My 2 year old pitbull loves this dog food! He was having issues with hives or mites when he was eating the Rachel ray beef pea and brown rice, I switched him to only this and have him completely grain free now. His coat is PERFECT, his bathroom time is super easy, he doesn't itch his ears or lick his paws, all of his itchiness is gone! The person that gave him to me said chicken was no good for him, I guess the grains aren't either! He looks super buff eating this also! The only food he likes more than this is that acana brand but hey I'll get a bag and mix it with this stuff he'll go crazy hehe ... show more

The food is good quality and both of the girls really like the taste. They are grazers and can snack all day, neither of them are over eating and their coats are shiny. Vet gave them an excellent health rating.

After reading what felt like a million food labels of beef, salmon, etc. foods that still contained chicken we were very happy to find this food. Our one dog has an allergy to chicken and chicken byproducts and we were surprised at the number of companies that sneak this in to a non chicken flavor food. My only issue with this food is there has been inconsistency with the color of the food and shape of kibble. I don’t really care about the shape but the change in color (sometimes darker or lighter in color) did raise concern about ingredients however, in the years we have been using this I have not seen a change in the ingredient list so it may just be the ingredient coloring in various batches. UPDATE: So after doing a bit of research, I called the company based on their claim that the dog food was made in the USA. After calling them while that isn't exactly 100% true, it is mostly true. I found out the Duck formula comes from France, Well the duck anyway. The Lamb and Venison come from New Zealand. The vitamins and minerals come from Germany, Canada or Japan. and the Salmon comes from Canada as well. I also learned a little more about the Pork meal. What they do is they take the moisture out of the Pork so they dehydrate it or freeze dry it. I don't think the lady I talked to really knew exactly so she had a hard time explaining it to me. Anyway, they somehow take the moisture out of the pork and then reconstitute it without the moisture, leaving higher amounts of protein and making it easier for your pup to digest. I have heard this go both ways. I have also heard feeding dogs Pork is not very good for them, however as of yet I have not been able to find anyone that has been able to tell me why. So I am going with it is fine for now until I can find more solid evidence that is not good for the dog. The company is based out of Texas and the person I spoke to did in fact speak English! Baldwin (obviously our crazy part of the family/fun loving dog) seems to love it. I myself have never have never tried it so I am not sure ;-). Long as the dog enjoys it and eats it I am happy! Baldwin is a very picky one and we tried quite a few other brands and he would turn his nose up to it. It has good ingredients and is grain free, which is great. High grain diets can lead to seizures in some dogs. The first ingredient is Pork Meal which is a Meat Concentrate and is higher in Protein than regular pork. I do wish it came in a bigger bag than 25 lbs, We tend to go through this about every month or a little under a month. We store ours in an 8 gallons garbage can we got from the local grocery store. That holds it quite nicely. the kibble size is smaller than a dime, which is great because Baldwin doesn't like anything bigger than that. This is the first dog food I have found that he will eat, I like the ingredients and is also grain free. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this dog food. ... show more

The first time I bought this my pup seemed to like it, but the second bag I bought he acted like he didn't like the taste of it, and was only eating it because he had to.
