I just finished a small project with this glue pen. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. It was worth what I paid. The one thing I would say is that you need to get used to how the glue is deployed. There is a spring-action plunger that you pull back, and it grabs onto the glue stick. When you hit the trigger, it releases the spring for a few millimeters, and the glue comes out the tip pretty fast. Bottom line: You need to plan ahead where you want the glue to go....and move the tip quickly as the glue flows out. Otherwise, you end up with a blob of glue that needs to be pushed around to get it where it's needed. A minor issue, but it would be nice to have more fine control over the amount of glue deployed. ... show more

This is a complete waste of money. I’ve used a glue gun for years which I bought from a fabric store. I lost it and wanted to replace it with something that works the same way. This glue device is useless. We tried it on two different occasions both times it fails to function. First the melted glue takes a long time to come out and worse, when it did, it’s so little that by the time you try to get more out, it dries and turned into plastic. I’m going to be honest. I found the pen a little difficult to use. Certainly much harder than one of my glue guns and I don’t think it does any better of a job. You have to have two glue sticks loaded in it and you have to pull it back with a spring loaded mechanism and keep pulling it back and reloading as you use the glue. It was a nice concept but I think they need to go back and work on the design a little bit. I would not purchase it again ... show more

This item is a "pencil" more than a gun. The glue guns I'm familiar with have a sort of trigger that you can squeeze to advance the glue stick. This causes the stick to melt, providing glue to apply to surfaces. This pencil doesn't have this feature. As far as I can make out, you insert two glue sticks. You pull back a sort of spring-loaded thing. When you pull the trigger, this pushes the glue sticks forward. The glue evidently gets pushed by the spring. I don't like this arrangement. ... show more

    • Doesn't work the way I thought it would

When I got this, I was under the impression that I would press a trigger/button on the side and it would release the glue in a steady stream until I released the button. Instead, I have to go through the motions of pulling two levers on the side of the glue gun to "reload" the stick every single time I press the button, and when I press the button to release the glue, it comes out non-stop until a new "reload" is due. This is not any more convenient than a regular glue gun; in fact, a regular glue gun is easier because you just pull the trigger and get glue until you release it. This one requires weird maneuvering, levers, and doesn't stop when you stop. Kind of disappointed. If it weren't so cheap I'd return it. Guess I got what I paid for. ... show more

Style: Premium Hot Glue Gun Pen
Like: Shape of gun facilitates use in close quarters, includes features that most other guns offer so no biggy there. Dislike: Protective sheath on discharge nozzle which all other brands have (with one exception) that prevents the use of the gun to redistribute or smooth out the hot glue already applied. The inability to shape and form the deposited hot glue precludes its use in well over half the projects I have completed over the years. The usual projects are often just decorations of some sort. Many of my projects include various materials (Cardboard, wood of various shapes & sizes, plastic sheets, metal sheet & foil, salvaged toy parts & motors, and even some heat sensitive styrofoam materials. Projects include a color slide to digital format apparatus, several lap desks with various accoutrements, a coil winder, a four story plastic gerbil cage with changeable floors of various arrangements, specialized small parts cabinets (specialized both in drawer shape &dividers and the outer configuration to fit into and around computer or other equipment), aquarium equipment, and potting small specialized electronic circuits to contacts that connect to a 9v battery, and many other prototype experiments. The heat shield on a glue gun also prevents the use of the gun to form a fillet in a joint corner or to spread the adhesive to be later reheated with a hot air gun. (This last is used to minimize the thermal mass while maintaining the temperature when gluing to styrofoam ) While a soldering pencil can be modified to do these jobs, having the glue gun heated and already in hand is very convenient. If you ever decide to have a hot nozzle of the proper shape, let me know and I'll buy one. D.H.Orts ... show more
