abunda_amazon_reviews I got this specifically to cool the house down for at least a few hours during the hottest part of the day after a hurricane. The humidity and heat without power after a hurricane can be severe. This unit (on propane) will run a whole house A/C system along with your refrigerator and freezer and a few other things too. This will provide much needed relief during the clean-up efforts. I use a much smaller (Honda 1000) generator to keep a refrigerator and freezer going when this unit is not running. This unit was very easy to set up and operate. I put a propane conversion kit on it and have not run it on gas. It starts quickly and runs smoothly. Pretty loud, so make friends with your neighbors haha. I have it connected to a Generac Homelink transfer switch and this thing will pretty much run the whole house, minus the central AC of course. Doesn't have a wattage output display, and I can't figure out the hour meter - it appears to be a simple timer and doesn't appear to be cumulative, hence docking a star. Best deal for price to watt output I could find
When researching portable generators I was advised to get the biggest one I could afford. The WEN DF1100T had the best price/watt offering at the time I purchased. It arrived in perfect condition that is amazing due to its size and weight. It's manageable but is honesty a beast weighing over 200 lbs. My purchase motivation was the dual fuel capability and 11,000 watt surge output. It's heavy but easy to move with the fold out handles. I like everything about it so far but one feature I would like to have that it does'nt have is remote start capability. I plan to stick with propane tanks for fuel since my power outages in Northern California are usually less than a day. That way I can avoid the whole ethanol gas fowling issue. That's all I can get where I live and it ruins your gas equipment over time even with Stabil additive that only seems to prolong the detrimental ethanol side effect. Not to mention the fact that I can't pump gas at my local station when the power is out but I can buy a propane exchange. I'm looking in to having a transfer switch installed on my electric panel so I can power my whole house without using extension cords since power outages are the new norm here in California.
