  • Works Great, Solid Powerhouse!
Style: 12500 Watts - Tri-Fuel
I live in Southern California and as of late, with the wind and fires our power gets shut down periodically for days at a time. Finally fed up with losing food, no lights or showers for extended periods of time, I decided to do some research on generators that could run my 4,000 sf home during outages. This Westinghouse kept popping up in my search. Took the leap and purchased it (had it shipped to my Daughter in Oregon because for some unknown reason, it isnโ€™t approved in California) even though it will run on propane and natural gas. She was coming down for Christmas so she loaded it up and brought it to us. Took me all of about 45 minutes to wire it up to back feed my panel through a 220 volt 50 amp auxiliary circuit I have in the garage for charging my wifeโ€™s car, and since my electric service is right next to my natural gas meter, I plumbed it in to hook up to the gas line. Well, it didnโ€™t take long before the recent fires had our power shut down for several days. I fired it up and it ran flawlessly for 3 straight days and ran everything in the house including the home heating units. I did disconnect my pool sub panel and did not attempt to run pool pumps, not necessary for a couple days anyway. I tried it with propane as well and it ran just fine. No need for gasoline unless I have my natural gas cut off as well, but I have a backup 5 gallon gas can for emergency. Very impressed with the quality and ease of use and starting options. Super easy, super handy and great piece of mind. The generator comes with both natural gas and propane hoses for simple easy connections. I was out of town when the most recent power outage occurred and my wife was able to easily roll it out of the garage, make the connections and get I going. Time will tell, but Iโ€™m loving the piece of mind and uninterrupted power when we need it. Great piece of equipment. Iโ€™m a general contractor so I know how to make the electrical connections, I understand most folks should and will need to contact an electrician to set it up, but itโ€™s simple if you watch some YouTube videos and are not afraid to do a little work.. easy DIY. job if inclined. ... show more

  • Security
Style: 12500 Watts - Dual Fuel
This is a very nice piece of machinery. Installing the wheels and feet took less than 5 minutes. The piece of foam padding in the box makes a nice kneeling pad while you're adding the oil (included). They include a spark plug wrench and an open end wrench in a tool bag. The oil capacity is 1.16 quarts. Oil comes in quarts so keep in mind that .16 quarts is a little under 3/4 of a cup. I added some gasoline and used the remote to start it. It started on the third cycle. I am super glad that I didn't have to pull the cord and am glad for the electric starter. The user manual is very well written with proper English grammar and spelling. The warnings are a little repetitive but you need to heed the warnings so that you don't kill yourself or someone else. This exact brand and model is rated as the best generator by Consumer Reports and Popular Mechanics which gave me confidence in my purchase. The ease of starting it, the quality of the brand reputation, and the quality of the generator itself gives me a sense of security. I live in a rural area that is forested and we have enough power outages that this will pay for itself by not having to suffer the inconvenience of no electricity. Be aware that the generator looses some efficiency at higher altitudes. The manual recommends that if you are over 2,000 feet above sea level that you should install the "high altitude kit". I'm at 1,600 ft ASL so I'm good but I was curious to know what that kit is and what installation looked like. It's a few gaskets, an orifice and costs about $15.00. Westinghouse has a very good step-by-step YouTube video showing you how the installation goes which. Installation require any special tools and little mechanical ability. Looks like it would take about 20 minutes to complete. If you're at a higher altitude, be sure to order the appropriate kit with your generator so that you're ready to roll when it's delivered. Delivery from Amazon was a pain. The first one "got lost". So a week later, another was delivered. This happened to me with a desktop computer not too long ago. I think there must be a thief somewhere in the supply chain. They give you a 12 hour time window 8am-8pm that someone has to be home to receive the delivery. Amazon said that the delivery driver would call before they came...they didn't. This unit is well over 200 pounds so you want to keep that in mind. It rolls easily once assembled. ... show more

  • Excellent Westinghouse Dual Fuel Generator purchase!! You'll be very pleased!!
Style: 12500 Watts - Dual Fuel
Top Notch Westinghouse WGen9500DFc Generator purchased on 3/13/25 arrived on time with excellent packing cardboard. It's possible to unbox and assemble wheels and footings by one person, but sure helps to have a 2nd person since this generator is solid and heavy. After a successful assembly using the excellent user manual instructions, we put oil supplied with this generator into the engine with a handy supplied funnel provided. Once we hooked up our propane, and hit the start button, it started up immediately and we let it run for 2 hours the first day and 3 more hours the 2nd day to break in the engine. It was great! The propane tank was still pretty fuel after running for these 5 hours. I highly recommend this awesome generator for your home and purchasing from Amazon. Amazon is my go to for buying products because they stand by their customers. Very happy with all!! ... show more

  • Westinghouse Tri-power - all you need to keep the lights and entertainment on, and food safe.
Style: 12500 Watts - Tri-Fuel
The Westinghouse Tri-Power generator was the best value in my price range that I could find on Amaxon. It had all the features I wanted and needed. Its build is very durable. All I had to do for preparation to uwe was put on the legs and wheels - very simple. It came with motor oil, a couple of tools for sparkplug maintenance or replacement. The test start-and-run was perfect. I find myself almost hopeful for a power outage sometime soon so I fire it up and enjoy the features. ... show more
