this big bang for your buck in terms of quality control and compared to what gibson and epiphone need to do with there guitars. this guitar could easily be sold between 399-599! beautiful lemon burst paint job. reminds of the guitars that were come out in the late 70’s. tuners: not bad. 7 out of 10. bone nut: great quality for price point 8 out of 10 neck: thin neck. not chunky. gloss finish on back of neck. fret board: bone dry. probably from sitting in warehouse for a great length of time. intonation: great setup. frets feel great. rounded at the ends. bridge tailpiece great! Not a name brand just as solid as anything you would expect with an Epiphone. Bridge saddles all good quality. volume pots and tone pots also good quality. I changed out the capacitors on the tone pots to P 22’s. It’s just a preference. The pick ups are mid to low-grade. I wound up changing out the bridge pick up. There’s anything wrong with the pickup that come in the Guitar. They’re not microphonic. They seem well wound. The next pick up is actually better than the bridge pick up. That’s why I decided to keep the neck pick up in and swap out the bridge. Here is where it gets interesting. Inside the electronics cavity, I found shielding paint. And I also found shielding on the back of the electronics cover. You don’t find this on an 799.00 Epiphone. there’s also shielding paint in both of the pick up cavities and in the three-way switch cavity. I found that to be amazing. West Creek did a great job in figuring out what people need in quality a Guitar. Play ability is fantastic. And with a few minor upgrades it sounds just like and plays just like (or better than) an Epiphone or an LTD 256 or EC 1000. if you’re looking for a great guitar on a budget or for a beginner/intermediate player this Westcreek LP is the way to go.

This is a very good Paul copy. You can’t beat the price. It is beautiful looking , plays and sounds awesome. Had to polish the frets. But otherwise no other set up required. I learned to play on a a LP gold top deluxe. It felt like an old friend.

After a setup this is up there with all of my Gibsons, fenders and PRS high end guitars. The stainless steel frets needed polished but was level, action needed adjusting and intonation fine tuned. The design and materials are great!! It stays in tune and the Pickups are fantastic, the contouring of the neck joint and belly cut makes it comfortable to play, it is heavy 9.5 lbs but I’m used to heavy Les Paul’s. I find myself reaching for this guitar over my others and I’m blown away with the value. If you like affordable quality and not stuck on brand names it is an awesome guitar.

Six stars. I love this guitar. I recently went through a phase where I bought about 15 guitars, some cheap, some for $2000 (Gibson Les Paul Standard). My plan was to keep the best and return the rest (using Prime Free Returns). I hadn't bought an electric guitar for about 15 years and was so pleasantly surprised at the quality, sound and playability you can get for under $250. The fit and finish on this guitar is beautiful (I returned one with a blemish in the finish). The setup was close to perfect - neck relief, action, intonation, and pick up height required only minor adjustment. It was obvious someone at the factory had taken the time to make this guitar right. The components are substantial and quality. The tuners keep the guitar in tune. The strings are fresh. I love the sound. One weird thing - the fretboard smells like it has been treated with fish oil. Environmentally conscious. Health conscious. But there is a noticeable odor.

Fantastic Guitar.. as Nice as my $7000 Gibson Custom Shop R9 Les Paul... REALLY - IF I PUT THE SAME Pickups in the WestCreek as my Les Paul it would be Identical.. except the West Creek has Better Frets - there are Stainless Steel in the West Creek. Unbelievable Value and was Setup Perfect .. intonation was Spot ON !

*second update* Raised the rating to 4 stars now and I'll quickly explain why. Just paid $781 for a new Japanese-made Vola guitar which came with a scratch/gouge on the back and major fret buzz and high frets on the lower strings. I can safely say that this Westcreek guitar came in better condition than that Vola guitar. In terms of bang for your buck you'd be better off getting one of these and having a professional setup with fret leveling than paying 3-4x as much for an equal-to-worse guitar in terms of finishing quality and playability. *update* After having bought a brand new PRS SE guitar I decided to come back and give this guitar 3 stars instead of 1. I stand by my prior complaints, however I have to say that this Westcreek Underdog actually has better Quality Control than a guitar with an MSRP over 3x what I paid for this one. Compared to that PRS, the Westcreek's body and finish were flawless. Considering the vast price difference between the two, this guitar with a proper fret level and setup is no doubt a "steal" in comparison. Didn't bother plugging it in or playing. Returned same day. Major fret buzz rendered the guitar unplayable. High E string had been set an entire mm higher to disguise the terrible fret job. Obviously poor action. Truss rod was set alright, if I had kept this I would have probably dialed it in a hair straighter. Low E string was within spec but again had major fret buzz. Could I fix this? Sure. I could level, crown, and polish the frets to get the guitar in spec. But the amount of time it would make the guitar worthless to me. Given the great reviews I had read I thought this would be one heck of a deal. Instead it is just one of countless poorly made beginner guitars that look nice and play terribly. Please take the reviews you read here with a huge grain of salt. Those You-tubers I wouldn't believe for a second. Oh, also had a small minor scratch on the fretboard but honestly stuff like that makes no difference to me. Guitar body was clean enough. Pots were a bit scratchy but not horribly so.

In all my garage band journeys and attempts at something further I held LPs maybe two or three times only for a few minutes. I'm still on a budget as a senior enthusiast and I was hoping this guitar might give me the same vibe for a lower price. I was not disappointed. The craftsmanship is really astounding at this price point. I removed it from the box and tuned it. It was playable from the get go. The fret work is excellent. Well done all way around with thanks to Amazon, the seller and the on time good condition delivery provided by UPS.
