  • Surprisingly functional
I've never had a weed puller like this, and didn't even know they existed until now. They are an interesting concept and work surprisingly well in certain conditions. They work for weeds that have a small base and it's easy to see the bottom. For some of my larger weeds where you couldn't see the base, this tool still works, but you have to bend over and move the weed around to find it. By then i can just pull it out by hand as fast. Some similar tools have a part that pops the weed out of the forks when you pull it, but this one doesn't. Not a big deal, but did take a little extra time when the plant doesn't fall out. So far it's worked well with Spanish needles and small sand spurs. The one thing i needed the most that this doesn't work with is nut grass. It's a large clumping grass, but the base is too big, so you have to pull it out in peices. There needs to be one designed that has a wide area that would account for these type weeds. Otherwise it does the same basic stuff as all the others in its class. ... show more

  • Doesn’t Work in a Dispensary but Works Great in My Yard
I’ve been wanting one of these old-fashioned “Grandpa’s” weed pullers for a long time. I nearly ordered one the other day that sells for the same price as this one, but it didn’t come with a handle. This model comes with a nice tall and robust metal handle for the same price, so I am glad I went for this one instead. The handle is actually much taller than it needs to be, but because it is in five sections, it is easy to make it shorter if you wish. It is easy to use and works well for my needs around my farmstead. I use it for weeds and to pull up the dreaded Tree of Paradise Seedlings that sprout up all over my rural Appalachian Mountain homestead. The tool arrives disassembled, and assembly is straightforward and easy. I am glad that the handle is held in with screws and not threaded or glued in place. It allows for a lot of leverage, and I am not afraid of it breaking. If I have any nitpicks it’s that I wish the times were a bit longer and that it opened wider. They are only 2.5-inches tall, and they open to only 1-inch wide. Although this weed puller works well, it isn’t quite long enough or wide enough to get everything that I wish it would. ... show more

  • Works Well - Wish The Tines Were A Little Longer
Evidently this style of weed puller has been around forever, I just didn't know about it. It is relatively easy to operate and is even able to pull out stubborn woody weeds. Simply wedge into the ground around the middle of the weed and pry out. I do wish the tines or fingers were a bit longer. Some more delicate rooted weeds can easily grow back from a cut root and longer tines would make it less probable to break off the root. The lever that squeezes the tines together stick a little, but it is easy enough to open it with your foot. I have no idea why this was made so long though. Fortunately it is easy to remove a couple of the handle segments to make it a good, usable length. I guess, if nothing else, the extra 2 segments I won't need will be good for spares if one I am using gets damaged. The handle end is a bit sharp when it comes to the hard plastic edges, so I may end up wrapping it, or sanding down those edges. This is a decent little weed puller that will get a lot of use around my home. It seems made well enough to last a good, long time. ... show more

  • Very good
Very good weed puller. Has multiple extensions. I might've gotten an extra extension because I connected them all and it was taller than me so I'm guessing its at least 6 feet. Pulled weeds pretty good, but my main issue is that I wish the claw could open a bit wider because sometimes the weeds and clumps of dirt/mud get stuck to the claw and I would have to pull it out form the claw myself. ... show more

  • Pole is four or five screw-together sections
I dunno…this is a bit cheaper (especially with the 8% off coupon) than the well known brand of similar product…but while the product description mentions it has an adjustable length (and it does - by leaving sections out), the pictures don’t really show clearly that the sections that screw together with a plastic sleeve over the ends are as short as they are. Meaning, it’s a lot more screwed together sections than I thought there would be (and that the pictures don’t really reflect). There is nothing that locks the screwed together parts in place. The plastic joint areas break. Anyway - this seems to work on the weeds that keep invading my lawn. Seems to work much better in grass and sand and less well (a lot less so) in gravel, even when it’s very fine. ... show more

  • Excellent tool...once you get used to it
I struggled with this at first, but once I realized exactly how to use it, I pulled many weeds with ease. Our backyard has never been landscaped properly, so I end up with a LOT of the crawling, spread out weeds. I finally realized that I just needed to hold the pole straight up and down over the top of the center of the weed, THEN push it into the ground with the step, and THEN lean it over to get the weed grabbed and pulled out. In using this, I was able to pull out large and small roots that were 4" to 10" long. Great tool! Since the handle is screwed together in several pieces, I was able to get just the right height so I didn't have to bend over. I still ended up with one extra length. Nice that the top one has a hole to mount on a rack/wall. ... show more

  • Almost makes weeding fun
I've known about this type of weeder for years, but never used one. Since my front "lawn" has been losing the dandelion-tansey-unknown weeds infestation more and more each year. I decided to go to war. I can report that this weeder works really well - even in areas where the soil is really hard from lack of watering. The instructions to construct and use it were very clear. Good thing, because (never having used a tool like this) I was a little confused at first as how it worked. Don't judge me. The all-steel construction is really solid, and allows you to put the handle together in 5 sections (each one about 16 inches long) so you can make it exactly the right length for your height. It's a great tool that allows you to easily remove any weed with a tap root without bending down or sitting on the ground. If you've got dandelions and other such weeds, this would be an excellent investment to your garden tool collection and, I think, last for many years. ... show more
