Corded glue guns have always frustrated me — the cord limits your range, gets in the way, and the gun tips over constantly. That's not just annoying, it's a burn hazard. My actual use case isn't arts and crafts. I bought paintless dent repair tools for my car, and several of them require hot glue to attach pulling tabs. A corded gun tethered to an outlet wasn't going to work. I looked at battery-operated options, but everything I found was small and craft-oriented — not built for someone who wants a real grip and real mobility. This one is built like a proper power tool, because it is one. It runs on Dewalt 20V batteries, which means it's part of my tool collection now, not stuffed in a drawer with ribbon and glitter. A few things that stand out: it has an on/off switch, which sounds basic but is genuinely rare on glue guns — no more hunting for the outlet to unplug it when you're done. The Dewalt battery also acts as a counterweight, so it sits upright without tipping. That alone eliminates one of my biggest safety complaints about the category. I've used it for dent repair all the way around the car, and now I reach for it constantly — breaking down cardboard, quick repairs, whatever needs a fast bond. I needed a simple glue gun for small craft projects at home, and this one gets the job done. It heats up in a couple minutes and works fine with the DeWalt batteries I already had. The size is comfortable to hold, and it doesn’t feel too heavy even after using it for a while. The glue sticks that come with it are okay, but I’ll probably buy more since they run out quickly. It’s nothing fancy, but it sticks things together well—I’ve used it for everything from fixing broken toys to making holiday decorations. Horrible. Did not work- of course I didn't need it until after 'window closed' . It might be the color of your favorite drill- but it is the quality of a temu cat toy. My husband just shook his head at me while stroking his new Klein tools item (Not a metaphor- that brand is quality) since he has more money than I do. Luckily he's also sweet and soon will come home, hand me a box -say nothing, no smile, but a teeny, tiny sparkle will flash in his eyes when he sees me excited for a decent quality one. I have a Gorilla glue gun that works great, but recently I needed to use some large glue sticks that I bought, and the Gorilla Glue gun couldn't load them. I was just going to get another wired glue gun but I have a few DeWalt 20V batteries so I got this. Overall, I can work with this glue gun but there's some really annoying quality issues here. First off, the internals seem fine so far. This glue gun heats quickly enough and easily melts the glue, and cleans up nicely as well. The issue here is that this glue gun's plastic housing is of poor quality. Two of my batteries are OEM and the third is third party (pun not intended, but I'm pointing it out!). None of my batteries cleanly fit in this glue gun's battery port. I physically have to JAM a battery into this gun, and after I've used it and let it cool, I have to RIP the battery out of this glue gun. I can't seem to find where the fitment interference is, so I've just had to deal with this. But, even if I do find where the interference is, and am able to address it, I shouldn't have to, not with a NEW product. I've got multiple tools, genuine and third party, that use 20V DeWalt batteries, and I do not have fitment issues with any of those tools; Batteries pop cleanly in and out of all of them. Regarding battery life, I'm not going to rate it since that's dependent on the battery used. A small, lightweight 1.5 Ah battery will make this glue gun light and wieldy, given it's size, but using this glue gun for hours will probably drain the battery. Whereas a hefty 9 Ah battery will make holding this gun up difficult, especially if you're trying to glue something at an angle, but it'll last all day. I will say that since this glue gun doesn't have extra electronics such as screen or BMS (Battery Monitoring System), you will get pretty good "mileage" out of any battery....assuming you can get it to fit! ... show more

It works to push out hot glue, took about five minutes to heat up. The battery does not lock in place, though (yes, it's a DeWalt 20V battery). There's enough friction to hold it, but I guess that's the quality you get for this price range (~$17).
