    • Great all-around club for the short game!
The Wilson chipper has been a welcome addition to my bag. The head is heavy and the club moves through different surfaces easily. I use it to chip as far away as 25-30 yards and just off the green. The key is to take a backswing similar to a putter. Because of the heavy head, the club can be used like a lob wedge to hit over bunkers between you and the hole with ample clearance. I've also discovered that this chipper can be used in bunkers near the green where the sand is hard-packed and the ball is on top of the sand. I still use a SW and GW for longer shots and use this club when they would be too much club. A very versatile club for the price! Update July 3, 2020: At a practice bunker I use frequently, I was struggling with my sand wedge. Most of the surface is packed down so as not to provide enough sand to carry the ball out. I decided to experiment with the Wilson Chipper. With an easy putting stroke backswing and accelerating follow through, the ball flies out of the sand on a high percentage of shots. ... show more

Takes some practice, but is very useful. When you are close to the green, it is great. I don't see myself ever taking a full swing with it. On bump and run where I would use a wedge, this is easier to control distance. Had 3 "chips" ring the cup in last 2 rounds, 2 from over 25'. For the little it cost it has helped alot. ... show more

Only practiced around with it once so far but I like how the face (has grooves) and grip (much nicer) are upgraded over the Wilson Prostaff chipper. It fits nicely in my older putter head cover.

    • Stroke saver for me!
I have a bad habit of blading my pitching wedge when trying to chip up onto the green. At first, I tried using an 8 iron and sweeping the ball, but had trouble with consistently controlling the speed. I tried this Wilson Hybrid today and I'm certain it took strokes off of my game (shot an 88 today). It's easiest to use when just a few yards off the green, and since the stroke is the same as a putter, it's pretty easy to judge speed needed for distance.
