Our unique swing-over handle makes it easy to maneuver around the work area even in narrow, cramped spaces. Our engine features an angled combustion chamber (for more power per displacement), a pull recoil start and a low-oil shutdown to protect the engine. Vibration isolators between the welded steel plate and the engine reduce vibration, extending the engine's life. High density foam in the handles also reduces vibration to the user. 1 Gal. fuel tank provides ample work time. Tough powder-coat finish keeps the product rust-free.

This compactor was packaged very well! I opened the box to find everything in perfect order. You only have to assemble the handle. You have fill it with your own oil before starting as it is drained out before shipping. The choke would not move into the start position but after talking with their great technical support I figured out that by loosening two nuts that hold the air cleaner housing on to the carburetor the choke lever moved freely. I tightened the nuts and all was good. It started on the second pull. It runs great and works like a champ! The wheels make it easy to move around in my shop. My old compactor died so it was time to by a replacement. This compactor really does the job. Its heavy at around 200 lbs but it compacts rocks flat. Very powerful and well built. However the throttle cable over time will get hung up on things and break. I have had to untangle it from the handle mounts. ... show more

I have used plate compactors extensively over the years. I own similar spec'd Mikasa tamper with Honda engine ,which was 3 times more expensive than this one. Let's start with the engine , it sounds exactly like Honda. After filling the engine with the oil, it started on the first pull. Looking at the specs of this and Mikasa tamper, they are similar and they feel similar but Wen feels like it has more force to move forward. I read some reviews stating that it doesn't work on dirt, I'm assuming this was user error as I had no problem compacting the dirt. The only thing I wish it could be improved is the cover for the belt. Belt is exposed on the very bottom, which could create a problem when rubbing on the rocks and the debris. Mikasa tampers withstand years of job site abuse ,they just don't quit, we will see how durable is this WEN tamper. Overall it is good buy ... show more

The handle only vibrates moderately Machine steers STRAIGHT AHEAD ( unlike so many other compactors i used). I am a small excavation company and I bought this when the cost to rent one at my local rental place was about the same as purchasing for how many days I needed it for. The user manual says this, but you must put oil into the engine first, luckily the motor has some.sort of low oil sensor and it will not start without it. It's heavy but the handle flips so you can push or pull the machine depending on the work area. It has a eye hole at the top, which I put a threaded chain link on so I can hook it up to the tractor pucket and lower it into excavation sites. Really happy with my purchase so far. Only thing where there is room for improvement is that the oil filler is so angled its hard to put in oil with out it spilling over the fill neck but that's small engines for you. Also the handle grip is just soft foam that is easy to rip but it doesn't bother me, doesn't effect the performance of the machine. ... show more

I have a driveway with crushed stone and it does vibrate and propel itself on that surface. However, I bought it to compact soil, and on moist soil this compactor is a total zero. No compaction and you cannot even hardly drag it across the soil. It’s a vibrator and the vibrations it makes are small and just absorbed by the moist soil so it doesn’t accomplish any compaction and cannot move forward. ... show more
