Description

Remember when you had clean and quiet portable power? The WEN 4800-Watt Inverter Generator provides clean energy, free of voltage spikes and drops, without all the noise of a regular generator. Produce up to 4800 surge watts and 4000 rated watts of power on gasoline, or connect a propane tank using the tool-free quick-connector for up to 4320 surge watts and 3600 rated watts of power on LPG. The keyless electric start lets you turn on your generator at the press of a button, and includes a recoil starter as backup. The WEN Watchdog CO Shutdown Sensor helps protect both you and your family by automatically turning off the generator if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Our 224cc engine operates at a modest 62 decibels at quarter load. This limits its invasiveness while camping, hunting, tailgating, and restoring backup power. The WEN 4800W Inverter Generator is also equipped with fuel shutoff. This feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the generator to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe to run laptops, cellphones, monitors, tablets and other sensitive electronics. The built-in wheels and telescoping handle make for easy portability while the ultra-efficient 1.9-gallon tank provides up to 7 hours of half-load run time (or 20 hours half-load run time on a 20-pound LPG tank). The fully-packed panel comes equipped with four three-prong 120V NEMA 5-20R receptacles, one 12V DC receptacle, one 120V TT-30R RV receptacle, and two 5V USB ports. Maximize fuel economy by engaging the eco-mode switch. This allows the generator's engine to automatically adjust its fuel consumption as items are plugged into and unplugged from the panel, preventing the unnecessary usage of gasoline. Need more energy? Very happy with this purchase for my older mother who uses an oxygen generator. I've only had this generator for a week now, but I wanted to report on my experience so far. I bought this unit to run my furnace in case of a power outage, but I wanted a unit that was capable of being connected to my house power panel should I decide to do so. I selected this generator because it has the most features for an excellent price: something I can lift (I'm 76), dual fuel, CO protection, quiet, etc. The only feature it does not have is an automatic switch over between fuel sources when one runs out (it appears on other models but not this one). So far, I have only done the 8 hr break in period, running with a low low1000 watt load and replacing the oil. (Do get the magnetic oil dip stick. It should come standard. There was quite a bit of metallic shards on the dip stick after the break in period.) I used only propane which is how I intend to use the generator unless circumstances require using gasoline. I got the 8 hours with just 10 lbs of propane so a couple of 20 lb tanks should serve for most power outages. Running just with propane has a number of advantages: only minutes to connect and start, longer run times between refueling, no concerns about gas degrading in storage or in the engine, and much easier on the engine, extending its service life. I would also point out that I tested the exhaust and was unable to detect any carbon monoxide. Of course, one should always run the unit outside as instructed but clearly running with propane is safer. So far, the unit has run flawlessly. One thing that greatly impressed me was how quiet it runs. What prompted me to write this review is an important feature missing from the manual and all videos reviewing this unit. Every video and the unit's manual say that you must remove the oil fill plug and tilt the unit to drain out the oil. Yet, just below the fill hole is a bolt with a rubber trough below it that is clearly intended to convey liquid. In addition, there is a hole in the case directly in front of this bolt that is clearly there to allow one to insert a socket to remove the bolt. I did remove the bolt, and it is clearly an oil drain plug. Using this method of draining the oil is easier and much less messy and avoids the danger associated with trying to tilt a 60+ lb machine. I am considering replacing this drain plug with a short length of pipe and cap that will make draining the oil that much easier. My next step will be to test out running my furnace off the generator using my modified power supply switches and electrical plugs on the furnace. I don’t live a lot of reviews, but this one deserves mention and I bought it on sale on Amazon a while back and it was a lot less money, but don’t hesitate to pull the trigger. It’s a great little generator, very compact, very quiet and starts right up and runs like a champ the electric start is a little tough to get used to it first I thought I had a dead battery but you have to hold the start button down for a couple seconds then let up wait a second and it’ll start by itself same with shutting it off. Can’t say enough great about this little generator. I use it every day for a business and it just keeps on going I’m gonna buy more. One problem I did have of my own is mounting this in the bed of a truck will not work unless you raise the generator up to get it into fresh air. The Co sensor wants to turn it off because the exhaust gas won’t clear out of the bed, but it’s an easy fix either put the generator on the tailgate or I built a stand for mine to set it up above the edge of the bed. It’s a service truck that works like a champ ... show more

Very nice unit. Only issue I had was a bad battery which Wen replaced free of charge. I only use mine with propane and it starts on 3 to 5 easy cord pulls. With the new battery the electric starter now works. I can power my entire home except the central air conditioner. Perfect for me with our frequent power outages. Highly recommend. And the unit is quiet, especially compared to my previous gas powered monster. Inside with windows closed I don’t even hear the Wen running. ... show more
