I’ve been playing off and on for several months now but other reviewers with more knowledge and experience can write more effectively about the specifications of this paddle. I can only reliably talk about the paddle from my experience as an advanced beginner/early intermediate player. I’m short and the fact that I’m short has come into play regularly in my games. Those with longer legs can cover more of the court quicker than me and those with longer arms can catch shots that will skim right by the edge of my paddle. So the length of this paddle for me is a negative. But the grip seems a bit smaller than my other paddle and it’s easier for me to control the paddle because of that. I’m not sure if it is the grip or the surface of the paddle but I do seem to have more control in my game. I seem to be better able to control where the ball goes and I do think I have a bit more power with this paddle. I still don’t have much spin, but that might be more me than the paddle. In terms of the trade-offs, I’m not sure this is worth the money for me because of that shortness issue. ... show more

This paddle came with a nice neoprene cover and two grips. The instructions warn you to keep the paddle in the cover whenever you aren't using it, and after reading several other reviews, I suspect that's because the "edgeless" design has fragile edges. While these styles are becoming more popular, and you might think the edge guard is messing up your mis-hit shots, the truth is that if you hit the ball on the edge of the paddle it's not going to work much better on "edgeless" paddles. Also, the edge guards help protect both the face and the edges of the paddle, so they aren't a bad thing. This paddle is really a small square paddle on the end of a long, complicated handle. The face of the paddle is not bare carbon fiber, but it does have some texture and can produce moderate spin. It's 14.2 mm thick, but plays like a thinner paddle, with moderate noise and a moderately sized sweet spot. It's 15 5/8" long and 8 1/4" wide making a relatively square striking surface. This is one of the shortest and widest paddles I have ever used. The handle is still only 4 5/8" long with a firm, smooth round grip measuring 4 3/8" around, making it good for smaller hands. The grips that come with the paddle can be used as overgrips to increase the circumference, or can replace the existing black grips with something more colorful. There is no doubt that this paddle draws eyes on the court, with its distinctive holes. During play it has power over spin and control, though it took me a couple of games to get used to its overall shortness. Having hit lots of balls off the end of the paddle, I can safely say that it doesn't go any better without the edge guards; you just need to not hit it there. Once I got used to the length, I was able to direct the ball well, though my dinking ability with this stiff paddle was only moderate. Overall, this is a pretty good paddle for intermediate players. I hesitate to recommend it to beginners, who tend to strike the ground or other paddles more frequently, given the lack of edge guards. Either way, I thought the WETOOL WT-02 was a better paddle all around, with just as much power and better spin and control. You can also get a pair of those for less money than this WT-01. But they don't look as cool... Finally, this paddle IS USAPA Approved, which means that this paddle can be used in sanctioned tournaments. Many paddles are not approved, even if they say they are, but you can easily check on the USAPA website. ... show more

    • Fantastic paddle
I grabbed this to test out and see if it's something that I wanted to keep and play the game with. I've been playing just a few months at this point and have began looking for the paddles I want to progress farther with. This one I had gotten for my daughter to test out and see if she liked it because she has the other WeTool paddle that has the fox face on it and wanted a USAPA Approved paddle in case she wanted to start tournaments. When I first received and opened the box I was pretty pleased with the quality of packaging. Reality is all paddles should be shipped like these are. The paddle itself looks great, The green and black contrast nicely and it has a great texture, feel and spin. It almost feels a little forward weighted, and my daughter was concerned about it not having a protected edge, but after she played with it a couple matches she smiled big and said "I LOVE IT". And she really was playing the best pickleball she ever has. Now I'm not ready to attribute that to the paddle but she had a jump in improvement that day. I grabbed it up and gave it a run and was pleasantly surprised at just how great this paddle played. I love that it comes with a protective cover, the cover fits great and will do a great job protecting the paddle. I haven't weighed this one yet, but it feels like it's weighted near the end of the paddle. It's swings as a much heavier feeling paddle than the other paddles. This is an amazing performer for the price point After a couple hours use this paddle is hardly showing any sign of wear at all. It still looks very new Pros - very affordable, excellent control and spin, outstanding pop, nice cover, comfortable grip, gets lots of comments. I found nothing to dislike about this paddle at all. A great performer. Cons - Honestly I found nothing to dislike about this one. Not the best one I've played with, but in the top 5 best paddles I've played with under $120. You will be incredibly pleased if you grab this paddle. The paddle isn't going to hold you back on the court at any level. ... show more
