    • Great camera, not glaring or too bright
It took me a few minutes to get used to the brightness. However, it translates well on the screen. I wear a headset so can’t speak to the audio. I have been pleased with the picture quality and performance thus far. I would buy again now that I have used it.

    • Perfect! but the phone holder could be improved, difficult to handle!
I was tired of looking for a webcam on Amazon since all the affordable options are from generic Chinese "brands" that don't care about selling you both a $25 and a $80 webcam with the same internals. That's when I decided that I could just use my phone's camera since it's better than most $80 webcams on here anyways. The problem? I would need lighting and something to hold the phone since it's very tiring to hold the phone for sustained periods of time while looking straight to the camera. This item accomplishes both perfectly! I was afraid the light would not be strong enough but not only is it strong enough: I actually have to lower its brightness! The arms are very sturdy and seem very well made. I only do sporadic video conferences so this item's functionality is enough for me right now and saves me from overpaying for a low quality webcam and yet it will also be useful once I do get a webcam since I will need the lighting in that situation as well. It's a win win 😄 Cons: I wish the actual phone holder (the piece that holds the phone) was easier to handle. It's hold is very strong and that also makes it hard to put the phone in while stretching the clamps at the same time. I will see if I can use one of the car phone holders I have lying around with this. But the way the phone clamp works makes it very hard to handle and it deserves to lose a star over it. ... show more

One problem with this ringlight is that the ringlight is screwed on to the gooseneck and you can end up unscrewing it and break the wiring. The wiring can be resoldered, but the fact that you can break them this way is not obvious until you do it. This is annoying when you are trying to adjust the ringlight by rotating it in the same direction as the unthreading, you have to find a different way to do it, or it will loosen. Otherwise, this ringlight is fairly sturdy for mounting my Logitech c920s webcam and is big enough to not block the view when I put the ringlight right in front of webcam lens. The brightness is decent. It will light up your face and make it visible in dark conditions, but it might not have the same level of "beauty shot" effect as a larger, brighter ring light. I don't exactly like how there is an LED that stays on, on the controller, while the ringlight is off but plugged in. It sucks phantom power and is an unwanted light source at night when you are trying to sleep. It seems to be a common feature for USB powered lights though. ... show more

    • Switch Burnt Out and Began to Melt
Bought this for my current streaming set-up. Had it for 15 minutes until the ring light stopped working. While I was playing around with the mount, I noticed the switch was warm to the touch and smelled like burnt plastic. I unplugged it, waited for it to cooldown, and plugged it back in - now the ring light won't turn on. Which is a shame, because it was working great beforehand. I give it three stars because the goosenecks do their job. Whether they are prone to breaking or not, I'll never know. But they work as intended. I'm going to do a return to replace this one, so maybe I'll update my review if the next one doesn't short out on me. EDIT 12-12-20: The second mount arrived and it is smaller than the first one, which I thought was kind of odd. The goosenecks are smaller and it feels like I could easily snap them if I apply enough force, but they're hanging in there for now. Bumping my review up to 4 stars because everything is working as it should. ... show more

    • Wonderful light, but the camera mount is a little problematic
I had purchased a taller sturdier mount for my webcam but needed a light so i thought this would be a good compromise. The light is fantastic and has a great amount of options while streaming or needing to highlight something on a desk. The height of the light is great and very flexible. The downside is the camera mount shorter than I would have liked it to be, if it had been as tall as the light I would have been very happy. The weight of a camera does allow this arm to bend much more than I would like as well. On a side note, the slide out clip on the camera mount is not made well at all. I attempted once to pinch the release tabs and immediately one side broke off in my hands. My sturdier mount had the same exact clip and I was able to use that on both mounts fine, but I did contact the seller and they replaced the mount clip and included another desk mount without the light as a bonus.     • Not As Steady As I Had Hoped
This is probably on me for just wanting to try this out for my needs, but it's still not really what I was looking for. What I really want is a cheap alternative to a document camera, something that will just hold my camera in place at a given height above the table while I move documents in & out under it snapping pictures of them. This... isn't quite it. Now, I will say it is a quality piece of equipment. The light is a fantastic addition over other similar items I looked at. And it's not cheaply put together. But it just doesn't hold even my small very light-weight digital camera in place (and thus in focus) over the table especially as I'm pushing the shutter button pic after pic. I find myself constantly stopping to try and reframe or refocus the area under the camera, about every 3 to 5 shots. So again, it's seems a good product, just not designed well for what I'm looking for it to do. If it has any real draw-back in its design it's that the power cord for the light is too short. ... show more
