I prefer my cats to not eat dry food, but have one who insists. I swear his coat seems smoother and silkier and shinier since mixing in half Wellness (because it is supposedly higher quality food, but extremely expensive) with his other brand.

In brief due to poor management on my part I ran out of my Wellness cat food. Thinking there is probably no difference really I got a bag of the brand with a checker board for a logo. Three things happened. My cats appetite when up significantly along with going the the litter box and lastly just sleeping all the time. That was a big change in behavior. As soon as I went back to Wellness cat food all that behavior changed. She eats less, poops less and runs around the house with energy. That was the cat I was used to. I am no expert and am not able to break down ingredients and what is contained in any pet food. But I am now very suspicious of what the checker board brand put in their food. The media could not be loaded. I first found this good at PetSmart. It is decently priced for a decent quality of food. Normally my cats excessively shed when they eat lower quality/ cheaper cat food like meow mix. I was worried about that happening with this cat food because it is in the cheaper range of foods. But with this food my kitty has no shedding at all, he enjoys the flavor and seems to be doing well on this diet. ... show more

I hesitate to write reviews based off a cat, but here goes. I needed to transition my cats from kitten food to adult food. I did some research, and this brand showed up on a couple cat sites with positive reviews based on ingredients. It isn't the most expensive out there, but it's not the cheapest either. It has a pretty strong odor to start with. One of my cats (the piggy one) liked it, but the other one tried it once, and wouldn't go near it again. And I DID try mixing 75% of the old with 25% of the new, and she still wouldn't go near the food dish. But with something like this, it's all about the individual cat. I've raised many kittens over the years. This is the first time I've used this dry food and it seemed to go over like a lead balloon. My baby doesn't really eat it. Just nibbles. He would rather eat the adult cat food (Canidae) and his wet food. My adult cats also don't seem to like it. Usually they jump at the chance to grab a bite of kitten food. My cats are pretty long haired. I went into this knowing I would get the occasional furball. Had no idea it would turn into a daily thing multiple times a day. I assumed I needed a better fur brush and got an amazing brush that took out soooo much fur shedding that it was shocking. I was sure this would fix the problem. Until I came home from work to them throwing up all their food instead all over the house, which was much harder to clean up. I ordered this food praying it would work and I've only had to clean up one hairball in three weeks compared to the roughly 1-3 a day I was experiencing. I'm impressed. I have two cats and they absolutely would not eat this food. I tried mixing it with other dry food and they would eat around it and leave it sitting in the bowl. Finally threw it out for the raccoons. They didn't seem to have a problem with it. I won't buy this again.
