Description

Remember when you had clean and quiet portable power? The WEN 4800-Watt Inverter Generator provides clean energy, free of voltage spikes and drops, without all the noise of a regular generator. Produce up to 4800 surge watts and 4000 rated watts of power. The keyless electric start lets you turn on your generator at the press of a button, and includes a recoil starter as backup. The WEN Watchdog CO Shutdown Sensor helps protect both you and your family by automatically turning off the generator if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Our 224cc engine operates at a modest 62 decibels at quarter load. This limits its invasiveness while camping, hunting, tailgating, and restoring backup power. The WEN 4800W Inverter Generator is also equipped with fuel shutoff. This feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing for the generator to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe to run laptops, cellphones, monitors, tablets and other sensitive electronics. The built-in wheels and telescoping handle make for easy portability while the ultra-efficient 1.9-gallon tank provides up to 7 hours of half-load run time. The fully-packed panel comes equipped with four three-prong 120V NEMA 5-20R receptacles, one 12V DC receptacle, one 120V TT-30R RV receptacle, and two 5V USB ports. Maximize fuel economy by engaging the eco-mode switch. This allows the generator's engine to automatically adjust its fuel consumption as items are plugged into and unplugged from the panel, preventing the unnecessary usage of gasoline. Need more energy? Easily link up any two WEN inverter generators using a WEN Parallel Connection Kit (sold separately) in order to share wattage amongst multiple units. Low-oil and low-fuel automatic shutdown combine with the built-in overload protection and indicator lights to safeguard both your generator and your electronics from damage. And because this is a WEN Product, your inverter generator comes backed by a 3-year limited warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians, and a friendly customer helpline. Remember when your generator powered your electronics safely and quietly? Remember WEN.

  • great product

This is my second one of these they are great for the money very quite, we use them up at our river lot on the camper and our park model they run the A/C units no problem will run all night on a tank of gas and are easy to move around with the wheels and extendable handle. This unit is compact so easy to haul. ... show more

  • Long term use
Style: Electric Start
I have THOROUGHLY tested this generator. I have a property that has no conventional electricity so a generator is my only option. In my video you can see that I maxed out the time meter at 6,000 hours (yes, thousand). I ran this thing constantly for 19 months. Hot summers (A/C units, water pump) and snowy winter (Heating elements, water heater, space heater) for 12+ hours a day. This thing was a champ. My life quite literally depended on this thing and it provided. Mine looks like a monstrosity now because I took the cute plastic casing off (it’s a nightmare to service everything regularly with all those layers of plastic panels) so I mounted the thing to an open metal frame. This thing was remarkably quiet in its original form factor—very good and impressive silent power. With the case off it’s probably 15dB louder. The engine head is leaking now after ~6500+ hours and it might just need a gasket, but also the electronic throttle control seems to be failing and probably not worth the time diagnosing and replacing. So I’m writing this eulogy for such a remarkable product that I’m grateful for. This is my second Wen generator. The first one I equally abused and got extreme use out of. This one had about 1000 more watt capability which made a world of a difference. I’ve had to take apart the carb and clean the jet probably about once a month because the throttle would start “hunting”. But because of my use case, so much fuel being used, it was inevitable that there would be fuel with debris in it and reach the carb. Oil change once a week because of how often I used it. I changed the spark plug once in its whole lifetime. I had to change the crankcase gasket once not because it blew but because it ripped when I opened up the crankcase for cleaning. Finding the replacement parts for this 224cc model (or Wen for that matter) is not great. For instance the gasket took a few tries to get the right one through Amazon. Even finding a new carburetor is difficult. Finding replacement parts is the only negative I’ll hold against this product. I drilled a hole in the gas cap and ran a fuel line from an external pump+jerry can hooked up to a timer that would pulse fuel into the generator’s tank every 30 seconds. This is what let me run the the generator continuously for over 12 hours. Eventually I would ditch the generator’s gas tank all together and hook the fuel line directly to the carburetor and pulse fuel every 5 seconds into it. Worked very good. There is an oil line that is hidden behind the air filter housing that comes out of the engine block. I believe it is the one called “carbon tank tube” in the manual used for emissions or something. Well that thing would leak oil heavily and I could not figure out where it was coming from, so when I found out I clamped it from falling off and plugged it closed and the thing ran perfect with no leaks since then. Sorry if I made it less emissions-friendly in the process. Thank you to the engineers, manufacturers, and assemblers of this generator. You have no idea what your product has been through in my hands and the memory of this generator will always live on as a true champion that got me through winter storms and summer heat advisories. Thank you and Jesus bless this reader. That’s my review. Below I will share my engine break-in process that was shared with me and has served me well. Buy the Wen magnetic dipstick before you start your generator! Do not buy a cheaper one—the magnet will fall off and damage the engine’s internals, trust me. 0W-30 Mobil1 Full Synthetic and 5W-30 Full Synthetic. Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer. Before putting gas in the generator, add approx. 8-10oz. Lucas Oil into the oil reservoir then fill the rest of the reservoir with 0W-30. Install magnetic dipstick. Pull the spark plug boot off the spark plug. Unscrew the spark plug. Pour 1oz. of Lucas Oil into the spark plug hole. Screw spark plug back on. Gently pull the recoil starter cord several times to spread the oil/stabilizer internally. Put the spark plug boot back on the spark plug. Add gas. Start generator. It may be difficult to start at first. It may blow white smoke at the beginning, that’s okay. Let it run at idle for 20-30min. Shut it down. Drain the oil. Check/clean dipstick. Add another 8-10oz. of Lucas Oil and fill with 0W-30. Get a heat gun or space heater or similar. Run the generator for another 30-45min. with the appliance on. Goal is to have the generator at ~50% load but not higher than 75%. Shut down, drain oil, clean dipstick. Now fill with just 5W-30. Run your generator for your normal first use then change the oil once more with 5W-30 right after first use. ... show more

  • Surprised at the DB level.
Style: Electric Start
We were looking for a newer generator for camp. We have a Champion 2400w inverter and it’s really dependable but didn't have a 30A to run the AC properly. It's done well for us a good 4 seasons and cold camping. New camper=new generator. We were using an older (louder) 4500w Champion until this arrived to open slides and test AC. The DB difference is pretty amazing. The WEN appears well built. The pull-out handle and wheels are a nice add. The only negative is the oil drop. There is a port to release the 10mm screw, but the oil drips out from under the machine. You'll need to put the generator on a table or stand and create a port under it to catch the used oil. Our Champions funnel out the side. No biggie. The push start is tricky. It has a delay. Push the start and wait about 3-5 seconds. One trick I have found recently is to pull the rip cord out slowly until there is some tension, then give a good pull to start (or press the start button). This has resulted in one pull starts for all my rip cord machines. Mower, chainsaw and other generators. I ran it 10 hrs then changed the oil. I did purchase the magnetic oil cap. Worth it. There were some metal grains I cleaned off. It’s a tad heavy and bulky, but a quieter beast so far and not much louder than our 2400w Champion, but twice the output. Nice enclosure and easy access to the filter, battery and plug. The battery does come disconnected. It did have enough juice to spark the 1st start, though. Overall, I hope this performs well and lasts us a few seasons. ... show more

  • It's ok
Style: Electric Start
The battery for the electric start will not charge. It pull starts fairly quickly but I wanted an electric start to make it easier but have been unable to use it. The wheels and extension handles make it easy to move. And I can load and unload by myself. As far as working it did power up the 30amp camper and I ran the A/C . It is hard to get it primed to start at first , And takes a little bit of time to keep running. Seems to do better the more it runs. It's not obnoxiously loud but it is definitely louder than most generators it's size. But all in all it a decent machine. I would suggest to the manufacturer to use a different battery. ... show more

  • Great generator!
Style: Electric Start
I don’t live a lot of reviews, but this one deserves mention and I bought it on sale on Amazon a while back and it was a lot less money, but don’t hesitate to pull the trigger. It’s a great little generator, very compact, very quiet and starts right up and runs like a champ the electric start is a little tough to get used to it first I thought I had a dead battery but you have to hold the start button down for a couple seconds then let up wait a second and it’ll start by itself same with shutting it off. Can’t say enough great about this little generator. I use it every day for a business and it just keeps on going I’m gonna buy more. One problem I did have of my own is mounting this in the bed of a truck will not work unless you raise the generator up to get it into fresh air. The Co sensor wants to turn it off because the exhaust gas won’t clear out of the bed, but it’s an easy fix either put the generator on the tailgate or I built a stand for mine to set it up above the edge of the bed. It’s a service truck that works like a champ ... show more

  • Great generator
Style: Electric Start
WEN...it's already had some use after the purchase because of wind storms and power outages. It's strong, electric start and has a backup pull start and starts quick. It's fairly quiet and if camping or used with a RV, can be positioned so the sound is diminished. It has a sturdy pull handle for moving the generator from spot to spot. It is kind of heavy but it's also pumping out good power. Eco mode is quieter and governs the motor thus resulting in better economy when using low power consumption. It has 120 and 240 output and since it's a inverter you don't need to be concerned with delicate electronics being spiked. Great generator and I'd recommend it to anyone that needs good power at a decent cost that runs fairly quiet. ... show more

  • DON'T BUY A WEN GENERATOR! READ THIS:
Style: Electric Start
One day delivery - amazing Amazon! The best instruction manual I have ever read. They really address the "stale fuel clogs up carburetors" problem. I got it all set up in advance of Hurricane Helene coming through Georgia. I put it on the deck and rigged a big tarp over it. It started right up, then shut down. Did this 3 times before I noticed the YELLOW carbon monoxide light. At first I thought it was detecting too much CO, which was surprising since it was outside on the deck. But then I read that the yellow light means CO detector ERROR - call the company. It won't run until I get this resolved. This morning I called their tech line and a guy talked me through taking the thing apart to get to and disable the CO sensor (which I thought was questionable). It was impossible to get to. After screwing around with it for an hour with him, he suggested that I return it, but I had to repack it. The thing weight 100 pounds so that was no easy task. I got it up to UPS and Wen will send me another one. But it won't arrive until after Helene slams through Atlanta and for sure takes the power out for at least a couple of days. We'll be in the dark. Needless to say I am disgusted with Wen. DON'T BUY ONE. ... show more

  • Really well-built, quiet decent choice for a warranty voiding mods for
Style: Electric Start
Really solid unit. A little bit of a pain to take apart but thankfully they use the same screw for 95% of the shell. I ordered the electric start so I could add a wifi two staged switched system for remote start from my phone. With a smart thermostat and a controller software like node red, your RV can mimic what 20k commercial units do. That is auto-cycle the gen with A/C while camping for fuel efficiency. Def follow the break-in instructions to seat the rings. I’d recommend changing the oil at 5hrs vs 8. I had tons of metal micro deposits on the magnetic dip stick(highly recommend for break in) at 5hrs - you want to get that out asap. I think two oil changes in the first 10 hrs would be best practice. The high altitude kit was a game changer even at 4k ft. Much smoother, quitter and fuel efficient. ... show more
