  • so so tool excellent support
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Collars Pattern Name: Tool Kit
Wen support is crazy good. My rotary tool started making a loud noise and vibrating about 7 months after I picked it up for $25 bucks on Amazon, they did some over the phone troubleshooting and I made the sound for them they said ya I should send it in and they emailed me a PRE-PAID usps shipping label, this is where it gets good. I didn't send it in right away and I kid you not I'd get an email from them at lest 3 or 4 times reminding me to send it in and making sure everything was ok, eventually I got my shit together 2 months later and emailed them and they said go ahead and print the label from 2 months ago and send it in. WOW so I sent it in today and if I have anything bad to add later I'll come back and write about that. Now after this I was like dam maybe I should hit up Dremel support because I had an old Multipro 395 type 5 that stopped working (99% sure it just needs a new switch) I go to their website, select chat at about 7am and the bot tells me everyone is busy and it will send my questions to them after I fill out all this stuff and they will get back to me, I figured they were just starting back east (I''m in cali) and asked about my 395 and a a few other questions about random things. the reply was 2.5 days later and was one sentence stating that the Router table will ONLY work with dremel branded tools, even tho when you read about it it always just says 'Rotary Tool' so I asked them if it would fit my Wen. They completly ignored the rest of my message with more questions and asking about the 395 I wrote back saying how lame they were #AnotherOneBitesTheDust and get a reply saying that if I pay shipping to send back the 395 and pay $59+ tax & shipping they would send me a used 3000 and DISPOSE OF the 395. I told her thats Bonkers and wasteful and if I wanted I could pick up a new 3000 at the discount shops for 50-60. Everybody is always going on about Dremels but that whole experience soured them for me and changed my opinion about them, don't think I'll ever pick up anymore overpriced Dremel stuff anymore, besides all the new stuff is plastic garbage. I'm not saying Wen tools are the best, ovi mine had issued less than a year with light use but they got support game down and have earned my respect... ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product! Excellent value!!
Style: Cordless Pattern Name: Tool Kit + Accessory Kit, 150-Piece
I had a Dremel tool that died after less than a year. I own a few other Wen-branded products and I like them. I gave this a try since it was almost half the price of the Dremel. This thing works great! The quality is excellent. And they give you plenty of accessories without charging an arm and a leg for them. I highly recommend this product!! make it easy to do my Jewelry !!! ... show more

  • WEN Never disappoints!
Style: Cordless Pattern Name: Tool Kit
I have accumulated 3 products from this manufacturer .WEN..and I have not been disappointed with either the intended function or the quality of each .You would have to spend at least double the price to match this quality in a retail store..This little cordless rotary tool is half the price of a dremel and half the size and weight. No bulk but extremely solid and well built..Takes the same bits as dremel ,charges fast and holds the charge well ..no brainer..also im digging the whole orange deal in my toolbox.. ... show more

  • Great value and so far so good
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Steady Grip Pattern Name: Tool Kit
So far I'm very happy with my purchase as the rotary tool comes with many extras and works very well especially for the price, one thing I've noticed is on the very lowest speed it will sometimes shut off but other than that it's been great

  • Nice, for a starter kit.
Style: Corded Deluxe w/ Collars Pattern Name: Tool Kit
Got this asa starter kit for carving and etching wood. Bought extra bits for it as well but from an unnamed brand. Works great at soeed level 3 and below, but motor starts to whine at 4 and above. The unit also begins to overheat after running it bout 10 min or so, but by then, my hand starts vibrating and twitching so I think the occasional break for both of us is best. But it works great otherwise. Great for your first small rotary tool if you want to try it for the first time, or a cheap Christmas gift for a teen, but not the first choice for a pro with the funds for better models. ... show more

  • Decent rotary tool, internal details
Style: Cordless Pattern Name: Tool Kit
Summary: I have had a Dremel tool in one form or another for the past 30 years. So I was excited to try a 2-cell 8-volt lithium ion powered version. Observations: Lots of reviews on this item, so I'm going to skip over what everyone else has already said, and discuss one issue which I discovered during first use, that the key lock mechanism does not appear to be very solid (lots of play). My first test was to elongate some mis-drilled holes in a tool rack, using 1/8 carbide drill bits (both items listed below). The holes I was elongating was 5/16" in diameter, and I opened the slot about 1/4". I used speed 3 for most of the grinding, and as you can see from the after pile of steel dust, it was very effective. When I first tightened the collett with the wrench, I noticed that the lock mechanism had a lot of play. My first thought was that it was plastic, and I would probably break it, so I tightened it carefully. Disassembly Details: I decided to open up the Wen and investigate the details. There are a total of eight screws, and two are under the label, so you'll need to cut away the label (WARNING: this probably will VOID your warranty). The orange trays are Horusdy Silicone, and worked well to hold the tool during disassembly. I found that the shaft is supported by a small bearing right behind the threaded shaft area. The lock mechanism is a brass piece pressed onto the shaft. There is an aluminum button that is shifted by the black lock button. I was not able to easily determine how to disassembly the lock button, so that is as far as I got. I am satisfied that the interface for the lock is aluminum into brass, so it should be okay, although I did notice some damage to the brass portion (but it still locks sufficiently). Upon reassembly, I applied thread locking compound (Loctite 242, blue) to the set screw (which was loose during disassembly). Internal Details: I also looked at the details of the Lithium Ion battery pack and found it is a 2-cell, with a total capacity of 900 mAh, consisting of two 14650 cells. The industry standard cell for flashlights is the 18650, at a minimum capacity of 2300 mAh, so this is a pretty low capacity setup. Battery pack was marked SixPack Technology, with a manufacture date of 2019.12.15 (Wen tool was 03/2020). There is also a small black wire near the pack, that is a thermometer to measure the pack temperature, presumably to shutdown the tool if the battery gets too hot. Pros: Lithium powered, 5 speed settings, LED light, Cons: Lock mechanism has some play, which I'm concerned might eventually fail. Conclusion: The Wen 23072 appears to be end of life, and also appears to be a rebranded version of the EnerTwist. The Wen (or the EnerTwist) appear to be a decent setup for a rotary tool. I am rating this one 5-stars based on value for cost paid (EnerTwist is $32).
