  • Easy to start out of the box
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
Bought this last year in case power goes out during the summer (we had 3 days a few years ago where that happened) so we could at least run the freezers/refrigerators and not lose hundreds of dollars in food. Just got around to unpacking it today--specifically got this model for the dual fuel with propane as it's easier to store propane and don't have to worry about emptying the gas tank or putting stabilizer in the generator. From unboxing to starting took 10 minutes and started up after 3 pulls. Comes with a propane hose, oil, a handy funnel to put the oil in and a wrench/socket if you don't have your own tools. Unfortunately I can't tell you how it would work in a real or emergency situation since we haven't used it for that yet (and God willing we won't; one of those things you buy hoping you never need to use it) but I have no doubt it'd do the job. Warning--it is heavy, light enough for two people to carry but heavy enough for one person to struggle with it. We have a dolly that doubles as a cart and it fits perfectly on there. ... show more

  • Great machine
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
Great machine, good value, lots of power. I love the duel fuel option

  • No nonsense generator
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
My use: Rare use, backup generator for couple key appliances. Dual fuel is key. Being rarely used, keeping gasoline stabilized or rotated is a hassle. Propane is more convenient for this even if reduced output. This is a no-nonsense generator, no push to start or remote start, but it fires up on the first pull if warm. Choke and 2-3 pulls if cold. Output seems stable 122v but I've not really put it through it's paces with different loads. It's enough for my use: 1400w pump, big 120v fridge, and a couple usb type minor loads. If you're mounting it in an RV or truck, great. If not, you're going to want the wheel kit, sold separately. It's too much to move more than a very short distance without wheels or a friend. Why it's not 5 star: Build quality is just "good enough". Some overengineering makes up for this. Nobody is trying to make some metal roll cage millimeter tolerant, but it should still sit square on all 4 points of contact. Mine does not. Assembling the wheel and handle kit revealed some asymmetries in both shape and thread cutting quality. I had some real trouble getting the axle on one wheel in far enough to cotter pin it. See pic. Engineering trouble: The propane connector in particular should not protrude past the plane of the roll cage but does. ... show more

  • Great dual-fuel generator with plenty of options
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
After shopping several generators, I decided on the Westinghouse. A reliable brand at a good price. Not the cheapest, but not overly expensive. This generator runs on gasoline or propane. It includes the propane connection/regulator for a 20lb tank. Runs for up to 14 hours on a 4 gal. fuel tank with built-in fuel gauge; up to 10.5 hours on a 20 lb. propane tank. I like that you can switch from fuel types while it's running, you don't have to shut it down and wait for it to cool off to switch. It has 2 regular 120-volt outlets, plus 2 outlets for home or RV connections (L5-30R and TT-30R RV). I can eventually hook it to a transfer switch to power the house directly. I also appreciate the manual that tells you how to prep it for long-term storage (drain fuel, run until it stops, add oil to cylinder). If you want a fancier version, they also offer an electric start version, and it include a remote fob. I didn't pay the extra for that, as I would be checking fuel and oil each time I start it. No need for a remote start option. I found this on the Resale site for about $200 less than MSRP or what the local big-box stores sell it for. Nothing wrong with it other than the original box was damaged. It is a beast to move, it's ~135 lbs without fuel. I plan to get a furniture dolly on wheels to make it easier to move around. ... show more

  • Reliable and Well Designed for Consumer Use
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
Awesome generator; we've come to rely on it in tandem with an under-sized solar setup while living on our off-grid property. My favorite part was the obvious care they put into the user manual. It has details on maintenance, tools you will need, and really comprehensive documentation on performance and operation. The LED screen on the generator will also notify you of overdue maintenance items in case you forget, which is a life saver. We have stretched its design envelope being at 9600ft elevation in frigid below-zero temperatures, but it still holds up well, provided you compensate power output expectations for the reduced air intake. Note that there are some caveats to this environment described in the user manual which we haven't exactly followed yet, but we still see great performance despite this. I'd recommend this generator to anyone. My biggest piece of advice is to get the recommended oil described in the manual for your environment; they ship the generator with oil for a nominal environment. With a manual crank, you want to make sure you can start it where-ever you are. ... show more

  • Its quiet, works well, starts easy.
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel
Generator arrived packed very well and despite ups's best efforts was perfectly fine. It is very quiet, its way quieter then I expected which is a nice surprise. I got the dual fuel one, and ran it off propane using the included adapters with zero fuss "just a adjustable wrench to snug the fitting" I was able to run my 15 gallon shop vac and table saw with no issue and will be getting a heavy duty extension cord to use it as backup power as i lose electricity often in storms. It came with a actual service manual that includes parts numbers and how to maintenance guide which is a huge plus for me as I service all my own equipment and the fact I can order replacement parts is quite a nice change from other brands. If you need a generator I can definitely recommend this one, its heavy so might suggest the one with wheels. ... show more
