  • great machine - I prefer this over the Wen 56035T
Item Shape: Water Tank
I have a Wen 56035T. I've had it about 2 years. I'm not a contractor, just a DIYer with a lot of projects going on. Wen is another low cost (import) plate compactor, but they're much more common and something of an established brand among the cheap imports. Compared the Wen, this compactor propels itself at least as well. Its a little hard to tell because there's so much variety in material and how well these things propel themselves. This one might go a little better, but I can at least say its not any worse on propelling itself. A frustration I've had with the Wen is the fuel cap. The protective cage is close to the tank and the oversized fuel cap is a hassle to on/off when refueling. This model doesn't have that problem. The cage still goes over the fuel tank (which is good - that needs protection), but the lower profile fuel cap is a lot easier to deal with than then Wen. I love the wheels on this. They're positioned perfectly to be out of the way but ready to move with a little tilt back. Don't underestimate the value of the wheels! The water tank is cool too. The Wen doesn't have that. When compacting dirt it quickly makes mud (and quits moving so easily). Probably better on sand/gravel than dirt. One small complaint: the water hose should not connect to the end of the drip tube. There should be a 'T' in the center of the drip tube and connect the hose to that. That would allow the compactor go close to walls on either side. As it is, you have to run close to a wall using the side that doesn't have the water hose coming off it. If I frequently used it, I'd modify that. But I'll be using it rarely, so its not worth the hassle. The engine runs great. It starts right up and idles smoothly (well below the engagement speed). To my knowledge, this brand has less history than Wen, so that's one reason to consider getting the Wen. But so far I see no reason to doubt the quality of this unit. On every other basis of comparison I can think of, I prefer this unit over the Wen. My Wen is currently listed on Craigslist. This replaced it. ... show more

  • Exactly as described.
Item Shape: Water Tank
Just the thing for making a freshly installed paver patio. After spending a lot of time digging a 3" deep area that is 16' x 24', I laid out the new 5" thick pavers in it. It's important to start with a level surface to do this right. Using fresh sand to fill in the gaps between the pavers I started to use this Plate Copmpactor. After 3 passes I spread another 50lbs of sand over the pavers and once again ran the compactor. I repeated this process 6 times more and had great success. I think the secret to getting results this good is to move slowly and let the compactor do it's 'thing'. I did use the water tank on this for a few of the passes just to keep the sand dust to a minimum. Each pass drove the pavers deeper into the ground and by the time I was finished, all the pavers were level with the ground and every nook and cranny between the pavers were packed tight with sand. That compactor drove them all in the ground 2". After sweeping the excess sand off the pavers I used a shop vac to remove all the left over sand from the grass surrounding the new patio. Looks great! I suspect that after a few months I will get more sand and go over it lightly (faster) at least one more time - just because. If it needs a touch up next year - no big deal. And yes, at about 120llbs, it's heavy. Heavier with the water tank full. The compactor itself was easy to assemble as there are really only a few things that need to be bolted on. Be sure to read the manual. This isn't rocket science but there are a few things that need to be done and instruction are good to have. Add oil, gas, water and check to make sure the spark plug is in properly. Prety simple. It took about 10 pulls to get this started but after that it always started right up. Consider using hearing protection. I did. Don't be surprised if your hands and forearms get numb after an hour or so. Mine did. Give yourself a few minutes break and you will be ready to go again. Worth it? Absolutely! Next project is a paver sidewalk on the side of that house where there is only grass to walk on. I like this and it's easy to recommend. ... show more

  • Heavy duty
Item Shape: Water Tank
The SuperHandy Plate Compactor with Water Tank has been an absolute game-changer for my outdoor projects. With its powerful 7HP 4-stroke engine, this compactor has made a noticeable difference in the efficiency and quality of my work on dirt and asphalt surfaces. One of the features I love most about this machine is its sheer power. The 7HP engine delivers 5500 vibrations per minute (VPM) and 4200 lbs of impact force, which is perfect for the driveway repairs and patio installations I’ve been working on. The compaction is thorough and consistent, resulting in solid and stable surfaces that I can be proud of. The built-in water tank is a fantastic addition. It’s been incredibly useful, especially when working with asphalt, as it helps to control dust and prevents the asphalt from sticking to the base plate. This has made the whole compaction process much smoother and saved me a lot of time and hassle, particularly on larger projects. The 20x15 inch base is another feature that stands out. It covers a good amount of ground with each pass, making the job faster and more efficient. Despite its power, the compactor is surprisingly easy to maneuver. It handles well, even in tighter spaces, and the design allows for smooth operation, which has been a huge plus for me. Durability and reliability are key for any tool, and this compactor does not disappoint. The construction feels solid and well-made, giving me confidence that it will last for years. SuperHandy clearly put a lot of thought into the design and build quality, and it shows in the performance and sturdiness of the machine. Overall, the SuperHandy Plate Compactor with Water Tank has far exceeded my expectations. It’s made my outdoor projects more manageable and efficient, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Whether it’s for dirt or asphalt, this compactor delivers outstanding performance and reliability. It’s a valuable addition to my toolkit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful and dependable compactor. ... show more

  • Update after about 8m of use. And another update after paving 48’ worth of pathway. Update after about 8m of use. And another update after paving 48’ worth of pathway.
Item Shape: Water Tank
Update 2: finished paving 48’ of pathway from my driveway to porch. While this compactor has few parts falling off like I said earlier, and some rubber-like balls are falling out from its plate when I raise the front a lot, other than this - the thing holds up like a champ and starts on a first pull. I can recommend it for a seasoned DIYers. Update: I’ve used this compactor multiple times already. First use was to compact about 50 cubic feet of top soil we ordered and then laid in our back yard. the compactor worked well, although it showed one of its weaknesses. The wheels it has are useless on uneven surface. I had to load it on a cart to move uphill back to hard surface. Then I worked on small paving project and used the compactor to first compact the 21AA limestone and later to compact the paved part. It worked fine, although in tight spaces it is not easy to maneuver. One thing broke when I was compacting stone - some kind of vacuum valve that was welded on aluminum box on the back. The weld just felt off and now it is hanging on the tubes. Seems to be working fine though, so I am not touching it. The compactor starts with a first pull each time - I am using recreational fuel and highly recommend not using anything else with alcohol in it. All in all, after multiple uses I can say it still deserves four star. Not a heavy duty device, and may not be heavy enough for tough professional jobs. But it is also relatively compact, and can be used by an average DIYer for smaller projects like mine. Original review: Here are my impression upon unboxing this plate compactor. Pros: 1) solidly built, welded frame 2) heavy 3) came with all parts in the box (some buyers had parts missing) 4) well packed from the standpoint of possible damage during shipping 5) has wheels to roll it between work site and storage 6) has water spreader/dropper for asphalt work or work with dusty surfaces 7) manual is better than your average China-made devices 8. priced reasonably 9. Throttle controls on the handle 10. Comes with spark plug socket wrench Cons: 1. some parts were loose inside the box, luckily they did not get lost - but check the box upon opening, you might find there few bolts and nuts 2. Did not come with wrenches and it takes 4 different sizes to get it assembled, plus screw driver. You will need metric wrenches 17,18, 12 and 13. 3. Water tube is cheap and kinks easily 4. Manual is better than average, but not perfect. Some description has wrong illustrations. It does not state there are two oil plugs - one with dipstick, the other without. And on my item they were actually misplaced. The one with dipstick was installed in the hard to reach side of the engine. I had to move it to the back of the compactor, where it belongs. Manual also shows how to assemble wheels, but mine came with wheels already assembled. 5. Installing handle is not easy with wheels already installed. Not all wrenches will work, as there is no much space there. 6. Came with no oil. Normally such things are shipped with dry pan but with oil in a bottle. It takes 0.45L of 10w-30 oil and you will need to buy it separately. 7. Frame welding is not your best. Mine a bit crooked (see photo) 8. Handle is on a short side. If you are tall (higher than 5’10”) be ready to lean a bit with this thing. 9. Handle rubber cover had some cuts here and there. My current rating is 4 stars. I will update it upon trying it first time. Need to buy oil first. To assemble: 1) attach lower handle base with 2 bolts (17 and 18 wrenches) 2) attach four bolts with rubber sleeves - these are keeping handle restricted (17 and 18 wrenches) 3) attach handle bar with two bolts (12 and 13 size wrenches) 4) attach water dropper bar with two bolts (12 and 13 wrenches) 5) attach water hose connection between water valve and water dropper (there are two clamps that need to be tighten with screw driver) 6) attach throttle control handle - two bolts, one back plate Then add oil into oil pan and gas into gas tank. Water to water tank if you need it. ... show more
