtedly look cheap. It took me a little while to start hitting it consistently, but to this day I have no problem with the driver performance, it may not go as long as more expensive options but it gets the job done. The driver and fairway wood have graphite flex shafts, that to me, an 18 handicapper with moderately high swing speeds, feel great and I hope to keep them in my bag for another season. I say hope to keep, rather than plan, because I have seen huge quality issues with the irons. I had to take the 6 iron out of my bag within the first couple months of playing because, like a few of the pictures other reviewers posted, the hosel was crooked and affected the loft considerably. The 7 iron became my goto club until earlier this season when I noticed the center of the club face has begun to cave in. Moving onto the 8 iron, I had noticed no huge issues until this spring when I flushed it on a 150 yd par 3 and the club head ended up 100 yds down the fairway with the ball somehow landing pin high. Moving onto the 9 iron, here I felt the distance gaps seemed to be off. I saw negligible difference in ball flight between the 8 and 9, but then the pw would be way shorter than 9. I ended up getting cobra wedges so I replaced my pw. That left me with only the 7 iron and 9 iron ultras in my bag iron wise, and since I knew these clubs had a bunch of issues already - every time I stood over the ball with the 7 or 9 I just didn't feel right. More expensive sets are way more precise with their weighting and after picking up the 8, 9 and PW so many times, I knew there were huge inconsistencies. The bag was fine and the putter is great. TLDR; This set might be a good option for somebody that plays maybe once or twice a year with their friends, but to somebody that really wants to work on their game and play consistently on weekends- there are better options. I just replaced the irons with the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metals and I couldn't be happier after trying to deal with these Ultras for so long. My bag today: Wilson Ultra Driver, FW, 5hy. Mizuno JPX Hot Metal Pro 5i - GW (GW is 48 degree) Kirkland Wedges (52, 56, 60 degree) Wilson Ultra Putter Nike Stand Bag ... show more
