This type of foundation extends the life of your project as it reduces water seepage, swelling and expansion. Our unique swing-over handle makes it easy to maneuver around the work area even in narrow, cramped spaces. Our engine features an angled combustion chamber (for more power per displacement), a pull recoil start and a low-oil shutdown to protect the engine. Vibration isolators between the welded steel plate and the engine reduce vibration, extending the engine's life. High density foam in the handles also reduces vibration to the user. 1 Gal. fuel tank provides ample work time. Tough powder-coat finish keeps the product rust-free.

This compactor was packaged very well! I opened the box to find everything in perfect order. You only have to assemble the handle. You have fill it with your own oil before starting as it is drained out before shipping. The choke would not move into the start position but after talking with their great technical support I figured out that by loosening two nuts that hold the air cleaner housing on to the carburetor the choke lever moved freely. I tightened the nuts and all was good. It started on the second pull. It runs great and works like a champ! The wheels make it easy to move around in my shop. My old compactor died so it was time to by a replacement. This compactor really does the job. Its heavy at around 200 lbs but it compacts rocks flat. Very powerful and well built. However the throttle cable over time will get hung up on things and break. I have had to untangle it from the handle mounts. ... show more

This compactor starts and ramps. That is more than I can say for the many we have bought for higher prices. It runs slow but does the job well. One season behind is with this machine and I've patted it on the head and said thank you. If I had to spend $500 on one of these a year it would be a good investment but I think I'll get another year easy out of this one. ... show more

I rented plate compactors from homedepot. They were hard to maneuver and their handles were a serious saftey hazard. So i spent a lot of time comparing brands, reading reviews, learning about pressure and more. In the end, i chose this WEN machine. It is great! I serviced theboil and fuel, read the instructions, and it started on the 3rd pull. Always starts by the 3rd pull. People complained about the handle making them think the macine should go forward and reverse. The handle is awesome. It allows for tall people to not get back aches reaching for a low stationary handle. It also allows you to lift the handle up over center to make flat turns, rather than leaning and tilting the plate and causing digs in turns. The adjustable speed/vibe pressure lever up on the handle really helps you manage moving around tight areas and objects getting to/from the job areas. Definitely worth the investment, and not worrying about rental return times. ... show more

This compactor starts easily and runs very well. The weight of this machine combined with compaction force is quite effective. I used this on a large residential driveway to compact a 4"-6" AB base, and concrete pavers laid on 1" bedding material (1/4" minus decomposed granite) over the AB base. I have purchased cheap tools (harbor freight) in the past and have never been happy with the quality. This machine exceeded my expectations in quality and efficiently performed the work it was designed for. My plan was to sell it after completing the project but I'm so surprised by how well it works that I'm strongly considering keeping it for possible future projects, and it will make a nice addition to my tool collection. One more thing. If you get in a tight spot and can't turn the machine around, adjust the throttle just a bit above idle and you can make it reverse direction (might require a little bit of pulling/pushing depending on if you are on a uphill grade). ... show more

I have a driveway with crushed stone and it does vibrate and propel itself on that surface. However, I bought it to compact soil, and on moist soil this compactor is a total zero. No compaction and you cannot even hardly drag it across the soil. It’s a vibrator and the vibrations it makes are small and just absorbed by the moist soil so it doesn’t accomplish any compaction and cannot move forward. ... show more
