Been fiddling with my new axe for a few days and I like it so far. First guitar owned from Westcreek and simply impressed with the quality of a $200 guitar Look-the looks on this thing could kill. It gives me Dimebag Razor vibes except without a floating bridge which I personally dislike. Hard tail all the way for me. The paint job is solid, I have yet to see any imperfections on the paint job. Feel - Feels solid and of good quality. Bit of a neck dive if anyone is worried about that. They do include a high quality leather strap (which is a nice touch). Frets feel good and no noticeable sharp ends. Neck looks and measures flat and I have yet to encounter any string buzz. Sound - Sound is very good. Impressed with the stock hot rail humbuckers. Typically this is the first place I do an upgrade but I think I’ll hold onto these. Decent amount of sustain with the stock strings which are D'Addario btw, I believe they are .10-.46, sounds good with drop C. Overall - 10/10 value for the price. Very impressed with Westcreek guitars and plan on doing more business with them down the road. I have since slapped on my D'Addario EXL157 strings (.14-.68) meant for baritone but I’ve had good results on standard length guitars. I may even activize this guitar with a 9-Volt, it’ll be a certified Metal Screamer at that point. I’ll post updates as I have them.

Picked this up for fun, thinking I might want to upgrade it as a hobby and maybe paint it at some point. It showed up pretty quickly and was boxed well, no problems there. Out of the box? It was a LOT better than I expected for a $240 guitar. Paint looked great (Matte Green), no blemishes, scratches or dings. The real surprise was when I plugged it in. I tuned it to Drop D and it sounded great! It played great, no problems with the frets, no buzzing, etc. Knobs worked fine, pickups sounded good, I guess I played it for about an hour and was still kind of getting my head around this was a $200-ish guitar. I have $700 - $1200 guitars I was never able to get dialed in and finally settled on an ESP LTD Black Metal Explorer that I play daily. This Westcreek sounds almost as good. If I had one gripe it would be the tuners, but for a hard tail the 1st thing I do is install some locking tuners so not a huge deal and honestly I'm not going to ding this guitar for basic tuners when I really like everything else about it. I included a vid, not the best quality but hopefully it will give you an idea of how the guitar plays / sounds (though I play Tech Metal so your milage may vary) I play thought a Headrush MX-5 plugged into a Headrush FRFR flat monitor.

Pro's: The guitar shipped quickly, was not damaged and came with a strap, setup pamphlet, 1/4" guitar cable, and some basic allen /hex tools. The finish was perfect, no neck issues. IE has some neck relief and the overall setup was decent. I purchased the hard-tail version as its easier to maintain. The fret work is fantastic and the inlays were perfect. Light weight guitar and seems decently balanced. Has a great tone and no odd micro phonic feedback. The pickups seem to be higher output and have good tone / sustain. Event the cleans are decent. Cons: The factory tuning machines (tuners) are absolute garbage! I swapped those out as the guitar would not hold any tuning. The factory tuners would clunk and immediately go way out of tune. I replaced with Guyker locking tuners and they work flawlessly. The fretboard and original strings will leave your hands black so a good wipe down with some fretboard cleaner / polish will take care of that as well as better strings. The 4 stars are for the tuning machines and inability to stay in tune out of the box. If you have the means to swap the tuning machines out and do a basic setup (hard-tail is easy) then this is a fantastic guitar! Well worth the money and once setup properly is a player for sure! I think the matte finish is really cool and it has a great appearance and can pull of clean tones / Blues / to drop tuned Metal. I may take this to a gig later this year if it proves to be a workhorse. For now its a great studio work guitar or practice guitar.

Out of the box the guitar had issues which the company did kindly acknowledge in an email. Company customer service is exceptional. I bought it because I wanted to give it a makeover and make something custom so I did not qualify for warranty service (I knew this was going to be the case before purchase). The nut came off while changing the strings. Two of the string grommets in the back were loose and fell out and had to be glued in. The neck is not flush with the body and leaves a gap. The truss rod cover one side does not screw down because the wood was too thin to hold the screw and the wood broke off. I replaced the tuners because I wanted locking tuners and liked the look of the Antique Bronze Guyker tuners so I do not know how well the original tuners would have worked. I would have expected better quality workmanship for the price. However, it wasn't too bad overall. The pickups sound really good for heavy metal and the pickup cavities do have the shielding paint. I could not tell if the pickups are potted or not. The electronics work well. The pickups seem to be an emulation of the Rickenbacker Humbucker pickups or similar. They chug very well (essential for metalheads)! I did have to adjust the intonation on 2 strings and action on the one half. But once done it plays great! I did a proper setup, oiled the fretboard (I usually like to do this with all new guitars) and restrung with GHS Boomers 10/46. The strings fit perfectly without needing to adjust the nut. The truss rod came straight and did not need adjustment out of the box. I really love this guitar. It became my favorite! If they do improve the quality of the workmanship from the factory as the company promised me in email that they would, then I MIGHT get another guitar from this company if I have the funds. If you are getting this and do not do your own work on the guitar, you may want to be on alert for these issues but don't let it stop you as they MIGHT have fixed them by the time you read this. The only thing I do not like about the design (reminiscent of the Ibanez DT-355 Star Destroyer from the 1980s) is the little curved "notch" between the bottom horns. I would have rather it was straight across. Also keep in mind this IS an odd shaped guitar. You will have a hard time finding a gig bag or case for it. You want to be sure the case/bag will be around 22" wide or 22" cavity because of the splay of the horns. And it will fit in the Amazon standard guitar stand and also a guitar rack but keep in mind you will have to put it on backwards in a guitar rack so that it will fit. Overall, if you're a big metalhead, this is a pretty decent and fun guitar. I'm including pictures of the guitar before and after I gave it a makeover. And of some of the other issues.

This is definitely one of the higher quality guitars I have bought! It’s well worth an easy 600. The texture of the guitar is really smooth and my hand glides over the fretboard. The pickups are fairly high quality, I was actually really impressed by the neck pickup. I would say it’s probably a good idea to swap out the bridge as it’s relatively dull but that’s an easy fix. Electronics are great! Here are a few things that, though they wouldn’t have changed my decision to purchase, would be pretty helpful to know in my opinion. The guitar’s finish is matte. It’s really smooth and clean but has no gloss at all. Both pickups are the same. They are very high quality for a neck pickup but as I said, are very dull as a bridge pickup. I put a dimebucker in, the wiring is very simplistic. This guitar is very balanced! Ordinarily eccentric guitar shapes have a great deal of neck dive, I’ve even experienced it with just a Flying V, but this guitar does not have that problem. I love this guitar! I definitely will be buying from westcreek again!

This guitar is a great value. I got a matte green finish and it looks great. Plays well straight out of the box. Only gripe I have is the frets had a gritty feel when doing bends at first. It easy to tune with a clip on tuner and holds the tuning well after breaking in the strings. The bottom notch makes it easy to play while sitting. I paid $220 before tax and I feel like its a steal at that price. The shape makes it awkward for a floor stand, so invest in the wall hook hangers. I spent some of the $ I saved on those hooks, so I can keep it looking nice.

This is my second WestCreek guitar and I am a huge fan. You will pay twice as much to get this build quality from a name brand. Electronics are great, craftsmanship is great. Had a small amount of fret buzz but nothing that would deter me from highly recommending WestCreek guitars.

I've been looking forever for a purple guitar. Jackpot! This thing is supreme! Superb! I'm so happy with this purchase. I was worried the color would be like Lavender, but it's a nice matte purple, just as advertised. Its not too heavy. Sounds beautiful. $210 is an amazing price. This is not a cheap-o guitar, this baby feels like it costs $600 lol. I'm looking forward to doing more purchases. WestCreek makes some beautiful instruments!
