  • Easy to get going, but be sure to read ALL to documentation first
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
Bought this for RV boondocking. Unpacked and got it up in running in no time. However, anyone buying should be aware of a few snafus we ran into so they can avoid problems. 1- They provide a small bottle of 4 stroke engine oil, but it's not enough to reach the minimum level. We had to add about a 2 oz more of our own to get a reading on the dip stick. The dip stick reading itself is a little jinky - the fill port is horizontal so you're not really dipping into the depth of the reservoir. A fill neck is provided to assist with filling, but you can't tell when you've overfilled until you unscrew it. You then have oil dripping down the side of the unit. They tell you to not thread the dip stick in to read it, but you can orient the stick and impact the reading. 2- There's a quick start guide, the owners manual AND an addendum, all of which don't say the exact same thing. Be sure to read it all before firing up the first time. They've changed the start up procedures so follow the addendum. Luckily this didn't negatively impact us, but I'd hate for someone to struggle or worse. 3 - the pressure release value for the propane is unguarded. While this didn't cause problems for me, I know I'll be positioning the value and propane tank so this cannot get accidentally bumped or pressed open. Venting propane unknowingly don't sound like a good idea! 4 - the service panel on the side is held on by spring clips, along with a locking knob. I'm mildly concerned about the durability of the spring clips with repeated removal to check oil levels. Seems a more robust attachment strategy should have been used for something they tell you to check before each use. Even with these minor issues, this is still a great unit. It's light enough to be moved around and quiet enough that you can communicate with someone while standing near it. Granted, it's not whisper quiet, but I've heard louder generators before. Looking forward to many adventures off grid with it! ... show more

  • Cool little generator!
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
Seems to be a nice generator that works as advertised. We got it as a smaller/quieter generator to our 9000kW 'whole home'. This one will be use to keep our internet going, a couple of home offices and a fridge or two. Also will work to power our small travel trailer. Its very quiet, seems to start easily and is very quiet. I like the light for the panel when trying to check things in the dark. I like the 30A connector for being able to hook our travel trailer and i use that connection for connecting to our home as well. I also like that it is light when compared to some other options with the same output. Of course the dual fuel was a big sell point for us so we could run it off our RV's propane tanks instead of having to carry gasoline around and/or having it go bad if not used. My only very small improvement suggestion: I wish there was some space or compartment on the generator to store the funnel and small tool kit. ... show more

  • Make sure you have soft start on A/C unit
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
Bought this generator to power up my RV A/C but kept cutting out and had to keep resetting breaker. I didn’t realize how power my A/C was pulling on start up which would trip my generator. After the time I removed 30 amp power cord and found some terminals were damaged. I was able to install a soft start on my A/C unit then repaired plugs on 30 amp cable and did a retest. This generator works amazing so far and has not cut out. The setup was very easy for propane and once you prime the system it started in 3 pulls for me. I think the price is worth the product and very easy to move around. Remember to install a soft start on your A/C unit with generator or you’ll just be running lights and fridge. ... show more

  • So far, so good. Too soon to fully review.
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
I just got my generator last night and am in the process of breaking it in. So I won't give 5 stars until I have used it for a month or so. I already had a Champion 2500 W gas generator, but I started having some problems with it this summer (bought it last summer). I have a hard time starting it, and I didn't like using gasoline. So I researched and then found this Westinghouse Dual Fuel generator that weighs about the same 50 lbs ish. I want to be able to use propane and only propane. It is supposed to be quieter and and propane is cleaner than gas. My goal is to never use gasoline in this Westinghouse, but it nice I have the option. First impression: Pretty good. It started up on the 2nd pull. As I said I am in the breaking in process for this generator. I wasn't able to do that properly with my Champion last summer, and I needed to get that right this time. I was a bit disappointed that the only instructions for the break in period simply said to not exceed 50% of the load capacity for the first 5 hours. Ok - am I supposed to vary that load at all? I am doing that because other research said it would be a good idea. Am I supposed run all appliances at 50% load for a straight 5 hours? Or can that load only be 10% or 20%? Is that good or bad? So Westinghouse, please add some more details to the very small section on how to break in the generator. Now I can't sit there and babysit the generator for 5 hours. But I have been checking it every 20 to 30 minutes. A couple of times now it has stopped running and I am not sure why. The first time I believe it was overload. I actually saw that. I had added in a USB power bank, hoping to charge that with the generator. It didn't like it. The other 2 times, I was not out there, but no way it would have been overloaded. So does it just stop after an hour or so?? I don't know. The 2 main things I am powering right now I don't think draw a whole lot. One is an electric 12/120v cooler. The other is a small USB powered fan, designed to be able to plug into a PC USB port. Then when I am out there, I will plug in a vacuum cleaner and run that for a bit. I also plugged in a variable speed drill and ran that at different speeds to provide different loads. But again, I am not sure what percentage of the full load this is. One thing I did like about my Champion, that this Westinghouse doesn't have, is a display telling me how many hours it has on the generator. This made it easier to track usage. My main use for this generator is to recharge my RV Lithium batteries when solar is not enough to keep them up. So I won't really be able to tell how well this does, until I use it on my next trip. ... show more

  • Left Me Stranded off the Grid With a Non Functional Product Left Me Stranded off the Grid With a Non Functional Product
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
his is one of the worst products I have ever purchased, and I am extremely disappointed that it is sold on Amazon with such a restrictive return policy. I specifically bought this for an RV trip where I planned to be off the grid. Due to high gas prices, I delayed my trip and was really looking forward to finally using this product. Unfortunately, when I needed it most, it completely failed to work. I spent over 6 hours attempting to start it using both propane and gas, following all instructions carefully. Despite this, the unit never started even once. The claims of an easy two pull start shown in videos are misleading and do not reflect reality. To make matters worse, I had to hike to the top of a hill just to get enough signal to contact customer support. After finally reaching them, I was told I would receive a callback within 48 hours, which does nothing to help when you are off the grid and relying on the product in real time. At this point, I am left with a non functional product, physical strain from repeated attempts to start it, and no immediate support when it mattered most. Given these circumstances, I believe this product is defective and not as advertised. I am requesting a full refund, as the product failed to perform its basic function and left me in a very difficult situation during my trip. Shame on you Amazon. ... show more

  • A great generator. It does everything I need it for.
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
I got it a couple days ago and followed the instructions for adding oil, gas, etc. It started right up with 2 pulls on the cord. I have been using it for power tools and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

  • Outstanding Dual Fuel Inverter Generator – Reliable, Quiet, and Versatile!
Style: 2550 Watts - Dual Fuel - CO Sensor
I recently purchased the Westinghouse iGen2550DFC Dual Fuel Inverter Generator, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Whether you're preparing for a power outage, camping off-grid, or just need backup energy for tools or appliances, this unit delivers reliable performance with impressive features. Power & Dual Fuel Flexibility One of the standout features is its dual fuel capability—you can run it on either gasoline or propane. This gives incredible flexibility during emergencies when fuel availability might be unpredictable. Switching between fuels is quick and easy, and both modes provide consistent, clean power. Quiet & Efficient The iGen2550DFC runs surprisingly quiet for a generator of this size, thanks to its inverter technology. It’s perfect for use in residential areas or campsites where noise can be an issue. Plus, the fuel efficiency is excellent—it ran for hours on a single tank of gas, and even longer with a 20-lb propane tank. Clean Power for Sensitive Electronics This generator produces clean, stable electricity, which makes it safe for sensitive devices like laptops, smartphones, and medical equipment. That peace of mind alone is worth the investment. Portable & Easy to Use At around 50 lbs, it’s lightweight and compact, with a convenient carrying handle. Starting it up is a breeze with the recoil start—I had it running in just a couple of pulls even on propane. The control panel is intuitive, with clear displays for output, fuel level, and run time. Great Value & Dependability Westinghouse has built a reputation for dependable generators, and this model lives up to that name. The iGen2550DFC offers fantastic value, especially considering the dual fuel capability, inverter technology, and overall build quality. Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a compact, quiet, and fuel-flexible inverter generator, the iGen2550DFC should be at the top of your list. It’s an excellent choice for home backup, travel, or worksite use. Highly recommended! ... show more
