This dough is really good and easy to work with. It’s also very forgiving and it turns out great every time. In comparison to the normal pizza dough, this one is way better. I’ve made some really awesome pizza with this dough while not really knowing what I was doing. It doesn’t tear easily and cooks evenly and gets crispy without becoming dry and brittle. Pleasantly surprised! This dough was perfect! We let it rest on the counter for two hours as other reviewers suggested and it turned out delish! Crispy and chewy couldn’t ask for anything better.

I’m a bit of a pizza, affection, auto and cook in a woodfired oven. I used to make my own homemade dough and this dough has a great complexity of flavor and is 95% is good as if I make it myself. I often choose to save time and effort. Set it out in a dough box for an hour or two to let it come to room temperature and further ferment before using. Also freezes well. My only complaint is the size of the portion which is bigger than what is typically used in a single 12 to 16 inch pizza and too small to split into two portions unless you want about 10 inch pizzas. ... show more

Ancient Grain Pizza dough is my favorite!! We love taste and texture, and thickness of each slice of pizza. It is definitely worth the cost.

Here are my thoughts: Performance: It rose well and had a decent amount of moisture, so it didn’t stick to the bowl. I used a rolling pin to roll it as flat as I could onto the pizza pan. I had the oven set to 450, with a 15 minute preheat time, and cooked for 20 minutes. It rose well, but I did need to pop some of the bubbles. The bottom cooked decently and had good undercarriage, but I will need to tweak this because the cheese was starting to cook quicker than the dough. Because of this, I think it would do well as a pan pizza, similar to a grandma pie, where the dough would be greased up, stretched and fitted to a rectangular pan, have sauce on top and spend about 15 minutes into the preheated oven. Then it would be taken out to put the cheese on top and re-inserted to cook until the cheese melts and cooks. It also didn’t set off my wheat allergy terribly when handling, so I wasn’t itchy immediately on contact. Appearance: As for the size, it was just a little over a 1 pound (small), so I’m confused as to how people are claiming to make 2 pizzas from this dough or claiming it’s too big. Also, due to being unbleached and containing other types of flours, it was dark, similar in color to whole wheat. Overall, a good buy. ... show more

My husband is picky, like really really picky. I started making pizza at home using this dough and it's a huge hit. I love the flavor, texture, and ease.

All I need to tell you is we own a very successful pizzeria and needed some pizza dough in a pinch for a meal at home. I know - it’s a long story. LOL!! We got this ancient grain dough from Whole Foods, and it was a huge hit!! Even my husband - who is a dough snob - loved it!!!

    • Strange color to the fresh dough
I make fresh pizza doughs often but it’s nice to have one handy frozen for quick small pizzas and I used to buy the regular fresh doughs from Mountain View Whole Foods that worked well. For delivery. This one has strange darker color and is not the right soft pizza dough consistency for my liking. I wish Mountain View store carried the regular fresh pizza dough like the Palo Alto store. ... show more
