  • Did the job, great for smaller projects, Very very low Dusting
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Basically they did what they were supposed to do. they cut around 12 boards for me 1/4in thick Hardie fiber cement siding, very very little dust. made the cuts fairly clean. Best thing is there was no dust. I would recommend for smaller projects for siding, patch work or small installs. If you have to do an entire home...then no. But fact is the dust from fiber cement siding is NO GOOD for you. These keep the dust to a point that if you cut outside you wont need a mask..but I would wear 1 anyways. The only thing I would say is as you cut the siding that its snipping off tends to roll up and it blocks the line you drew to cut on becuz there is nothing to make it curl off the the side like a small guide you may see on more expensive fiber board sheers. this is a little annoying but can be worked around, for the price Its great. I plan of just making a small part to guide the shavings out of my way and attach to the sheers. But they did the work and were very cost effective ... show more

  • No dust and cuts clean
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
I had to cut some of the cement fiber boards inside a confined space (shower) and was concerned about dust if I was to use circular saw. So, I bought these shears. Good investment. They cut clean (as much as it possible with cement board that likes to crush) and the dust is not airborne, rather it falls down as you cut. Alternative to the shears would be a jig saw - I learned it in the process, I used jig saw to cut big holes in the cement board. But keeping a straight line is more difficult with jig saw compared to these shears. Some people complained about broke blades. I, knocking on wood, had no such problem. But I noticed that fibers from the board get stuck between blades. I am thinking if enough of them get stuck there - they can easily break the blade. I am cleaning fibers from there after each cut. You you need to catch a thread and pull it as you turn on the shears. All in all - great investment for diyer like me. Very cheap and practical. I cut about 10 boards so far. If it does not break on me in the next two - I’d say it paid for itself. ... show more

  • Pure Garbage - Unable to cut 5/16th Hardie Board
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
This thing doesn't even attempt to cut material. tried calling tech support, and guy didn't even know what Hardie board was, and says is for cutting metal even though description clearly states it is meant to cut Hardie board. I told him he was terrible not knowing product and he said just return it. I then said he was even worse customer support for making that comment instead of trying to understand why it wasn't working. Tech went away for 5 minutes only to return and state it should cut that material, no duh!. Anyhow, turns out it seems device is broken as bottom jaw is supposed to go fully into top jaw which it doesn't, even when not cutting any material. Returning and will use saw blade like always did previously. bad product and even worse customer support. ... show more

  • Simple and cheap way to cut fiber cement lap siding
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
This makes cutting James Hardie siding extremely easy. I have used it to rip a starter piece, cut a notch, and of course for cutting my planks to size. It is relatively easy to use and so far the cuts have been straight. Time will tell how long the blade lasts but so far it is working great. I especially like it is not as messy and noisy as using a saw blade. For the price, it is great and recommend. It was cheaper than buying a 10" blade for my mitre saw but I did still need a blade for my table saw to do the Hardie trim which is too thick for the shear tool. ... show more

  • Worked like a charm.
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Had never used cement board siding on any project. Purchased this WEN Shear because I had a couple hundred linear feet of cuts to make and had heard saw blades wear quickly and produce a lot of dust. This shear worked flawlessly, cutting through the board faster than I thought it would. The cut edge it produced was clean and the process was virtually dust-free. Also, it is a lot quieter than a saw. All of these type to shears produce thin coils of waste (chips) as you cut which requires you to constantly brush out of the way as you go, but clean up is as simple as sweeping them off the floor when you're done. Overall, very satisfied with this tool. I am not highly skilled at this type of work, but found it to work great and it was simple to use. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • too slow
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Robust tool. Returned because its just too slow to be productive and takes quite a bit of force to push thru material. Put a room fan behind me to direct dust and used a circular saw with fiber cement blade. Also found my jigsaw with carbide blade worked well.

  • Good Value. Much better than using a saw.
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Easily and accurately cuts through fiber cement siding. Almost no cement dust is generated when using shears; unlike the clouds of toxic cement dust created when using a circular saw. As with any tool, making a few test cuts will improve your results. Very well-priced considering it's stout construction. I'm nearly done re-siding a large church exterior..... wishing I'd found this tool sooner. ... show more

  • Cut like butter
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
The media could not be loaded. What a fantastic tool, it cut like butter, i used it on a 1/2 inch HardieBacker and it was so easy and on line where I wanted to cut, not a lot of dust but a mess since it does remove about 3/16" material that is waste... it maid my project go so fast
