  • Sturdy and solid
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
Features I wanted (prioritized in order), which I found on this iGen11000DFc generator: An "inverter" generator (to get THD or Total Harmonic Distortion under 3%) A "Dual Fuel" generator (to run either Propane or Gasoline) An electric start (from a battery) with "recoil" or manual start option Size: Something close to 10,000 watts (or 10KW) to easily handle any one circuit in our home (hot water heater, electric range, electric clothes dryer, etc.) Transfer switch ready (so I can "plug the house into it") Able to deliver 240 Volt circuits (required to be able to "plug the house into it") Bonus feature: The "c" in the model name for Westinghouse indicates it has a carbon monoxide shutoff feature - to shut down if carbon monoxide levels from the exhaust get dangerous around it. Packaging was great. Assembly was easy. Adding oil was made easy with supplied funnel, etc. Started it up yesterday (on propane) - took two tries to get it to start. The second try, it started but ran very rough, misfiring regularly. Let it do that for a minute or two, then shut it off. Started it again and it started right up and ran smooth. I proceeded to test it over the next 80 minutes, hooked it to our home with a 50 amp cord, and tried various circuits in the home including a heat pump, fridge, freezer, computers with monitors, TV, etc. - all worked fine. Ran the house on it for a while. My wife forgot it was on and started the electric dryer even. No issues whatsoever. The generator handled them all just fine and behaved like it was just idling to do it - it never seemed to strain or struggle. I then disconnected it from the house and started it multiple times, different ways, with the key fob, even pulling the cord (which took two pulls to start it). Every time it seemed to work just great! Downside that I saw only after reviewing the manual in detail - it says that it's not good at cold temps with the included oil (cold meaning below 23 degrees F). I want this for winter in Maine. So, I plan to change the oil out to the recommended 5W-30 synthetic oil for cold temps sometime after the burn in period - but the manual says to use the included oil until the generator is used sufficient to get it through a normal motor burn in of about 5 hours (as I understand it from reviewing the manual). Would I recommend - "yes". Bonus - it was quieter than I expected it to be. That's why my wife forgot it was even running and started the dryer in our home - she didn't even notice it was still on from inside our well-insulated home. ... show more

  • Well built reliable and quiet! Well built reliable and quiet!
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
I recently purchased the Westinghouse 11000 Peak Watt Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator with Remote Electric Start, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my emergency preparedness setup. Living in an area prone to power outages, I needed a reliable solution to keep my whole house running and ensure my Tesla stays charged when the grid goes down. This generator has delivered on both fronts, and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance. Setting it up was a breeze. It arrived with everything I needed—oil, a funnel, a toolkit, and a remote start key fob—so I had it up and running in no time. The remote electric start is a game-changer; I can fire it up from inside the house without trudging outside in bad weather. Plus, the dual fuel capability (gasoline or propane) gives me flexibility depending on what fuel I have on hand, which is a huge plus during emergencies when gas stations might not be operational. For whole house backup, this generator’s 11,000 peak watts and 9,000 running watts (on gasoline) have been more than enough to power my essentials. I’ve got it hooked up to a transfer switch via the L14-30R outlet, and it effortlessly keeps my refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, and even a window AC unit going during outages. The inverter technology ensures clean power with low THD, so I don’t have to worry about sensitive electronics getting fried. It’s not dead silent—around 64 dBA under load—but it’s manageable, especially since I park it outside away from the house. Where this generator really shines for me is charging my Tesla in a pinch. With the 50-amp 14-50R outlet, I can plug in my Tesla Mobile Connector and get a decent charge going. It’s not as fast as a dedicated Level 2 charger, of course, but at about 20-25 miles of range per hour, it’s a lifesaver when I need to keep the car operational during extended outages. I’ve tested it with both gasoline (up to 17 hours on a 7.92-gallon tank) and propane (shorter runtime but cleaner burning), and it handles the load without breaking a sweat. One thing to note: it’s not lightweight at around 187 pounds, but the wheels and handles make it portable enough to move around my property. The CO sensor adds peace of mind, especially when running it near the garage. My only minor gripe is that the fuel efficiency drops a bit under heavy loads—like when charging the Tesla and running the house simultaneously—but that’s to be expected with any generator pushing its limits. Overall, the Westinghouse 11000 Peak Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator has been a reliable workhorse for my whole house backup and Tesla charging needs. It’s powerful, versatile, and easy to use, making it a solid investment for anyone looking to stay prepared. I’d recommend it to anyone in a similar boat—especially if you’re balancing household power and EV charging during emergencies. ... show more

  • Very Nicely Built Generator!
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
I have had several generators over the years and this is one of the nicest ones I have owned. It is very well built with easy access panels. It only took me a few minutes to install the wheels, handle, and fill it with oil to include connecting the battery connector. It fired right up and ran very smooth and is super quiet. I appreciate the fact that it not only has a 50A twist lock plug, but it actually generates 47 amps peak which was a deciding factor in buying it. Not all generators output 50A even though they have a 50A plug. It's something to verify in the specs if you are buying one and want the 50A capacity. I also like the front panel, it is very easy to access and understand. The ECO feature is nice to have and will help to save fuel when loading is low where it drops the engine RPM's. The remote start/stop works well and I can shut the generator off from 50ft away in my house which will be handy for late evening shutdowns. It also has a pull cord for manual starting, so there is no single failure if the battery has lost its charge. Lastly, it came with a battery tender to keep the battery charged up, so there is no worrying about that. I highly recommend this generator and it is considerably cheap for it's size and features. ... show more

  • iGen11000DFc vs. wGen9500DF iGen11000DFc vs. wGen9500DF
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
I purchased a 9500DF in October of 2021 after a 3 day blackout earlier that year. The delivery did not go well with the first unit being significantly damaged and the replacement also being damaged (but not as bad and I ended up keeping it). Luckily, I've only had to use that generator about 5 times in the last 3 years, and never for longer than a couple of hours. At the time, friends were getting smaller inverter generators, but as my pool pump needed about 10 amps, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to run much else on a smaller generator. In the last 3 years, inverter generators have come out with more and more power, and when I saw the 11000DFc had almost the same power of the 9500DF, I decided to give it a try. The 11000DFc arrived undamaged. It was very easy to assemble the wheels and feet, and a very similar assembly experience as the 9500DF. I vastly prefer the oil funnel and key fob included with the 9500DF, but that is a minor thing, and I assume that a modern 9500DFc has the same funnel and fob as the current 11000DFc. I have to say that overall, I think I prefer open frame generators. I can attach a piece of plywood to the top, it is easy to secure, and it clears the fill cap of the gas tank. I can't do that with the 11000DFc. It is much easier to weather proof the 9500DF. The 11000DFc started right up on propane. I did not not try is on gasoline because I don't plan to use it and don't have any. Plus I don't feel like trying gasoline and draining it all back out once I do. So I'll take it on faith its good to go if I ever need it, and that it won't leak gasoline all over the place. The 11000DFc is easy to pull start, and once I started trying, I was able to pull start it on propane every time. I've never been able pull start the 9500DF on many attempts. The LP connection to the generator on the 11000DFc seems like an afterthought as it is in an odd place and the regulator is not on the generator like it is the 9500DF. Having the regulator on the tank hose is awkward, and I smelled propane the first time I started it so kept checking the connection of the hose to the generator and the hose to the tank and they were fine. It turned out the be the connection of the hose to the regulator that was very loose. I think just rotating the hose by hand when hooking it up to the tank is enough to loosen this connection. It is something to keep your eye on. The quality of the power is obviously a night and day difference, and if anything, I am much more of an inverter fan now than I was a couple weeks ago. The thing that shocked me is that my pool pump draws 8.4 amps when connected to the 110000DFc, and draws 9.7 amps when connected to the 9500DF. I firgure the extra 1.3 amps are heating up my pool pump motor. I put a scope on the lines and on the 110000DFc, there was a perfect looking sine wave at 242V and 60Hz. On the 9500DF, it was a visibly distorted sine wave (on the top half) at 243V and 63Hz. Nothing I've read about inverter generators vs. AVR generators affected my optinion as much as this one experiment. 8.4 amps vs. 9.7 amps is more of a difference than I thought would have been possible. I guess the distorted sine wave could also be affecting the amp meter. I also tried the Eco Mode switch on the 11000DFc. It clearly idles down significantly in this mode with no load, but with just a 2500 watt load, I couldn't tell if flipping the switch was doing anything. I didn't go higher than that because I'm still in the break in period. Reasons to prefer the 9500DF: - Cost (obviously) - I prefer the open frame - The wheels are larger on the 9500DF and its a bit easier to move over lips and bumps. - I preferred how the LP tank connects to the 9500 generator, plus the hose doesn't need a pressure regulator on it. It is a clearly superior setup compared to the 110000DFc Reasons to prefer the 11000DFc: - It might be a bit quieter. I'm not even sure. They are both loud. - Easier to start - Everything about the power supplied is clearly superior - In theory, it should use less fuel because the engine is not forced to always run at 3600RPM to create 60Hz power So in the end, its all about the power. So if price is not a consideration, I would take the 11000DFc every time just for the better quality power. If Westinghouse offered an open frame inverter more in the physical form factor of the 9500DF, then I would probably prefer the open frame. The noise reduction just isn't worth what I give up in the convenience of the open frame. ... show more

  • Good solid design and build.
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
Haven't had to use it yet, (that's why 4 instead of 5) but... the build quality feels good. I put in the oil, connected the included battery and it started right up. The documentation is pretty complete, at times confusing when they refer to an item or feature with different names in different sections, but nothing crazy. It is heavy, but I'm an older guy and can move it around without too much trouble. It's also reasonable quiet. The design is good. The control panel well laid out and pretty intuitive to use ( since when you need a generator, you'll want operation to be straight forward.) ... show more

  • Fantastic Whole House Backup Generator
Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
This is a fantastic Inverter Generator. I use it to power my whole home here in FL during outages during hurricanes. I don't have to worry about "Dirty Power" with my sensitive electronics thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Having two fuel options gas and propane provides a big convenience factor by allowing me to use whatever is handy. For instance, if I have no gasoline, I would just hook up to my gas grill propane source since this unit is Dual Fuel. The unit is really quiet for what size it is. The remote controlled start and stop feature saves me pain from pull starting. It’s also parallel capable, so it can be daisy chained with another generator if you need extra power, but 11,000W peak power is a lot and I don't plan on using that feature, but it is certainly nice to have incase my needs change in the future. Of course it isn't as portable as a 2000W generator, but the 11,000W capacity is amazing. Only down size I can think of is the weight at 187lbs, but again, this isn't meant to be a generator you take to the beach or camp grounds although you could. That being said, it is still on the lighter end with weight compared to others of similar output. I highly recommend this item for anyone wanting clean power and enough power to run your entire home. It is a must have during hurricane season. ... show more

Style: 12000 Watts Inverter - Dual Fuel
Well built inverter generator that produces the power it claims. I run it off propane and it is quiet and efficient. I have not owned it long enough to speak to the batter life, but it holds a charge and starts right up. The design is compact and good looking as far as generators go. I found it easy to use and would be able to explain to someone else how to get it going if I were not around. I purchased this because I need clean electric power due to electronics in the house and the price was better than other options. I am not disappointed in my purchase and would recommend. ... show more

Great product so far. Seems well built, very quiet with a ton of features. Eco mode, key fob for remote start, Parallel ports, 30 amp, 50 amp and reg 120 outlet. Received a free upgrade to tri-fuel when ordering dual fuel. Starts easy, no choke needed. comes with oil funnel, tool kit, battery charger, oil etc. Super easy assembly of wheels and folding handle, done in 5 minutes. Pull started fairly easy as well. Like the fact you have a wiring harness that disconnects with a plug. Low oil and co2 warnings. The owners manual even gives useful information like valve adjustments, not dont drink the anitfreeze!
